He's talking about tandem canopy sizes for solo jumpers, say 280-300 sqft. With a wingload of 0.6 there is not much sliding. Basically he tried to be funny.

only if you get it really cheap. Resale value is basicallly nonexistent. And no, if you`re not ready for a velo you also have no business under a sensei. ------------------------------------------------------- To absent friends

Are you sure you didn't misread something? You've probably read about a break and surge method, something some folks and many TI are using to increase their flare power, making their landings softer. You basically flare during your final, then let your arms up, the canopy picks up speed and if timed correctly this speed can be used to get a better flare and results in a softer landing. So exactly the opposite to what you where thinking... Don't try this without coaching! There are certain canopy drills that also include landing while flying in half brakes. Though a very helpfull skill to have mastered it is meant as an emergency drill and not for normal landings. ------------------------------------------------------- To absent friends

So to ease it up a bit and with your tib/fib backround in mind... The only way I could imagine to be relatively safe that a reoccurance of this injury is highly unlikely is using high closing motocross boots in connection with an orthesis for your knees. Whether one would want to skydive with this is a different topic though. ------------------------------------------------------- To absent friends

If you don't care about anything else but ankle support go ahead and jump them. You might even get away with it with this 240 of yours. But as somebody, that wears military boots for a living I'd highly recommend not using them for anything other then round canopies. If you can't figure out why 3 pounds of weight and the biggest studs available around your toes aren't good for quick running starts and avoiding getting stuck during a landing please experience it for yourself. Your mind seems to be set already so go ahead and try them out. ------------------------------------------------------- To absent friends

Because you're not exclusively dropping down but coming in with a bit of forward speed. You'll want to walk, slide or run it out most of the time... Those boots are no good at two of those things. There is a reason most jumpers use shoes with a smooth running surface. DougH mentioned high top skate shoes and a soft brace. Go with that and start with some canopy coaching. ------------------------------------------------------- To absent friends

PD uses the 'one size fits all' approach when it comes to slider sizes. So your VC-RDS is a Vk-RDS is disguise and you should be fine using it on all VK-sizes. Check links below and measure for yourself if in doubt. http://performancedesigns.com/docs/linetrims/VC-071-111-Line-Trim-Chart.pdf http://performancedesigns.com/docs/linetrims/VK_LTC.pdf ------------------------------------------------------- To absent friends

Nearly all of the suit manufacturers out there are able and willing to build suits EXACTLY to your needs. Just because it's not on their website doesn't mean they don't do it. Either talk to a dealer or ask them directly about what you want and I'm sure there is no suit manufacturer that turns you away because of some velcro flaps... You might have to pay a little more though since they can't work with their ususal patterns ------------------------------------------------------- To absent friends

[please review] how to propack a parachute video
Pobrause replied to vintxrgr's topic in Safety and Training
+ 1 everything what dorbie said. Your flaking is messy at best. If your slider is 5 inch higher up on one side something is wrong with your packjob, wouldn't you say so? Your S-folds are far from perfect, your canopy is still halfway out the bag and you are already trying to close it, palavering about an issue with the rubber bands that wouln't be there in the first place if your packjob were even rudimentally tight and in order. There is quite a big number of other issues with your packing, that you don't talk about or seem to ignore. Please don't try to teach anybody else until you fixed them. There are some cool packing videos out there, search for Nick Grillet pro packing on youtube for example. If you want to show your technique how to bag a canopy with your chin/chest only show that and leave the rest out until you got better at it. Btw, it looks rediculous and I had a good laugh ^^ But if it works for you... ------------------------------------------------------- To absent friends -
get a larger one and wear it further up the arm. ------------------------------------------------------- To absent friends

