When you only talk about signs, there is much overlooked. After all, there are only 12 signs, not much to differentiate between us. But when you take into account planets, houses, rising sign....then things get interesting! I believe that just as the moon affects the tides, it affects us (we are mostly composed of water), and all the other minute gravitational factors of other celestial bodies may well have some influence. There certainly seem to be some cycles that repeat in our lives. I encourage you to read about Saturn Returns (every 28 yrs), Jupiter Return (every 12 yrs), Midlife crisis (the half Uranus return around 42 yrs) etc. There is a very good site that will calculate your chart for FREE, with interpretations. Will also do relationship charts between 2 or more people, etc. You will need to know your birthtime and birthplace. Check it out, and let us know what you think afterwards! www.astro.com ps excellent philosophy in your sigline! marc

What would you do if this happened to you?
marcandalysse replied to Bodyflight.Net's topic in The Bonfire
28 jumps on a ten year old rig??? While I agree with every opinion on this thread....what the heck? Your ex friend probably became an addict....isn't thinking straight, and only remembers that she gave you something of great value once....that could be sold or traded for more drugs. That happened to me once, getting a call from someone I hadn't heard of for years. Turns out they needed bail money! Dont worry about it till you get the lawyer's letter. It probably won't ever arrive.... marc -
Athens is an interesting place. I preferred the smaller cities and beach towns like Nafplio. That was a great place to hang out. Stay there overnight. -Be sure to catch sunset from Likavittos Hill. -Wander through the Anofiotika neighborhood below the acropolis...it has the painted houses you will see on islands like santorini and has a good vibe to it. -Mars Hill by the acropolis is awesome on full moon nite, lots of younger people hanging out there, guitar playing etc... -The Zapion in the Natl Garden area is an outdoor movie theater w/good place to eat nearby. Insight Guide has a good book on Athens....so does Knopf (great illustrations and maps). I didn't have time to go to Meteora with its monasteries on top of tall narrow mountains. Looks wonderful. By the way, if you get a chance, go to Istanbul. I liked it far more than Athens, and for me, people were friendlier and the History 'fresher' than those old Greek ruins.... have fun! Spring weather should be ok....but summer is broiling! Islands like Santorini are more fun not walking under the hot sun.... marc ps taxis are a real pain to deal with! you'll learn why. use the metro and buses...

Yeah never thought about those....! I had a business call so hit the post reply button a while after writing my post, didn't see the more recent comments. Agree with all of you but just cause someone doesn't like the samurai films doesn't mean he won't like the other dramas. nice to hear from my fellow movie addicts! marc ps anyone ever see OZU's Floating Weeds? Just came out on new Criterion reissue... "The reason angels can fly is that they take themselves so lightly." --GK Chesterton

Totally agree. I got the chance to see it in Lincoln Park Chicago a few years ago. The screen was a few stories tall and veeeerrry wiiiide. They had huge sound boxes surrounding the knoll, so when the big samurai battles took place, you could hear the horses running past you from screen to behind the audience....wow! For smaller screens, I would recommend most any of Kurosawa's movies. He was the best. For more samurai, of course the classic is Seven Samurai. That was turned into the Magnificent Seven cowboy movie. -Yojimbo and Sanjuro were translated into Clint Eastwood cowboy movies. -Kagemusha is primo....he did it to show that he could film the even more epic RAN, and Spielberg Lucas and Coppola produced it. -The Hidden Fortress was ripped off 100% to create Star Wars. It has the princess protected by a general and 2 sidekicks, etc. -Throne of Blood was his version of Macbeth. For more human scale drama..... -Ikiru (story of an old man realizing life's value) -Dodeskaden....surreal look at the homeless in Tokyo. -Stray Dog (post wwII look at cops and robbers) By the way, he wrote the screenplay to one of my alltime favorites....Runaway Train with Jon Voight and Eric Roberts. I envy that you will be seeing these movies with fresh eyes. I love them all! marc

yep, like bucky, oren, cora and rick have mentioned, stop by the bomb squad table and introduce yourself! There are so many visitors to zhills these days that it is hard to know who is just passing through, and who is a newbie living in the area. we won't be there this coming weekend, but usually are at zhills every weekend. see ya! marc "The reason angels can fly is that they take themselves so lightly." --GK Chesterton

thats a funny site hanzimatters.com, I didn't catch your original post mentioning it. there are so many people with kanji tattoos that don't say what they think it should mean! always ask a few people before getting it permanently attached! (chinese waitresses would help you) marc

