Ultra Performance Canopies & AAD
Pobrause replied to jacketsdb23's topic in Swooping and Canopy Control
has anybody actually managed to accidantly fire his/her speed cypres already during a swoop/HP landing? ------------------------------------------------------- To absent friends -
3 Weeks ago a buddy of mine throw his JVX 89 away, said he was in a hurry during the packjob. 3 Jumps later on the same weekend he had to chop it again, said he took too long to pack it and was too meticulous. (~17 min) I tell you, air gremmlins!! ------------------------------------------------------- To absent friends

the position of your Eyewear changes relative to the fit and angle of your helmet. It might not be much but it does change. So to be able to always have your target dead center in frame you need to install your aiming device and the camera on one solid plattform... You don't see sniper rifles with the scope attached to your helmet rather than the rifle itself, do you? ------------------------------------------------------- To absent friends

I agree it isn't fun to fly. But the openings are perfect. Every single one is smooth as butter and never more than 20 degrees off heading. They remind me that I made the right decision switching from a Storm. Have you ever tried a Pulse? I really would be interested in your opinion about a comparison between those two. I actually need to jump one myself so that I can give better recommendations to newer jumpers

I might know somebody that has met somebody whoose mother one day talked to somebody, that told her a story about somebody doing stuff like this... what do you want to know? ------------------------------------------------------- To absent friends

http://www.dropzone.com/cgi-bin/forum/gforum.cgi?post=4632068;sb=post_latest_reply;so=ASC;forum_view=forum_view_collapsed;;page=unread#unread not that you could not have searched for yourself... anyway, I know of two people that jump their jfx and Xaos 21 as wingsuit-canopies and where doing just fine the last 3-500 jumps... Epicene is for those swoopers with small rigs that would normaly need to buy another rig to comfortably jump a mattress with an appropriate WL but are now able to jump 4 sizes bigger than what would normally fit into their rigs. Other than that I don't see a reason why anyone would be interested in a f111 canopy that will not last half as long as a normal zp one and doesn't offer that much of an improvement opening and definitely not flightwise. If it were cheaper though it might be an alternative but with a pricetag similar to modern zp-7cells I just can't justify for anyone to buy this canopy. Get a pulse if you can't navigate ------------------------------------------------------- To absent friends

You forget to charge the gopro? even worse, not enough of 'em ------------------------------------------------------- To absent friends

shortening is easy and you most likely only have to undoe one tag, fingertrap it a little bit more into ore cut a little bit off and bartag it again. To lenghten a steering line you most likely have to make a new lower part, the trapped line might not be long enough to leave enough slack to be safely and securely bartagged again the stitching itsself should not damage the line, undoing stitches requires a patient and steady hand but everybody that calls himself a rigger should have done it a hundred times during his riggers certification course and be able to do it without hassle. ------------------------------------------------------- To absent friends

Reasonable number of jumps a day?
Pobrause replied to wildernessmedic's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
When I have to pack for myself I found stupid things start to happen at jump 11-12. Going back to back with a packer and 3 rigs I found myself able to manage 16+ jumps without problems. (haven't gotten the chance to do more) Also depends on the type of jumps you are doing. Highpulls and canopy drills eat you up quite quickly. Also if I don't find the time to eat and drink properly during the day I start to notice some lags in brainfunction after a hot day full of jumps =) 25 y/o male with competitive sports backround and a 5000 kcal diet ------------------------------------------------------- To absent friends -

Decompresion question on freefall dynamics
Pobrause replied to kallend's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
I thought you re-compress in freefall, not decompress. Explain. Depends on the landing I guess. Harharhar Now I have coffee all over my laptop ------------------------------------------------------- To absent friends -
but it contains everything op is looking for. and actually I just wanted to share my awesome meme btw back to topic, because I'm bored and its not even wednesday: from the 57 guys and girls I started jumping with 75% said prior its gonna be their sport and they totally gonna do it for the rest of their lifes. Up to date I've got more jumps in than all of them combined. Most completed their FJC or AFF (7 jumps) but only a handfull made it to licence. Only 5 had done a tandem before and here in Germany AFF does not require you to do a tandem, so no one did. Everybody went up there with his own rig on his/her back on their first jump. Just like you will. Some of them including me had military static line training though. Last year we had 49 students. This year we have 52 new students plus a few that couldn't finish their courses due to numerous reasons. Again nearly all of them without any tandem experience. Just like you. Most of them are or were more or less saying that they want to become skygods, never leaving the sport until they die. Just like you From all of them (~150) I only know of 4 that kept on jumping regularly. None of those 4 were the ones saying: I know this sport is going to be the right thing for me and I will dedicate my weekends to blue skies from this point on. (now one could assume that the dz is shit and nobody wants to jump there but its not one but 4 different dropzones where we send the new jumpers and all of them show more or less the same result of jumpers getting attached to the sport) I'm not saying that you will not be the one getting addicted but the odds are not really in your favor. You just don't know what you are talking about. You know nothing, Jon Snow! And when you know nothing and you're about to go down a certain road with a hundredthousand jumpers ww ahead of you, you can safely asume you are not the only one ever to go down that road in your particular way. You won't even be the first doing it naked, stoned, drunk, reading tentakle porn ect... That beeing said please be the guy that stays! I really and wholeheartedly wish you all the fun one can have and that you will become, what you are dreaming of. Our sport is not growing and we desperately need new jumper. ------------------------------------------------------- To absent friends

definitely! not only because of the obvious snag hazard and beheading capacity but more importantly they open up quite easily and tend to get lost when dropped at 10.000ft Not the cheapest packing tool to loose on a regular basis ------------------------------------------------------- To absent friends

lol, power tool, thaahaha I was kinda expecting an electrical devise that helps you close rigs in a strange way ^^ those were invented as packboys here in germany, the inventor beeing Ulli Wambach. There are a lot of bad copies on the market, it's not just a metal stick with a spectra line. Can't say anything about the chutingstarversion though. www.riggingloft.de http://www.packboy.com/ links for credit to the man, who deserves the credit for them! they are sold as 'Original Packboy' Pretty mutch everybody here closes his rig with a packboy, and definitely not only tandemrigs. Its easier, faster and my girlfriend would only be able to close 40 rigs a day instead of 100 without them. The only point against them that actually makes sense is that when used improperly you could damage the grommets on the closing flaps. But having seen thousands of packjobs done by hundreds of different people I never encountered this problem in real life. ------------------------------------------------------- To absent friends

thank you very much =) looks clean and simple and very much like I could copy it quite easily for my MXV =D again thank you very much. Gonna keep the gopro though as tandem and team filming backup are you generally against a ringsight or did you find you don't really need one? ------------------------------------------------------- To absent friends

could you post a picture of your setup please? Seems to work nicely for you =) ------------------------------------------------------- To absent friends

+1 A 135 Speed 2000 might fit extremely tight in a container where a 126 Optimum is close to its limit. A Speed 150 in a Vector 304 is pretty much impossible. I would even doubt that someone is able to fit a 135 in a 304 within the recommended loop lenght. A 120 would be the maximum I would even dare to try to fit into a 304. Is someone out there jumping such a configuration? According to my rigging girlfriend you should compare a 120 speed to a 126optimum to be on the safe site fittingwise. But your mileage may vary. Dont expect wonders to happen though. ------------------------------------------------------- To absent friends

All GoPros have a open backdoor in the box when you buy it. It will be about $40 cheaper to test with that door than drilling a hole in the case ;-) ahhh the benefits of buying new, never had the pleasure ------------------------------------------------------- To absent friends
