Higher reserve pull force on dirty rig (& reserve loop)?
Boogers replied to pchapman's topic in Gear and Rigging
How does one clean that? Do you run a shotgun cleaning patch through it attached to the end of a flexible cable? Blow high pressure air through it? Run water through it? -
Doesn't the manufacturer have an order form with a price list of the various options?

Quite a few people come back to the sport after long lay-offs. Life gets in the way sometimes. But the urge to freefall seems to stay in the blood.

What's the real cost of a tandem rig per jump?
Boogers replied to FreeflyIndian's topic in Tandem Skydiving
Messages 8 & 9 seem to be missing... What's up with that? -

What's a "carpet muncher". And why would anyone want to eat the dusty old carpet in a closet?

Yep, an unintended consequence of the gay marriage movement...

What is one thing that you will absolutely never understand the appeal of?
Boogers replied to promise5's topic in The Bonfire
Perfectly understandable by anyone who's ever had a job that pays so poorly that they barely squeek by from month to month, and need a credit card as a buffer for sudden, necessary unexpected expenses. Ever been broke and then lost your only pair of glasses? If you've been fortunate enough never to have lived on the edge like this financially, lucky you. However, you shouldn't presume that those who are not as lucky as you, are acting illogically. -

Wearing pants down below your ass. Body piercings. Pierced ears okay, but not those big holes people want to stretch into them. Whuffo you jump out of a perfectly good airplane? -
Right, I think most people equate "awesome" to the "admiration" part of that definition.

What is all that funny looking stuff on the left side of that box?

My location of Panama shows the wrong flag picture
Boogers replied to jonathan.newman's topic in Error and Bug Reports
Yeah, Panama is a long way from New Zealand. -
We really need a "like" button here!

You have to pick the beans. You have to roast the beans. You have to grind the roasted beans. You have to seep water through the roasted and ground beans. Who the heck first figured all this out?

I'm not sure that "awesome" is a good word to use in a crash that killed someone...

You can see that Quabbin reservoir from over the skies of Skydive Orange in western Massachusetts. It's my understanding that this is the water supply for all of Boston. If you wanted to poison a bunch of people, that would be a good place to do it. One of the jump pilots there told me that even if you have to ditch an airplane in the lake, you're in serious trouble for polluting the water with oil and gas. Just look at all the chaos created by the West Virginia water pollution incident. This is not something to be taken lightly. Oh, and some of you are over-reacting to the source of the linked news story. If you don't like that one, it's also available in many other mainstream news sites.

Just curious, how do you pronounce "Phuket"? Is it like "foo ket", or "fuk it"?

Boarding the plane with something wrong with your gear, like a mis-threaded chest strap, incorrect 3-ring configuration, or twisted leg strap. What do I win?

What the heck are you people talking about?

Yep, great marketing idea for the video generation. Had a conversation with one of the Gold Knights once during idle time at the DZ. He was going to retire and become a fishing guide, video the whole expedition, and sell the video of the boat ride and fish-catching to the clients. A great idea which he got from the skydiving industry. I hope he's out there fishing and videoing right now, and enjoying his retirement from the Army.

I see this kind of thing all over, in E-bay, Craig's List and other online sales sites. Some people are just idiots and don't know how to properly describe their items. And then they probably wonder why it doesn't sell... I just resign myself to skipping over those ads, with the philosophy that they don't deserve to sell, because they haven't listed it properly. Unless you want to spend the time to send e-mails to all the idiots asking for particulars.

Target Stolen Customer Information - Anyone Here Get Hit?
Boogers replied to LuckyMcSwervy's topic in The Bonfire
They're probably just spam-blasting those e-mails to everyone, knowing that some percentage of everyone will actually fulfill the criteria of being a Target shopper. And those folks will think of the spam as their saving grace... I get this kind of crap all the time, with notices about "my FedEx package", and so on. They're just trying to spark your curiousity to get you to open their attachment or give them private info. And they're playing the odds that some folks will take the message personally and seriously. -
Which: The really fast ones. Why: They upset the air molecules which scream in protest.

Target Stolen Customer Information - Anyone Here Get Hit?
Boogers replied to LuckyMcSwervy's topic in The Bonfire
Yep, could actually be a phishing scam, to take advantage of people concerned about their Target shopping, to actually dupe them into giving away their passwords through a phony correction scheme. Don't fall for it... -
The American authorities entrusted nuclear missiles to addicts
Boogers replied to Nelyubin's topic in Speakers Corner
Are you worried that a pair of officers high on marijuana will independantly launch nuclear missiles against Russia? Do you think the launch system and process would even allow that to happen?
