Voter issues? Nah, they dont exist do they......
rehmwa replied to rushmc's topic in Speakers Corner
You might want to check your browser. The words "crapload" and "handful" appear to have been swapped in your post. either way - I'm good with Amazon's proposal. It can be applied fairly to all and is not biased - vs the two alternatives which favor one party or the other you'll have to rationalize your gripe with Billvon's statement "one single citizen" position of all or nothing - you guys can't argue in favor of one party the "all or nothing" for one position - but then argue "it's a very minor thing and waste to address it" alternate position just because it favors the other guys ... So you are saying the the ratio of takers to makers is even HIGHER - I agree. so is it bad or good? It's kind of a moot point really - if we talked instead about makers vs takers in terms of dollar amounts. then we are simply saying we are running at a deficit. People rationalize that that is a great thing also. the point of the article is simply this - What are the consequences (read expected human behavior) in a society where makers vs takers are loaded where takers are overwhelmingly in the majority....... We get a bunch of bumper sticker arguments and political BS (even in the article) - when it's really a decent concept to consider. it worries me - apparently others think it's a wonderful thing others seem to just ignore it so they can grind their own axes as tangents ... Why do I assume that you assume it's negative? or are you trying to throw out another strawman by putting words on my posts? I assumed you were setting up a strawman by purposely inferring that the term 'taker' was negative (rather than built of many categories some neg and some not) and you were gonna take the easy way out and argue against that - based on your words and tone of post. But your posts were sandwiched between jean and Dan's posts, so maybe I read the total and not just yours. anyway - is more takers than makers a good ratio? ... Voter issues? Nah, they dont exist do they......

I can sum up your position - alpha vs beta error "We should make it ridiculously easy for illegal votes to disenfranchise legal voters. This is much better that making it mildly annoying for legal voters to take their right seriously enough to go get a free ID." Who do you want disenfranchised? A crapload of legal voters that get their votes cancelled? or a handful of people that just don't give a crap enough to get a free ID practically handed to them? Funny from someone that seems to side with those that tend to advocate that voters 'should' have to pass an IQ test or 'current events' (I read that as a political litmus) test to be allowed to vote at all? (though, honestly, Billvon, I don't think you've even sided with your buddies on that specific one. but that's the team you play with) ... Hi Jeannie - you are off on your own tangent. good points, but not what I'm talking about. Productivity vs pay scale is market driven, lots of inputs (and threads) about that already in place here. Lots of threads also about citizens choosing to shelter they money vs government forcing them to do so due to lopsided policies. I don't have a dog in that fight, I understand both sides of the discussion. ... you keep thinking the term 'taker' is negative - I dispute that broad assumption (strawman). I'm wondering if the ratio is healthy. Not that a category exists. ... certainly - but it doesn't cancel the fact that the money has to eventually come from somewhere else (from a maker, or print it) If the government just took everything from everyone and then gave it out to liberal preferences we'd have 100% takers. what percentage would be makers then? 10%, 60%? or would we make ourselves feel better and just redefine the terms so it's also 100%? ... I actually clicked the link - Despite the author's bias - I think I tried to put the takers into categories without any positive or negative context. Just very simply: makers - private sector income takers - government provided income the labels strictly as a means to define that whatever money the government provides, still needs to come from an external source (or print it.....) at least that's my take on it... but that certainly was a lot of defensive posts on the matter anyway let's call it category 1 and category A - does that help? so - which should we have more of for a healthy economy? ... article isn't clear on whether government employees are also counted in the numbers of "takers" however, I wonder if the 'taker' number might be bolstered by minors, etc....... it might or might not balance out, don't know, don't want to do the research ... Does wind speed and gusts affect descent rate?
rehmwa replied to k_marr08's topic in Safety and Training
It doesn't matter. It's excessively weird how closed mentally people are to things like this. They refuse to believe it. Yet it's so simple/basic. the wing always see the airspeed it's designed to fly in. (It's a free flying craft. Not a KITE tethered to the surface - that's where they get confused) Until he's open over a cloudy and socked in day (with wind) and can't see anything but the cloud layer below him, he won't get it. (the clouds are moving with him, so he can face any direction and it won't matter one bit, the view will be identical). Now, the fact that people will 'CHOOSE' to fly their brakes different on final approach depending on whether they are upwind or downwind, etc is a totally different thing. ... Look, anyone different than me should be mis-characterized, demonized and anonymously slammed until me and a bunch of others like me feel self-righteously justified to use the force of law to take their stuff away and used for things I like. The rich are easy targets and they have stuff - so I can convince myself to hate them so I don't feel bad about treating them like subhuman cash machines. Even better, if I can convince a bunch of other people to hate them (I don't care what the reason is), maybe they'll vote me into a medium paying elective role if I'm honest - or if I'm very dishonest, the same role could be very lucrative. Then, once in power, I can play those voters and that hated group against each other until they both VOLUNTARILY start giving me power and money - bwahahahahahaha you never know ... I'm goggling all over but can't find that Norm Kent cover shot of the Ken and his hawk together in freefall. lots of articles, and a Nat Geo video clip. But just that one shot.... it sure should - note my comments about all of us driving in the same speed range. BOTH top end and bottom end. But I'd hesitate to say that the guy going 70 in a 65 would fit the description of 'impeding the flow'. (Ditto for the guy going 65 in a 65). I'd say purposely blocking would. Driving the wrong way. Straddling the lines, etc etc etc etc would. ... Driving is a one dimensional activity - a monkey can do it - being proud of your driving abilities is like being proud of being able to put on pants

you mean use the pants rack and an exercise trampoline to launch yourself into them each morning? I'm pretty sure we do. Edit: example - you come barrelling up on that guy in the left lane. he's going 70 in a 65, you wish to go 80 and have to slow down. you spend a couple miles behind him (not tailgating, just dealing with it), grumbling and complaining, then get off at your exit. you lost maybe 30 seconds commute time max. tell me this - what good did it do you? you can answer after you take your daily heart meds...... for that matter - how do you know he doesn't have radar on and might have inadvertantly just saved you a speeding ticket? ... "I" don't decide. The speed limit is the law and society apparently decides that. But my post was about the current setup with maximum speed limits vs a target speed we all have try to maintain. I'd prefer the target speed concept. Too fast and too slow are equally dangerous, yet we only ticket on one side. Same as you, even though I move over also (it's courtesy and conflict avoidance, not necessarily the right thing to do though), it doesn't bother me if I come up behind a slower driver that doesn't mover over for me - provided they actually are somewhere near the speed limit and not terribly below it. I refuse to fault a driver that's obeying the speed limit. That's just childish. For that matter, getting mad while driving is about the most stupidest thing that all of us do. It's just a simple task and if people just drove predictably and by the laws of the road and kept calm about it, life would improved for everyone. I admit I get irked about a normal amount, but I do try my best to not let it happen - it's such a waste of energy. I really have no comprehension when someone 'brags' about how angry they say they get when telling driving stories. Seems really dumb to me. Edit: Ha ha "egg tossers". visualizing a hood mounted catapult. To examples, we had about 40 MPH on the backed up highway I take in every day. Along flies about 80 mph a car in the supplemental 'truck slow lane' that's there on an upgrade. I'd love to see that behavior caught and a license removed....Must more dangerous than pulling over the singles in the car pool lane. ...