Sony FDR-AX53 and Alpha A6300 with 16mm Pancake
Pobrause replied to CTSkydiver's topic in Photography and Video
Though I have no solution for a work around technique to compensate a hypeeye for the AX33/53 to have a status indication during freefall I've seen some guys using a little piece of plastic that clips the viewfinder in place (pulled out) to make sure the cam is running and then work with the sound of the cam itself for recording indication. With helmet on and earplugs in, turbine running it does proof difficult to hear it, though It's not world changing but it makes things a little easier. ------------------------------------------------------- To absent friends -
Yes, only the fastest speed reached in freefall and under canopy will be recorded. Also the speed numbers given by digital altimeters are highly inaccurate. To get the data you want you'd need a gps device like a flysight or similar. ------------------------------------------------------- To absent friends

https://vimeo.com/keithcreedy Keith filmed some of his more recent projects with the FDR Ax33. Yes it works and is awesome at that. At least in the hands of Keith ------------------------------------------------------- To absent friends

Symmetrie and proper rigging. If in doubt, read and ask around. Check on each and every jump multiple times that everything is where it belongs and your wings can inflate symmetrically. During a malfunction the wings and excess straps can interfere with your handles and possibly cover them. You might have to hold them asside/release them with one arm and cutaway/pull your reserve with the other/single handedly. Train different scenarios on the ground first. larger burble, so make sure to really throw out your pc, like the name of the system suggests. You are basically wearing a constraining jacket, which makes for a more difficult pull. I've seen a few video-firsties ending up head low and tumbling a bit because they didn't anticipate the decreased range of arm movement. A few practice pulls are always a good idea. depending on the size of your wings and deployment technique you might want to consider a longer bridle, if your openings become funny. I don't need them but I know some who wouln't like to jump without a wingsuit bridle when doing video jumps. depending on your weight/height ratio and flexibility you might need to take on weight as arching and fully collapsing your wings while looking down can be a bit difficult when videoing teams. Are you still at a comfortable wl if you're doing so? although you're pulling higher/ have more time under canopy train to release the snaps and dealing with your camera jacket quickly on the ground first. The added steps do take some time. Be aware of that when pulling lower than ususal on a video jump. I like to release the wing buckles and the thumb loops after deployment because they restrict my range of movement during swooping but others consider that unnescesary. Make a few practice jumps and find out the range of your jacket with an easy reference point. (sitfly/backfly, belly...) The bigger the wings, the bigger your range. Though they are a little bit more difficult to fly and handle, the increased range comes in handy sometimes. Big wings can be collapsed, small wings can't grow in an instant if you need them bigger. Big wings, lots of lead and you have range both ways. Thats what I am doing. Also I like the higher WL And lastly, have fun! Camera wings are an awesome tool.

go for a fairly used spectre or storm (or any other proven 7cell) and you should be fine, provided you are a neat packer =) ------------------------------------------------------- To absent friends

He is not in her blind spot. He is right in front of her. Look at the angle the jumpers are to the ground. ------------------------------------------------------- To absent friends -

In the fifth chapter of st Lucas it is written that she, who wears a G3, must wear cool sunglasses. In violation to that law she risks to loose many likes on facebook. Rookie mistake... ------------------------------------------------------- To absent friends -
With my Katana 120 loaded at 1.8 I had the best results/openings with a slider from Lookma that measured 56cm x 84cm. I had a smaller one prior to this that was 54x80 (already bigger than standart slider size) and 50% of the openings were slammers. Only beautiful onheading swivels after I bought the bigger one. On my 107 Katana, WL 2.15, the 54x80 slider worked best however. So I think you should be good with your 52x79. If only my VC84 was opening like my 107 did... If you order new and for some reasons the ordered size doesn't work well together with your canopy, Lookma offers to take your slider back and make you a new one in a different size, that should resolve your issues. So if in doubt about the size order new. ------------------------------------------------------- To absent friends

I accumulated enough power tools (pack boys) to have one in every piece of clothing I regularly use for jumping, say 5 or 6?! They have their designated pockets. Packing with them indeed requires a bit of technique but once memorised it's much easier and faster than packing bands. ------------------------------------------------------- To absent friends
