  1. ICON? I have 2 Javs and 1 Icon -- The Icon is just as comfortable and has better pin protection -- Comes fully loaded--stainless/hip rings/cut-in lats -you've seen the ads and delivery is 12 weeks If only they were more flexible with the color patterns it would be one of the top rigs on the market The pimp hand is powdered up ... say something stupid
  2. Lets think for a moment - if you cut away your main which is most malfunctions your probably at a 1:1 or less as 8 to 10 lbs of your 190 sabre just left you. If you have a total mal, well 1.15 on a Tempo is within limits and will save your life fine. Tempo never spent the big money to advertise like PD so it must be a bad reserve right (cost less, smallest pack volume all things that are bad right!) All of my rides (2) have been under a Tempo 150 loaded at 1:1ish. I would have preferred a smaller reserve as I am more used to landing with speed not coming straight down (so to speak). PD makes a better reserve if you like to pay more, have a bigger pack volume, and fit in with the other brain washed folks. Reserves are certified to the same specs regardless of brand The pimp hand is powdered up ... say something stupid
  3. Hey Kris - since you are more of the "average" wingsuit flyer why don't you give us all a comparision between your S3 and the V-1 I mean no disrespect by the term "average" your just not a sponored 800 wingsuit flight jumper if you catch my drift. Maybe start a new thread? Thanks Voodew The pimp hand is powdered up ... say something stupid
  4. OK!! OK!! I was intimadated by the handles falling inside the suit - maybe I can borrow your BIG rig and I will feel better. (It shouldn't have scared me as my Icon/Pilot/Smart rig works great for a wingsuit rig! It always opens soft and even flys straight with line twist. ) It would have been nice if the suit fit me better too - but don't bitch at least I got it in town for you to jump!!!!!! 5. Ted is completely correct I was afraid that if I jumped the suit our DZO would blow a f'in gasket as he hasn't been able to put an AFF student up in months due to weather. Should be able to jump it this weekend even though the suit is quite big on me ( I am not a fat ass like Ted!) The pimp hand is powdered up ... say something stupid
  6. Well heres the review -- the weather was great and the AFF students came out of the wood work so I did back to back AFF jumps all weekend. Hopefully Professor will give his review as he and Flyinbob both put jumps on it and laughed at me all weekend. If I remember right Professor was impressed and flew a 42mph avg as per protrack - maybe next weekend I can try it before I have to send it back - Thanks Paul PS due to the lastest info about weeks from now on our order! 7. I was jumping my own by jump 13 The pimp hand is powdered up ... say something stupid
  8. Thanks Paul it arrived in the mail today just as promised - now if only the weather will cooperate!! Thanks Voodew The pimp hand is powdered up ... say something stupid
  9. That is an awesome suit, it must of taken a while to build that one. It is amazing that birdman can build suits like that and still maintain that quick delivery time. The pimp hand is powdered up ... say something stupid
  10. Has any seen the new V8 I heard its coming out soon. I hear that the wings are hemisperical!!!!! I wonder what it might be called? But there is no real proof its just a rumor until you see one in action. The pimp hand is powdered up ... say something stupid
  11. Hey Paul where is that Sugar Glider demo you said that you would send me - might not be a bad idea to post where one can buy these suits too if your going to be sending out demos in the future. Later Bro Voodew The pimp hand is powdered up ... say something stupid
  12. I did 4 upper levels the first weekend I had my rating - 8 total, but I had lots of "training" experience. The pimp hand is powdered up ... say something stupid
  13. The forecast is for great weather - so come early, stay late, and fly hard Ted and I will be arriving late Friday evening (damn job thing), we will have beer and some video stuff if you want to come hang out at the RV FFC will happen early Sat. morning and then we all get to play. The plan is going to be larger formation tight no docked flight this weekend with rotations. We will work on docked flying with smaller groups at the next get together. Should be fun hope to see you there Jason The pimp hand is powdered up ... say something stupid
  14. I normally fly a GTI and have had no soreness or tiring from flying it except on high alti jumps (20k) The S3 I have flown didn't fit me great so I was not as comfortableas in my custom suit, that could have something to do with it. I was not able to point my toes with the suit pulling HARD on some point of my body After 2 jumps I felt burning in shoulders. I am able to fly an S3 like shit and descend slower than I can maxing out my GTI though. The pimp hand is powdered up ... say something stupid
  15. As for my status in all of this, I am a BMI. I flew from South Africa to California and paid to go on the BMI course. I have yet to charge more than my slot to give someone a FFC or to go on a coaching dive - so I think it would be hard to prove I was in this for the money. I've built a flock of over 20 birds at my home DZ for the purely selfish reason of having people to play with, We are all selfish that way Thanks for your input. The "how much experience" point is very valid Jason The pimp hand is powdered up ... say something stupid
  16. His name must be superman as that just sounds like a weeks worth of shoulder pain. It would be awesome to do that though - I am just to lazy to fight the burn! The pimp hand is powdered up ... say something stupid
  17. Don't take this wrong but WHAT???????? Andrew the thread is dead Quote 2 years ago it was dead I am confused where this post came from The pimp hand is powdered up ... say something stupid
  18. From my peers: I tried to forward this to Chuck but he has me blocked from sending him PMs I will stand down now Jason PS I was told it was OK to post this it was somewhat requested The pimp hand is powdered up ... say something stupid
  19. Just a question: So when the s&*^ hits the fan I am sure that a BMCI/BMI can than fly over cut away his wings, stablize the student and pull for them as I do during and AFF jump(without the wing thing) gone wrong? If they can teach me that trick by all means I am in and will forever take back everything I have said. Instead of getting in this position, if I think a student is not ready we go do a check dive (tracking) where the arms never go above the shoulders - simulate a wave off(with the feet for those listening) and pull sequence with legs extended - if all is good we go for the suit. I also require approval from S&TA or someone that has flown with this potential student if I have not done a jump with them (RW). I keep myself from getting into bad situations by being smart! I also teach the Arch technique just as in AFF if you feel uncomfortable arch more - guess what it works with wingsuits too!!!!!! I am trying not to be rude or out of line here as asked by my peers(the ones on my side) so please I am trying to answer questions not piss on shoes The pimp hand is powdered up ... say something stupid
