  1. best answer yet - IMO - They wouldn't squirm one bit - the politicians will allow it, but with a TON of debate and publicity, and FINALLY, pretending agonizing, they'll "permit" you to do this with your own money and then act like they personally choked up the $10M themselves (in their minds that would be truth since they consider that money 'theirs', not yours anyway) then behind the scenes, they'd find some way to just get their cut directly from those charities after you hand over the $$$$. (windfall tax on charities......) ... Driving is a one dimensional activity - a monkey can do it - being proud of your driving abilities is like being proud of being able to put on pants

  4. I suspect the cop was following whatever local law he is constrained to support. No doubt the 'employee' call it in as a 'beating' or 'abuse' rather than a spanking. unless the "bastard" you are talking about was the employee that called in the spanking - then yes, the bastard deserved to be shot (not dead, but maybe in the butt for being one himself) ... 13. {{gas on the fire}} I'm pissed at the first cop for not giving you, clearly a scofflaw and felon, a ticket just because your dad is a cop - that's dirty. AND for wasting a lot of time talking with you when he could get the job done efficiently and return to the road and be available for real emergencies rather than wasting time pulling over speeders The 2nd cop sounds efficient and did her job. {seriously, it's all a matter of perspective - for me, I'm not a big fan of giving people a pass, it encourages repeat offenses - and speeding (or driving too slow also), running lights, screaming through neighborhoods, etc are all dangerous to others and clearly selfish} your conclusion that cops are sometimes nice because they let you off kinda hurts the whole argument if you think about it - the first cop was great to point out the accident, and most here are likely gigging you since that story absolutely had no affect on your driving behavior. So his story and letting you off with a warning was a total waste of time.....so if he knew about your response to him being nice and explaining stuff to you.... - what possible reason should he have to even try to be nice or helpful to the next person? If you want to speed, go to a track, wear and drive the right equipment and get the training necessary to learn to race correctly. It's really quite a bit of fun. ... 14. If you only have one cop - and he asks everyone he comes in contact with to see their license......... 15. I'm waiting the funny post: I'll go with $2M, but then use the extra $4M my morals indicate - to lobby congress to change the tax code to force all the other millionaires to also pay 60% like I think I, and they, should I do this because I love the country. ... 16. most want to absolutely minimize their taxes and use the extras to voluntarily do good deeds - funny, I thought people that wanted lower taxes were all greedy asswipes......... However, I also have no issue with someone that wins the lottery and spends it all on themselves - if that's what they choose to do. (actually, it's not even 'having no issue' it's really "it's none of my business if they want to keep it, share, or otherwise" ... 17. The questions have NOTHING to do with tax law. The hypothetical is - if you were to legally owe 20%, but your politics make you believe the rich SHOULD pay 60% - will you DONATE extra in line with your beliefs? Or does your morals only apply to others, and not yourself. Everyone dodges the questions about paying extra by say "well, my beliefs don't apply to me because I'm not rich...." this allows them to think about it without the copout. I'll go edit the scenario to say the winnings are $10M (pre-tax) for clarity ... 19. It's directed to those that preach about the rich that 'should' pay more and whether they are hypocrits if they were put into their shoes suddenly (yes, lottery takes the taxes off the top, but this scenario simplifies by asking one to write the check directly by assuming otherwise - I assumed someone would eventually be purposely obtuse and obfuscate in this manner, it's funny that someone honestly was confused by the hypothetical instead of just being obnoxious ) ...
