Just some thoughts after reading about Chris... Apparently the hard riser inserts aren't/weren't really an issue in that case, though it has made a few reconsider them. The issue really then appears to be a GLOC one, and it is obvious with todays canopies that this can happen to almost anyone of us. 2 issues to consider: 1- Cutting away before GLOC, or 2- an improved AAD/ G-load type device after GLOC. Someone had a similiar GLOC and couldn't reach up to his cutaway handle,, so maybe put someting lower, like by your hip similiar to those on a B-man suit, manually activated by the pilot. I'm no engineer either, but a G-load type of automatic cutaway should be easily desingable today and I would think could be done cost effective enough for most to afford. I would think by looking at the video of Chris' spin frame by frame some kind of rotational speed could be determined and help fill in the blanks of the physics problem. Then the timeline for events to occur before a cutaway would have some referance. There was an example given that showed a regular AAD may never fire in a spin due to the relatively slow vertical descent rate, even though there is a rotational speed with enough G-load to incapacitate the pilot. DVD burning can be the bane of home vidiots! Most newer players will play most all the formats, say the last year, back beyond that it's a crap shoot. I use this link to check on special projects for friends that really want a DVD, after I find out what DVD player they have at home. I had a real bitch of a time starting until I made sure I had all the current drivers and updates for the burner, editing programs, and OS. I had to make some changes in my OS in the way it handles some things which made a big differance. Once I got it all working together I quit changing things! I use Pinnacle 8 for the quick an easy edits. I use Vegas for the more time intense fun stuff, but then drop the rendered avi into Pinnacle to make a quick DVD. They all have quirks, and just take time to get used to. Best way for me was to just dive in an make some projects,,, then ya gotta postem so we can enjoy them!! edited to add.. DVD architect is a nice program that allows some very cool stuff for a profesional type DVD,, I haven't used it much yet so for me it's just being lazy and getting the project done quick by dropping it into Pinnacle... I plan on using it for the end of the year DVD with differant sound tracks for differant listeners all on the same disc Natural Born FlyerZ.com

My Digi Rebel is back from the factory... It went totally dead last month... I sent it directly to the only "real" Canon factory repair place on the west coast in Irvine California... It took ~2 weeks from shipping to return, I was happy with that, and it was covered under the factory warranty... I was concerned they would notice a "ding" on the flash foot and try and tell me it was dropped, which it was from ~18", and void my warranty. The cost then would have been over $200, but they didn't...

I'll have one for next season,, for now I'll just trash James or Leslies while I get it all figured out!! I did get just over 2 minutes last jump on Leslies GTI, from 12k open at 3.5... just starting to feel it ya know I love this shit! Natural Born FlyerZ.com

Hey Ed, AMR is all over, including the northwest here. I would look at what type of rig configuration they ran. I know some places will pair you up with an EMT-P so you'll get the ALS experiance and someone to mentor you along,, but not all places do. In Seattle they have rigs that are EMT's only and it seems all they do is grunt transfers. If you really wanna learn get paired with a medic at least. I've been in ambulances all over the northwest and haven't seen much of Dagny's situation up this way. I know the AMR guys here in Spokane are union, and that if you go from an EMT to an EMT-P you currently lose any seniority and have to start over as a medic, but the union is fighting that now and it could soon change. I worked EMS as an EMT for years and then got my RN and now am a flight RN EMT-P and I love it. Flight Nurse/Paramedics can get jobs pretty much anywhere. I know the U of A in Tucson has an accelerated RN program that you can get through in something like 13-14 months, with an agreement to work at the U hospital for some time afterwards and they will pay for the program. RN's are in short supply with hiring bonuses etc to compensate for some stressful conditions but that is a whole other thread. I don't know if AMR is in Tucson, but with Eloy and Coolige close by it's worth a look. I started EMS in Tucson and it's large enough to see it all, especially the South and West side! This may help somebody else.. Last year I started having an intermittant noise sounded like rice crispies on my audio,, this year it was worse and recently constant... OJ, an experianced cam flyer took out a can of compressed air and claened the membrane on the mike/speaker on the top of the body and poof,, the noise is gone,, he said the membrane can get dirt under the screen and vibrate... PS My friggin Digi Rebel just f*@kin quit on me yesterday in the middle of a B-man jump,, no bumps or lumps, it just died, no error messages, zippo!! Did one of these recently also,, The TM and I agreed he could come, we dirt dived the jump, stressing safety, and not getting amped up because it was the lurkers daughter,, We had him fly in on the TI's right side so I could see him approach and not have to look away from the TI and daughter,, I pointed to him so the TI knew he was coming in, slid to my right and got vid of him by his daughter.. he tracked away from the tandem when they opened, I followed him and watched his opening at 4K, and then I opened,, it went as planned and everyone had a great time... and was a nice video also!
