  1. Well...the point of my post was that I would not sue anyone due to that incident as I do not have to jump and therefore can prevent myself from being in any of the possible dangerous scenarios that can and have happened (to me and others). I've done high alti hop 'n' pops prior to this at Elsinore and never had an issue. I know the hard opening was due to a packing error. I do not understand why you reference it as a bad idea. That would be like saying CRW is a bad idea as they pop high. Maybe I'm misunderstanding what you mean so if I am, would you please clarify? Life is short! Break the rules! Forgive quickly! 2. No. I know that in this sport I am accepting the risks and know that I could do everything right and still die. I do not have to get on the plane. I do not have to go to the DZ. I do not have to jump. Therefore, since I am willingly taking the chance that everything will work correctly, I would not sue. For example, I had a hard opening on one of my visits to Elsinore. I was doing a high alti hop 'n' pop. Sunk it to 10,000 and deployed. Had canopy at 9,999 (or so it seemed). My canopy opened so hard that I heard my entire spine from base of skull to bottom crack. The pain was so severe that I was checking to see if I broke my back (figured I could move my arms and legs so it wasn't broken). The only thought in my head at the time was the canopy's flying, and I need to be on the ground. Talk about pain!!! Got down to the ground, handed my canopy to a packer (there was no way I could pack after that opening), and as I laid it out, I noticed that my gear had torn - the hard riser insert covers had been ripped partially off. The right hand side was only 1/4 of the way off. The left hand side was 3/4 of the way off. The thought to sue never entered my mind. What did enter my mind was that I needed to pack for myself to know what my pack job is and to hopefully prevent another hard opening. Life is short! Break the rules! Forgive quickly! Kiss slowly! 3. Hugs, hon! Gotta try and cheer you up so I figured that you'd appreciate the stress poem. STRESS - The confusion created when one's mind overrides one's body basic desire to choke the living shit out of some asshole that desperately needs it. (Of course, the picture that I have at home with this on it is much funnier. It's a picture of a wolf flipping people off with a flea jumping off it.) Life is short! Break the rules! Forgive quickly! 4. God, grant me the SERENITY to accept the things I cannot change COURAGE to change the things I can and WISDOM to know the difference ** We so often see the short version of this prayer. I never knew until recently that there is a longer version. I've just recently discovered the rest of the poem. Thought you'd appreciate seeing it. ** God, grant me the Serenity To accept the things I cannot change... Courage to change the things I can, And Wisdom to know the difference. Living one day at a time, Enjoying one moment at a time, Accepting hardship as the pathway to peace. Taking, as He did, this sinful world as it is, Not as I would have it. Trusting that He will make all things right if I surrender to His will. That I may be reasonably happy in this life, And supremely happy with Him forever in the next. Amen. 12. umm....gulp....ummm.....hopefully, I wasn't in it too much....especially since I didn't remember the one segment we talked about, and when it was mentioned, I only vaguely recalled it. Damn...drank too much at WFFC!!!!! Life is short! Break the rules! Forgive quickly! Kiss slowly! Love truly, Laugh uncontrollably. And never regret anything that made you smile.
  13. Hey, Grega! Hugs, my friend. This individual is not a troll! I can tell you that I know this individual, have watched their landings, and am exceptionally impressed. This individual is Staff. The individual (who for their own reasons wishes to remain anonymous) is a fantastic canopy pilot, and I would pay exceptionally close attention to any advice given by this individual on how to fly my canopy and on skydiving. The thing that has impressed me is the fact that the individual's canopy is part of the individual - an extension of the person. I had the pleasure of watching a landing yesterday by this individual - with camera and all. The landing was a exquisite - the way that I hope to do all my landings one day. Why isn't the individual on any tours? Although I haven't asked the individual why - I can say that not everyone wants to compete. The individual isn't bragging. This individual is telling you exactly what their skill set is and does have people that can back up their story. And, I agree...it is unfortunate that people will not listen to the advice of squeezing every little nuance and ounce of of their canopy. Life is short! Break the rules! Forgive quickly! Kiss slowly! 15. However, if you go to a costume or party store, you should be able to find pink "hairspray." And that should wash out. Only catch is - if your hair has been dyed or permed, there is a good chance that it will not wash out unless you prep your hair beforehand. To prep your hair, use spray in conditioner, top with a light coat of regular hairspray and then put the pink stuff on. Test it in a hidden area before you do your whole head as some hair will keep the color - even with preping it. Life is short! Break the rules! Forgive quickly! Kiss slowly! 16. I know she doesn't have the requirements signed off. Not sure as to why they aren't signed off as I haven't jumped with her nor seen her jump nor am I at her home DZ. Life is short! 17. I think you mistake concern for Kelly's well being and safety as being an RW nazi. I certainly think that she should learn to FF as well as do CRW. Why limit yourself to one aspect of the sport? Why not play and have fun and learn. When she can not even get her A license because at 51 jumps she has not completed her requirements, there is a problem that needs to be addressed BEFORE she starts FF. That is where there are some issues and concerns. She's limited as to which DZ's she can go to as she doesn't have the requirements or equivalent for an A license. She's stuck as a student. Who cares if a DZ is mainly FF's or RW or???? That's not the issue. The issue and concern here is a student who is trying to get into FF. Life is short! Break the rules! Forgive quickly! Kiss slowly! 18. Sweetie...you may have done all of that but there is so much more to it. There are a ton of 2 way drills out there to work on. And with 51 jumps (hell...even with my 232 jumps - actually no matter how many jumps you have), there is always something to learn and get better at. And, if the RW people at your DZ are not willing to take some time away to work with you and help you increase your skills, maybe you need to look at another DZ. Or if need be, see if a coach would be willing to jump with you - and maybe give you a break on what they charge you. Personally, I wouldn't start freeflying with as little experience as you have. I'd give yourself more time and concentrate on what you need now to finish getting your license. (Side note: As far as freeflying goes, I've done 10 sitfly jumps. Have had a ton of fun learning and laughing at myself as I've done those jumps and have had some experienced freeflyers with me on every jump that got to laugh as well. And, yes, I will eventually do more freeflying, but I still have a ton to learn with RW.) Life is short! Break the rules! Forgive quickly! Kiss slowly! Love truly, Laugh uncontrollably. 19. HOT DAMN!!!! A 2-way!! YEAH!!! Instead of doing your solo's, grab the 2-way. You can and do learn a lot from them. Just because there is only 2 people in the formation does not mean that you do not learn anything. How are you exits - IC, OC, Point, Tail? How do you dive? How is your fall-rate? Can you match someone who "floats" on you and then all of the sudden "sinks" on you? How are your 180s? 90s? 360s? Do you really stay in place or are you backsliding away from the other person? Are you able to cat on the person? Side body on the person? Get the picture?

  21. Over 1.4? I have yet to make it to 1.0. Currently, my wingloading is 0.8 to 1. I am looking at buying a new (or new to me) canopy this year which will bring my wingloading up to 1 to 1. It'll be a long time (if ever) that I get up to a 1.4 or higher. Life is short! Break the rules! Forgive quickly! Kiss slowly! Love truly, Laugh uncontrollably.
