Interesting....My most recent bathroom conversations with my girlfriends have been about intubation (on really fat people) and lumbar puncture techniques, about the fact that nobody really pays attention to the 80-hour work week rule, about interns being *the* ER coverage at our hospital, about how long I should treat the yeast that grew out of my patient's sternal wound. But that was just today. Oh...there was also Sweets Syndrome....Leukemia Cutis. linz -- ----------------------------------------------------------- Did a transfer yesterday for some poor dude, priapism, over 24 hours, all female ER staff. It had to be a huge challenge to quit drinking while hanging around skydivers ......... ----------------------------------------------------------- Thanks guys. Actually, I did aff new in sobriety, and it really was a huge inspiration to stay sober. Congrats to those like myself that dont handle alcohol as well as others and are doing something about it. And for those that drink and enjoy it, more power to you, that whole party thing with skydivers is something I dont personally participate in, but enjoy seeing others have fun. It definately aint MY bussiness to judge anyone. Hell, I LOVE partying. I just dont do it well anymore. It was suggested in a PM to me that I "get a life". Well, I think I HAVE gotten a life these past 7 years. I personally had no interest in anything but drinking for too long. Now I have a Degree, I have a respectable job where I am able to help people (ambulance), I skydive, and I have a healthy relationship with my family. Oh, and I aint tryin to steal your shit or fuck your ol lady either I do pay up on beer offenses, with beer. Thats not a problem with me but I do respect those that dont. Again, not my bussiness. This really is an interesting thread. I do "hurry" on scene at times, I dont doubt that I will "run" sooner or later if it is how something goes down but I dont really see it. Reading both sides of the replies here I dont know if it CAN be explained (and understood)why we dont run. Seen some good attempts to explain it, but I dont think I can so I wont try. I will say, from experience, that some people definately should not be in EMS. It does take quite an effort sometimes to maintain professionalism, but I have seen EMT's AND Paramedics that really dont belong in the field at all.
