  1. And everyone wants to be a fox and control what others can say. So then we would need to allow everyone to vote on the legitimacy of a post, both pro and con. We wouldn't want just a few nay-sayers to be able to suppress content that many others would want to see. I think it best just to allow each individual to use their own eyeballs and judgement to skip over the items that they personally dislike.
  2. I don't think there is one place where the weather is nice year-round. Weather changes everywhere. So to jump in perfect weather year-round, you would have to be like those surf bums in the movie "Endless Summer" and travel around the world to keep up with whereever the perfect weather is during each season. Or be like lots of "snowbirds" who summer in the north and winter in Florida. Just a thousands miles or so of lattitude makes a huge difference in temperature.
  3. I've noticed that some people have their name in green, and others have them in red. It looks all nice and Christmasy. I looked in the profile and settings pages, and can't find anywhere to set the color of my own User ID. I'm thinking orange would look pretty cool. Where does one make that change in here? How come more people don't take advantage of this neat trick? - Boogers
  4. Why yes, you're correct, the entire country is really like this.
  5. What is "piching"? Is that like "pinching", the slang for stealing? Or is it like "filching", another slang for stealing. Or maybe a hybrid between the two: Pinching + Filching = Piching? Or is it one of those funny words that only the Brits use? - Boogers
  6. You might call this a "shoeicide".
  7. I don't know, I thought the swimming pool in the limo was pretty good...
  8. You already have the correct answer. But go to the DZ with a "plan B" in case you get weathered out for a while. Take a lawn chair, a hat, and a good book to read. If you have cloud cover, enjoy your book while waiting for it to clear. Even better, hang out and chat with people.
  9. Why do you need a doctor's permission to jump? What country are you in?
  10. ---------------------------------------------------- Oh the irony!! "Save his ass" is pretty mild compared to "fuckshit". Why would anyone want to stick their dick in shit, anyway? The mental imagery is totally different between those two phrases. Saving your ass is a good thing. Fucking shit is disgusting.
  11. What it is saying is that it's better to be raped than to shoot the rapist, because rape is a more minor crime compared to murder. This message is endorsed by rapists the world over. Note that it also considers self defense to be murder. I wonder if the ladies would agree?
  12. The problem is that while you debate the issue.... You are losing time. Take a peak at the incident reports at how many people chop too low to survive. Do you think those people made a choice to chop that low, or do you think they were so busy deciding what to do that they ended up low? History has shown that lots of people smarter than me have ridden an issue too low and then chopped. Certainly. If you're out of time, make your decision and go for it. I'm talking about if you still have a few seconds before cutaway altitude. Don't just blindly go for the first instinct cutaway option. Keep evaluating, keep thinking, stay flexible, use your time to determine the BEST course of action, not just the FIRST course of action.
  13. What's "SMH" mean? They all look PDS to me. (Pretty Darned Sweet)
  14. Changed the title, don't find the cusswords necessary. So, once he's sliding down the rock wall, he does nothing to try and get a good canopy over his head. Is it possible to pull rear risers or something and change the angle of attack to get the canopy to inflate more? Or would that just make things worse. What more could he have done to try and save his ass? I think I'd be trying anything and everything, rather than just to do nothing like that. Oh, and did the car parked down below get shrapnel damage from all the flying rocks?
  15. Ohhh, nice! .30-30? Better keep an eye on it so it doesn't sneak out and shoot someone.
  16. The government accomodates conscientious objectors by allowing them to abstain from taking up arms in war, out of respect for their religious beliefs. So why should that same government tell that conscientious objector as a businessman that he MUST pay for his employees abortions? It's up to the free market to decide the consequences of the decisions of such individuals. If you don't like their beliefs, don't work there, and don't shop there. But we shouldn't be forcing them to do things contrary to their beliefs.
  17. When I dump I look up and I can’t land it, it’s gone. No second guessing and no screwing with it. I lived with that rule for 30 years. Several others broke that rule and are dead. Fair enough. But sometimes "can't land it" is not clear cut. There have been a number of times I've had minor problems where the first instinct is always to go for the cutaway handles. But then, upon quick reflection, that minor tear in the fabric really isn't a big deal. It's flying straight, it's stable, it flares okay - I'll land it! The first instinct is not always the only necessary course of action.
  18. Cost will go up. People won't buy it. More people therefore uninsured. Insurance companies will go out of business. Therefore, even more people uninsured. All the exact opposite of what the idea is supposed to accomplish. It will make things worse. And for the bailout, the government will end up paying for the increased costs to subsidize coverage, thereby driving up taxes. And so it goes...
  19. Nobody forces anyone to work for an employer whose beliefs they disagree with. And government should not force people to do things against their protected religious beliefs.
  20. I don't think that's an good ironclad rule with no exceptions... Certainly, if you have a malfunction and decide to chop it, and nothing changes, then by all means chop it. But if you decide to chop it, and while reaching for the handles things get better, then you can do a split second re-evaluation of the situation. Of course you don't want to spend too much precious time on this re-evaluation. But we should always be open to new courses of action, if things improve, or get worse, and not abide by one and only one action, no matter what. We should be dynamically aware of what is transpiring, and always flexible in action.
  21. You play with your rolled up tacos at Mexican restaurants?
  22. Huh? You were blinded? How? How did it come back?
  23. I've done that, using the scanner on my computer printer. It's pretty slow. I can fit about four photos at a time on the scanner glass, which takes several minutes to scan. Then I digitally separate them using photo software into individual photos. It was an ongoing process for me for months. I'd do a few dozens whenever I had spare time to work on it. But after sticking with it for a while, I ended up with a very nice digital collection. Organized chronologically, named for who and where they represent. Turned it into a slide show and sent copies to my kids. Now everyone in the family has a copy of all the family photos, all wrapped up in a nice family history presentation.
