I'm shocked. I was just on the phone and it came up that I was planning on heading down to Elsinore to get my BM-I from Rob, and that's how I got the news. I know what it's like to be there, but I still just can't believe it. "¯"`-._.-¯) ManBird (¯-._.-´"¯" Click

My Sabre 120 was stolen after a cutaway at Skydive Oregon on the late afternoon/evening of Saturday, July 26, 2003 at the Pro Swooping Tour and Northwest Jumpfest. The cells are the following colors (left to right or right to left): black aqua magenta aqua black aqua magenta aqua black It's the canopy in my avatar image thingy. Associated missing items (for identification): White kill-line 28" ZP PC and 9' bridle Day-glow yellow freebag and day-glow yellow reserve PC with red pop-top Wings risers and d-bag Serial number is pending. I'll have it soon. It was manufactured in, I believe, 1995. Any info, please PM or e-mail me. Thanks, Steve "¯"`-._.-¯) ManBird (¯-._.-´"¯" Click

You aren't referring to me, are you? I have about 600 jumps and am moving from a Sabre 120 to a Sabre2 107, which I'd load between 1.6 and 1.7. "¯"`-._.-¯) ManBird (¯-._.-´"¯" Click

Good to know. I try to find myself at Elsinore when I can. I was going to down there this weekend actually, but then Skydive Oregon had to go and host the Pro Swoop Tour and the Northwest JumpFest. Bastards. "¯"`-._.-¯) ManBird (¯-._.-´"¯" Click

The post didn't piss me off at all. A lot of people in here aren't Heath or JC, but are flying the same canopies. I'm just saying that that's a bad mix. "¯"`-._.-¯) ManBird (¯-._.-´"¯" Click

I'm referring to divey canopies in the hands of those who do not have the knowledge or experience to assess/reassess their dive. An example, being someone who attempts a big fat carve on their Velocity, Vengeance, Crossfire 2, Xaos-21, etc at 300 feet and doesn't the ability or experience to make any correction until 25 feet up or so. It's something I see happening way too often. "¯"`-._.-¯) ManBird (¯-._.-´"¯" Click

You *MIGHT* be able to fit in the bigger one we have here. Or you could just wait on the suit. Sucks that you can't make it down. I need to get my ass up there some time soon. Busy, busy, busy. "¯"`-._.-¯) ManBird (¯-._.-´"¯" Click

I'm technically not a BM-I, but I have over 230 wingsuit flights and can help just as much as an official BM-I can. I've taken a good number of people on their first flights, and only one has chopped so far. ;) If you come to Skydive Oregon, we have a policy in place that for anyone's first 25 flights, they must have a docile canopy (non-elliptical and does not respond to harness input) and an AAD. I'm out there every weekend. Not being an official BM-I, I don't charge. I just started doing video, as well, though my video skills need improvement, so don't expect too much. If you're 5'6" to 5'10" (maybe 5'11"), you may borrow my suit with your rig. If you are 6'0" to 6'2", there is another suit with a rig that you may rent for $10 per jump (must be worked out with the owners of the suit). "¯"`-._.-¯) ManBird (¯-._.-´"¯" Click

Fun. Leave with your wings open, man. You won't hit anything, I promise. Unless something is flying around about 100 feet above the plane. ;) "¯"`-._.-¯) ManBird (¯-._.-´"¯" Click

Let's assume that you realize that you turned too low at the same height on either canopy. Given the same distance, the amount of time to impact will be shorter on the faster canopy, given a steep enough angle. It'd be unfair otherwise. "¯"`-._.-¯) ManBird (¯-._.-´"¯" Click

What device to collect my wingsuit stats??????
ManBird replied to SKYPEDESTRIAN's topic in Wing Suit Flying
I do find it odd that the LCD screen on the ProTrack stops at 119 seconds, but JumpTrack charts stop at 120. Weird. "¯"`-._.-¯) ManBird (¯-._.-´"¯" Click -

I recommend the ProTrack, as I haven't used or seen the Neptune and Niels Brusgaard is great guy and innovator worth supporting. Just try to score one that records up to 30 minutes. I get the cleanest charts (using JumpTrack software) by putting the ProTrack in my front pants pocket. It's always hit with clean, consistent air (except in barrel rolls or loops), and doesn't fluctuate the speed with movement. On extremities (hands, feet, head), turns or looking around will throw the charts way off. Still looking into GPS, and I don't have any recommendations there. "¯"`-._.-¯) ManBird (¯-._.-´"¯" Click -
You, too? I e-mailed the editor... just had to. "¯"`-._.-¯) ManBird (¯-._.-´"¯" Click

Yeah, I'd like to see her try a Skyflyer for her first wingsuit flight. "¯"`-._.-¯) ManBird (¯-._.-´"¯" Click

They didn't actually wear the suits for the BASE jump, either. HAHAHAHAAHAHAA @ "...the slightest wind gust can send the jumpers into an unexpected direction." "¯"`-._.-¯) ManBird (¯-._.-´"¯" Click

Good Lord, that articles is so far off, I wouldn't know where to begin. I might start with incorrect credit to the suit's design... "¯"`-._.-¯) ManBird (¯-._.-´"¯" Click

No shit. Ironic how Skydiving magazine covers BASE, but Parachutist won't. Dicks. Skydiving magazine kicks ass. Parachutist suck. Good photos, though. "¯"`-._.-¯) ManBird (¯-._.-´"¯" Click

Oh, so the Delorme one doesn't log the info to be used later? It needs to be connected to something else that logs it? Does anyone uses a "flat" GPS in conjunction with their ProTrack, as opposed to going out and getting one with a barometric altimeter? Have you ever heard a wolf cry to the new born moon, or asked the grinning bobcat why he grins? "¯"`-._.-¯) ManBird (¯-._.-´"¯" Click

Yeah, that was Per and Martin. It looks like they did the BASE jump, and the wingsuit footage came from a skydive. They wouldn't be able to make it 3 miles from that building. You eat up almost 8,000 feet vertically traveling 3 miles horizontally on the S3. I don't think they changed the background. They probably used an 80mm lens from a helicopter to make the background appear closer, giving the illusion of less altitude. Just my theory. "¯"`-._.-¯) ManBird (¯-._.-´"¯" Click

Really? How does it do that? That Delorme GPS is absolutely perfect if I can log altitude. Size, weight, price, USB. Good stuff. "¯"`-._.-¯) ManBird (¯-._.-´"¯" Click

Yeah, I figured "dirty" as in "completely collapsed wings". That's what I really want to experience. Being part of the dive and then lifting away from it. "¯"`-._.-¯) ManBird (¯-._.-´"¯" Click

http://www.garmin.com/products/geko301/ Anyone use this? I'm looking for an affordable, portable GPS unit with an altimeter. Just wondering if this does this job. Any other recommendations would be good. I've received a few recommendations about various Garmin products, but their site is quite messy. I checked out Delorme's GPS unit, which seems to kick ass in terms of portability and price, but I don't think there's an altimeter on there. If there is, I didn't read anything about it.