Not really so difficult or impossible. They left behind their descendents who still live all around that area and can explain them. Some are designs of Katchinas, others are pointers for initiation rituals when youth do a walkabout through the desert, etc. Many of those designs are similar to what you see around the four corners area, from albuquerque and santa fe, west to northern arizona and up to utah.... but all the ones I am familiar with are only 1000 years old or even more recent. you say: That 'strange spirit world' is all around you. It is our world, seen with more open eyes and heart. Peyote religion treats the cactus not as a mind drug, but as a HEART medicine. So with an open heart, they look at you and see the inner spirit. The spaceman looking helmets are the halos around us....etc But yeah, it is shockingly weird and a jolt to our normal consciousness when we run across these petroglyphs.....thanks for sharing! PS: wear a hat, use lots of sunscreen and drink lots of water, or you may start hallucinating yourself!! One day at the Team Synchronicity tunnel camp last year..... For the last hour slot of the weekend, Paul B and I were the only guys with 9 wonderful women crammed onto the benches in the tunnel. 2ways, 3ways, 4ways all hour long....wow! That mixed with the roar of the fans, the 120mph winds....very sensual in a skydiving kinda way! marc "The reason angels can fly is that they take themselves so lightly." --GK Chesterton

How Much Time do I NEED in the tunnel?
marcandalysse replied to white_falcon's topic in Wind Tunnels
I Agree. Do 15 minutes in an hour session divided with friends. Do 3 of those spread over 2-3 days. That way you build muscle memory. The first time most people get in the tunnel, no matter how many skydives they've done, they will be very awkward till they get the feeling for the wind. Try closing your eyes for a round and just feel the wind on your hands as you do turns, levels etc. Have fun!! Bring lots of $$$ 'cause you will get addicted. Only your creditcard limit and your body's tolerance for sore muscles will stop you now!! oh yeah, keep smiling for the camera!! marc "The reason angels can fly is that they take themselves so lightly." --GK Chesterton -
At the nursing home Two elderly residents, a man and a woman, were sitting alone in the lobby of their nursing home one evening. The old man looked over and said to the old lady, "I know just what you're wanting, for $5 I'll have sex with you right over there in that rocking chair." The old lady looked surprised but didn't say a word. The old man continued, "For $10 I'll do it with you on that nice soft sofa over there, but for $20 I'll take you back to my room, light some candles, and give you the most romantic evening you've ever had in your life." The old lady still says nothing but after a couple of minutes, starts digging down in her purse. She pulls out a wrinkled $20 bill and holds it up. "So you want the nice romantic evening in my room," says the old man. "Get serious", she replies. "Four times in the rocking chair"

Well that was a FUN weekend! Some great skydives, good music, and of course GREAT PEOPLE! I got my muff bros reunion tshirt....although that Tiki Bird Cockatoo took a crap on it! We didn't get around to a magic carpet jump, and didn't destroy the old muff trailer, but I did destroy many brain cells drinking muff punch! Thanks to Johnny, Bill B, Rabbit, and the rest of my favorite Assholes at ZHills....I've got a big grin on my face just thinking of ya!! Marc

Well, when talking about Rio, the 'safe stuff' is important. We call the place 'tiro de janeiro'....'shooting de janeiro' for a good reason. I suggest hanging out with the boogie participants as much as possible. There will be lots of Brazilian skydivers to meet. Always keep your bag in front of you, arm securely holding it. Do not think that just because you are in a place filled with people in the daytime you will not have anyone attempt to steal your stuff. Never leave stuff alone on the beach when going into the water. Stay in most touristy places, in groups. Drink bottled water. Those tasty juices sold everywhere have tap water ice cubes in them. Agua de Coco (coconut water) drinking it with a straw straight from the coco is a very healthy and safe way to stay hydrated. Highly recommended! There are lots of great snacks (salgadinhos) in the delis/bakeries/sweetshops found everywhere. Be sure to try Coxinha de Galinha, Empadinhas, Pastel, Esfias and kibes (the last are arab style snacks). If the Cachaça rum is too strong for you, you can have your fruity drinks made with Vodka instead. Called Caipiroska instead of Caipirinha, is a Brazilian daquiri type drink. Batidas are Cachaça or Vodka mixed with any fruit you want. Tasty and very strong! In Rio, one of the very coolest things to do is take the Bonde de Santa Teresa, the last of the cable cars. There are nice places to snack on top of the hill. Of course, the ride up to the Christ statue is very nice, as well as the ride up Sugarloaf Mountain. Rio is incredibly beautiful, especially seen from above it all! Brazil is a great place to visit, but most big cities should be avoided. Best is to hang out at beach towns like where the boogie will be held. You will experience all of the fun and pleasures and few of the hassles..... Boa Viagem! Tudo de Bom! Have fun! Marc