  20. I don't know where you got that from - I never said I was the best and if you look in this forum somewhere I even state that I don't have the most jumps or the best at what I do. Does that we include a BMCI Real basis: is facts and truth not made up hype and bullshit and to the second part the answer would be yes, at one point and time, which opened my eyes to how this racket works. As for the have fun or don't do it comment ----- Who said I wasn't having fun - thats why I skydive its for fun. I just want others to share the feelings I feel - thats why I do it my way - no BS - no you got to pay me because I am a skygod - Just let me show you what's all about - it will change the way you think about skydiving And just for the record I don't know you either but with a name like Tammie I think I would smoke you in the testosterone games As for the staying with a first time flyer I used to think the same until our own "Brits" and her 105lbs soaking wet body floated up! up! and away! in "Katiebears" suit. It will humble you! You will also learn how fast you can fall behind the power curve when a base jumper with excellent tacking skills smokes your ass and laughs about it later saying I saw you down there sucking wind! I will continue to have fun Jason The pimp hand is powdered up ... say something stupid
  21. I will interpet the SIM (which is established under the USPA) the way it should be done -by reading it: C. Qualifications and preparation Back to Section 6-9 1. Before attempting a wing-suit jump, a skydiver should: a. have a minimum of 500 freefall skydives; or a minimum of 200 freefall skydives, made within the past 18 months, and receive one-on-one instruction from an experienced wing suit jumper b. completely read and understand all documentation and training information provided with the wing suit c. have the ability to perform exits and skydive in the deployment position described in this outline before making a jump with the wing suit No where does it say a manufacture certified instructor, if I am reading it properly it says experienced wingsuit jumper!! HEY THATS ME!!! As for the waiver thing, well you sign a waiver before you jump at the DZ that covers me and others as best as possible as long as I don't show negligence-again the USPA says I can give instruction As for again comparing this to a tandem rating there is once again no comparison I could go into the whole USPA (our governing body) approved tandem instructor thingy but why, been there done that. First off I figured long ago that skydiving for a living may be fun but its not to smart if you like to live in comfort. - So I have a real job and only do AFF because I like it and if my repacks are paid for and a few wingsuit jumps well thats just a bonus. I have never taken money from the DZ nor will I! So I will restate that if I give wingsuit instruction to a new wingsuit jumper I continue to jump with them the rest of the weekend - unless I am at a boogie doing more wingsuit instruction then I may have others lined up - but this is normally scheduled ahead of time and not expected.(In a case like this my compadres take over the flocking skills and they do it for free to.) I do AFF jumps if am scheduled to or asked to I don't fight to get a paying jump - once again I have a real job. Maybe, but Iwill have a lot of happy skydivers/wingsuit pilots -- and I have a job so I can get the suits fixed if I need to. I do ask that if they break it, they buy it or fix it, luckly all my suits are still in good shape and if it gets ruined, well I only pay up to $400 for demo suits anyways! As for the empty wallet statement refer to the job statement above. I am sure that the results to that were terrible, as a very current RW guy would in no way be able to fall stable with and arch, feet up and arms as far forward as possible until he realized this was a "tracking dive" Chuck, these suits are not hard to fly, remove the sigma you have helped to instill and more people will try. The more that try, the more you can try to talk into your awesome rating that I really want but can't afford because I have bought to many demo suits. Maybe if I get a second job I can afford to help support your cause in promoting wingsuit by paying you to give me a manufactures rating that will allow me to do what I have and will continue doing. Thanks for your continued support Jason The pimp hand is powdered up ... say something stupid
  22. Yes it is used much more as a bottle opener than a hook knife - somebody was thinking Anybody figured out what the other holes might be for? The pimp hand is powdered up ... say something stupid
  23. Well than Ed I must say I am sorry - all the Professional skydivers I know are tandem mules But you must know that you are the exception not the rule I travel to many bigger DZs Spaceland/San Marcos/Aggieland oh wait thats a small DZ -- anyways my job/life/wife doesn't allow me to fly to other DZs So Ed sorry I figured you as a tandem mule The pimp hand is powdered up ... say something stupid
  24. Ed you make you living off of skydiving - so if there are 80 tandems plus AFF students on the books how much free time do you have for fun jumps? Fun jumps are just that jumps after all your money making jumps are done. I personally have been trying to get a jumper at a different DZ with 1000's of jumps his first wingsuit jump. He is tandem/aff/video/all around professional skydiver. He has had my suits hooked to rigs, gone thru instruction and all the other stuff while waiting for clouds to clear or the night before only to find he has no time to make the jump because he is working...... I being from a small DZ that doesn't advertise doesn't have very much business(I average 75-100 AFF per year most being first jump students that will never be back) which allows me to give more time to some one wanting to learn wingsuiting. I wear a camera on every jump (unless it is super fricken cold) for fun and debriefing. I feel the non-professional skydiver can provide more time as he has it to provide Maybe I am way off base here ED maybe you are last on the rotation and have lots of free time...... But I bet not The pimp hand is powdered up ... say something stupid
  25. What I was saying is the professional skydiver moves on to his next paycheck - I continue to jump with this person the rest of the weekend. The mentoring continues - with tips and feedback at no cost The pimp hand is powdered up ... say something stupid
