Wow...so those kids are not American to you? That right is granted in the constitution. you're such a strict constructionalist - such a conservative I'd've thought you'd side more with the constitution is a 'living breathing document' crowd. you never know when a true fanatical right winger will come out of the closet.... ... you've posted pics on bookface - you were too skinny to put off any significant amount of heat. better payoff to let you play rather than heat seating equipment ... p-shaw!!!! big money and fraud is just the tip of the iceberg big rowing is about as crooked as it gets. payouts by equipment suppliers, crooked coaches, competitors taking bribes and rowing in the wrong direction, 'coasting' classes, the women, the groupies, the drugs, the orgies, the initiation rituals, the self mutilation......it's the worst of them all. bunch of vagrants and no-gooders. and then there's cricket - having a special 'bat' is just an excuse to introduce a custom piece of equipment to jack up the price these punks are scary, scary misled kids, lives are ruined. at least you weren't on a polo team ... this ^ I'd rather just be clear to the student what they are allowed to do at this time, or clarify what I mean by 'self supervision' rather than let them interpret it in some odd way. I doubt any good instructor just tosses that label out and then walks away without any further insight. ... Just in general - haven't we pretty much proven that that tactic is a complete waste of time? Haven't we proven that about twice for every page of Speaker's Corner threads since the beginning? "You strawmaned first",,,,,"NO!! you did, my strawman is just to balance your strawman"....."well, your strawman is 7 of 10 ridiculous and mine is only 2 of 10, so I get to put another 5 of 10 strawman out"......"crazy, then you'll have 2 strawmen and I'll only have 1"...... On the otherhand, it's a pretty decent microcosm of today's politics - "Old people will be melted over toast if -A" well "the planet will implode if -B" nevermind - it makes sense now ... Ha! You fool, you're looking at the wrong border. First, while you're getting distracted by all the brown people, "they" (the pasty-faced ones) will come here for "winter vacations". Then they'll start taking over our DZs. Then they'll go after our daughters. Before long, "Hey, asshole!" will be responded to with a group "Eh?" Hell in a handbasket, I tell you, and it's all cuz you ain't keeping your eye on the ball. I mean, puck. Whatever. not too worried. if the 'pasties' get too far south, like, southern Wisconsin, or say, Illinois. They'll just die off from heat exhaustion, dehydration, skin cancer, or malnutrition from drinking really weak beer,,,....... It's kind of self regulating. I know,, I know...I just have a problem with clear people ... What is so evil about requiring id to vote?
rehmwa replied to Anvilbrother's topic in Speakers Corner
So given those possibilities the one you chose was to extrapolate one person's job performance to an entire "crowd's" political understanding? I thought you pretended not to go in for that sort of thing? I prefer not to. but it seems to resonate better with this crowd. I know you can appreciate it. For the children Keepin' it simple for the oblivious crowd - they know who they are...... or maybe they don't...... ... Or just one person who doesn't understand her job properly? possibly - or more likely the trainers are so completely over sensitized to the issue that they didn't understand 'their' job properly. Or, the no-ID crowd actually is way over the top. Or thsi individual is trying to make a point or something, or...... whatever the reason, apparently nowhere in the that train of communication did common sense take over honestly? the politically fanatical in this state make people like Quade and Rush look absolutely centrist. I imagine the reality is that the volunteers are purposefully trained to do exactly what she did, absolutely and conspicuously ignore any attempt to show an ID (I saw it in line 3 times - short line). Suspect the reason is worry that if someone (perhaps an elderly grandma, or someone that lives in a highly urban area ) sees an ID being used, they might all of the sudden feel "intimidated" about not having an ID themselves and just leave the polling place and not vote. Sensitive people like this typically vote left, and we wouldn't want to lose those votes. - the examples here are ridiculous and this type of thought process is highly present.....and our voter fraud may very well rival old time Chicago frankly ... So I go to check in and just hand her my ID. She gets a little scared and looks at the wall and says "we're not allowed to use ID, you have to tell me"...... 1 - Me USING ID as a means to provide my name and address is worlds different than them REQUIRING the use of an ID for providing name and address. 2 - What if I was was a mute and this was convenient? Why do they hate people with disabilities? Methinks this is an example of the no-ID crowd being way over the top and not understanding their own position. ... I'm good with your quotes - pretty much exactly my intent but to clarify - the "please help me" is more about "can't help it so force social advocacy" rather than entitlements but I'm a big fan of unrelated rants though....and extension of the topic to general social gunk is fine by me regardless...... ... You should stick around narce I know this is about one topic only, but this applies to so many other aspects of everything in life. "I'm a victim of chance, please help me" vs "I'm an individual capable and willing to responsibly live my own life based on MY choices (or just plain how I am) and don't need or want any help, just respect that I'm my own boss and let me live my life as I see fit for me" Individualism and responsibility is great, that's the easy part - getting the busybodies (from both spectrums of politics and all spectrums of social intrusiveness) to respect that is the real key - I don't know how to do that except by one person as a time being an example to others and hoping it grows. ... SCORE - this ^ you take 100 people and ask them WHY they are that way: some just are that way (born), some might have chosen, some it might be good for them, some it might not be, etc etc etc individuals are individuals - the whole one size fits all thing is really annoying ... you (or he?) are missing the point - Example - A great female athlete is touted as an inspiration to girls everywhere. Bullshit - why can't she be a role model for anyone that wants to be an athlete. Michael Jordan should able to inspire ANY kid that likes basketball. not just boys, not just minorities. etc etc etc..... If we can't get past that, then these cosmetically targetted role models just emphasis differences in appearance rather than greatness in actions and accomplishments. It would be so much cooler if he clearly wants to be an inspiration to anyone that wants to be a business success. we really need a role model of a gay, muslim, libertarian, that likes to wear body armor while nailing partisan leadership to the wall next to baby whales that are huge successes in wind farm manufacturing ... that's in the list, yes - though that description does not have a race, gender, orientation, etc on it, so it's more of a group of like minded people. However, it's (rightly or not) branded as a race, gender, orientation thing - right or wrong - so if it's hijacked (internally by membership bias, or label externally by those that want to weaken it) that way it loses impact in my mind. I know it's just a philosophy, but the closer we get to individualism the better off, I believe, we'll all be. ... 3rd option - screw history, option is, "so what, it's a normal option for living a life, and not a big deal, others can deal with it or not" I'd assert there isn't two options, there's three: 1 - hiding it 2 - not hiding it (I call it 'coming out') 3 - COMING OUT!!!!!! I'm a fan of #2 - sad for those in #1 - and a bit tired of #3 happily seeing more people opting for #2. The more people treat these things as normal, the faster the remainder of society will overall treat it as normal. ...
