Well, you also know that you lose altitude at the rate of about 1,000 feet every 5.5 seconds. So checking your altimeter in the top half of the dive isn't as important, as checking it on the bottom half. You're not going to magically hit warp speed to zoom down to 5,000 feet in just a few seconds of tumbling.

Is Bill Wenger retiring?

You could get this: A man has all his guns confiscated because of a 40-year-old marijuana misdemeanor: http://www.offthegridnews.com/2014/02/07/police-barge-into-home-and-confiscate-mans-guns-by-mistake/ This is why gun owners are opposed to gun registration. They'll come after you, even though you've done nothing wrong.

List of Companies with Incidents???
Boogers replied to orphanedhanyou's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
And where might "your area" be? Every skydiving center has accidents. How many, will be a function of the volume of business they do. Those accidents are hardly ever the fault of the business that runs the operation, they are mistakes made by individual skydivers. So if you're trying to find someplace you feel is safe based upon a low number of accidents, that's an invalid way of determining safety. Even very busy places who have been around a long time and who have experienced a lot of accidents, operate as safe as they can possibly be. This can be a dangerous sport, if you can't handle that concept, don't do it. -
Since this particular incident relates to a predominantly middle class suburb, I don't think your concerns are very relevant. (And don't interpret this to mean that I support eliminating the picture from the sign). I think the signs should be uniform, state wide, and not vary suburb by suburb. People who legally carry guns should have one common thing to look for to keep themsevles out of trouble and within the law. If every suburb has their own way of displaying "no guns" areas, then it would be impossible for people to catch them all, and that would result in innocent people falling afoul of the law, when they didn't intend to do any harm. Imagine if every neighborhood had their own style of "Stop" signs at street intersections. I like the simple gun icon with red slash. Everyone can understand it.

Since you've said you have never jumped, how would you recognize a troll, since you don't have the knowledge to know what's real and what's not?

What is a random fact about you that people might not know.

I'm getting turned on. -
I would normally not keep returning to this thread - it's the kind you look at once and then ignore thereafter. However, since the posting of that wonderful "sweater puppies" photo, I can't keep myself from coming back over and over again, hoping to see more such sweater puppies...

What about people that can't read, or foreigners that don't read english? A picture of a gun with a slash through it might be kinda handy. Would it be a valid defense in court that they couldn't read the sign? Ignorance of the law is no excuse. Yet we print election ballots in a dozen different languages to accomodate people who aren't versed in english...

No such assumption on my part. This is simply for the narrow situation where there IS a no-guns sign. Given that, the question is what form the notice should take. And of course, I'm having a little fun duplicating the thread title from the other one very much like it, because the circumstances are similar.

How many of those confiscations were from people who intended to do something harmful on the airplane with the object?
-
All good questions. Seems discriminatory to single out pot smokers. Either persecute everyone the same, or treat everyone as innocent until proven guilty. What a concept!

Reading comprenhension skills not what they used to be? It keeps me away from people that have your attitude. Before you reply with a sarcastic note, bear in mind I'm done litigating with you as well. If I wanted to argue all the time I would have went to law school. If you make it down this way, come on down, we'll take you up for free. Best- Richard You didn't answer the question. An airplane is neither a gun, nor marijuana. Gosh only knows what made you want to throw that into this conversation. Maybe you should start another thread on fractional aircraft ownership.

This is a really bad idea. It's going to start a race war, with a bunch of retaliation attacks, just like what happened after the court verdict was handed down. Imagine what will happen if Zimmerman wins, again! On the other hand, if DMX (does he have a real name?) wins, maybe the blacks will feel more like they have their justice.

Whatever you do, please do NOT remove THIS intrusive ad: [inline DZc_Intrus_Ad.jpg] She's loverly.

That will add his sneer right alongside Alan Colmes' perpetual sneer.

Re: Longer bridle Are there any bad effects from a long bridle on a non-wingsuit jump? Like perhaps a higher snatch force on the bag, because the pilot chute is allowed to accelerate longer before hitting the end of the slack? Leading to a higher chance of a bag strip, where the opening flap rubber bands break dumping the canopy out on your back? You should be careful about mixing specialized components in unintended ways...

Flying High? Exclusive Inside Story on Bieber's 'Pot' Plane

Since she's a legal adult, free to live her life her own way, what would you do to her to make her quit acting that way? -
Flying High? Exclusive Inside Story on Bieber's 'Pot' Plane
Boogers replied to wayneflorida's topic in The Bonfire
It's just my opinion, but I think a more accurate reason he was handled gently is entirely because the border-dorks and attending cops know that Beiber's profile is such that everything they do will be scrutinized exhaustively. Being the worms too many of them are, I would contend they prefer to use and abuse their powers against the little people who enjoy little means to fight back. I had another thought. Perhaps that jet company flies a lot of big-name people around as a substantial part of their business. And maybe those people often smoke pot on their trips. Therefore, the jet company doesn't want to be on-record as filing charges against people who smoke pot on their aircraft. It could be bad for their business... -
Where in the world did you get that idea? It's wrong. You demanded proof: http://www.merriam-webster.com/dictionary/alcoholism http://www.medicalnewstoday.com/articles/157163.phphttp://www.medicalnewstoday.com/articles/157163.php

Then the law wouldn't affect you and thus the poll does not apply to you. What does your one-fourth of an airplane have to do with this topic?

It got onto someone's bucket list for a reason, and whatever that reason is, it's a good one for them. So they're not jumping because it's on their list, their jumping for whatever that reason is that made them put it on the list. The list is not the motivation, it's whatever preceded that which is the motivation.
