We just brought the 4X4 up to my post, supposed to get our first snow possibly thursday or friday. Its one thing in the surrounding mountain communities, but my station covers the Grapevine on I-5 here in SoCal. Mix an extremely busy main thouroughfare with a bunch of warm climate folks, throw in some ice and snow and ------------------------------------------ The Dude Abides. -

A few weeks back my partner and I work this dude that had been shot with a shotgun while breaking into some guys house, with gas can in hand, with the intent to kill him and burn down his house. This mornings paper says murder for hire plot, with an old boss of mine doing the hiring. So I worked for him years ago, and I end up working for him again, trying to keep one of his henchman alive ---------------------------------- Two arrested in connection with murder-for-hire plot The Bakersfield Californian | Thursday, Nov 29 2007 11:56 PM Last Updated: Thursday, Nov 29 2007 11:56 PM Sheriff’s detectives arrested two Bakersfield businessmen Thursday night for allegedly hiring the four men accused of attempting to murder a Rosedale resident and firebomb his home, according to KGET Channel 17. Francis Giangrossi, owner of Coast Roofing, and his stepbrother, Jim Skiba, were booked on murder, attempted murder and conspiracy charges. Skiba, 41, was arrested Thursday afternoon at the roofing company. Giangrossi, 62, was taken into custody at the sheriff’s Norris Road headquarters around 8 p.m. Investigators say Giangrossi shot himself in a suicide attempt Nov. 17 or 18, but survived his injuries. The botched murder for hire plot was motivated by jealousy, police said. Giangrossi is married to the victim’s former girlfriend. ----------------------------------------------- Strange days indeed ------------------------------------------ The Dude Abides. -

Its like herding sheep. Some will put on thier blinker and pull to the left, some will pull to the right, some will run to stay ahead of you, some will freeze. My biggest fear when driving (ambulance) code 3 is pushing someone through a red light into oncoming traffic. When completely blocked, I shut down the siren and leave the lights on staying way back, waiting for a green light, then please, get the fuck out of my way It really is disheartening how many drivers dont know what to do when confronted with an emergency vehicle in the rear view mirror. And unfortunately the reality is that its not just cops that get attitudes, theres some youngsters piloting these ambulances that have pretty unrealistic views on what thier doing. Funny thing is sometimes cops hang back and follow us, just to ticket idiots ------------------------------------------ The Dude Abides. -

I just got a shift change at work to a station in Frazier Park Ca. Its at the top of the Grapvine on I-5 and my ambulance has some sort of "automatic" chain instalation deally. I've driven it before and hear the chains rattling around under ther but havent actually used it yet. We also have a few 4X4 units, those'll be fun. ------------------------------------------ The Dude Abides. -

So this will be our first winter in the mountains and work will be no problem for me, but we are trying to find out what the best option is for my wife's commute. She will need to get out of our area in the snow , then spend all day driving where theres no snow. We figure chains will be a pain in the ass and with minimal snow miles and lots of dry road driving studded tires arent practical. She drives an 07 Honda Civic (I think). Anyone tried these things?? http://www.spikes-spiders.com/ Thanks ------------------------------------------ The Dude Abides. -

"The Dude abides. I don't know about you, but I take comfort in that. It's good knowin' he's out there, the Dude, takin' her easy for all us sinners. Shoosh. I sure hope he makes the finals. Welp, that about does her, wraps her all up. Things seem to've worked out pretty good for the Dude and Walter, and it was a purty good story, dontcha think? Made me laugh to beat the band ... parts, anyway." ----------------- and where I got my sig line....... ------------------------------------------ The Dude Abides. -

Hope you guys are ok today. The wife and I headed to Valencia (from Frazier Park area) late afternoon yesterday to see a movie. By the time we hit Pyramid Lake on I-5 the smoke was very prevalent in front of us. We turned around at Magic Mountain, completely socked in. It was really a complete surprise to me and I sincerely hope all of these fires are stomped the fuck out soon. I live in Pine Mountain and we recently had the Zaca fire in the area and it woke me up a bit to these wildfires. I wish everyone in danger the best, and remember stuff is just stuff, you can get more. Take care of you and your loved ones. ------------------------------------------ The Dude Abides. -
