Thanks, focusing low and out (at least like I was taught) still shows the team and the exit clearly. ... Driving is a one dimensional activity - a monkey can do it - being proud of your driving abilities is like being proud of being able to put on pants

You see that, I was trying to turn it back on Andy and he just turned it into a series of humorous bit from various posters across the board. Biting, wry humor....meet clever and witty rebound. It really is fun to work with a master. ... Driving is a one dimensional activity - a monkey can do it - being proud of your driving abilities is like being proud of being able to put on pants -
Leading - I've been burned more than once with newer teams, not only is the count a gamble, but they seem to launch flatter instead of a nice steep presentation (noted above) - but this is another thing newer teams do - forget the air and try to flatten too soon - it makes a lead exit even trickier. Leading or peeling, there's one bit of advice that's helped me also (more so for leading exits which I prefer). While waiting for the count, I keep my aim pointed low and outside - the wheel of the Otter for example. The team will tend to more easily just drop right into frame and gives me one less thing to think about in terms of keeping them in frame. I tend to leave between set and go unless the count is really slow. then I just try to anticipate the go and pop my wings early. If someone is leaving, that's a pretty good indication it's my turn too... Edit: But I do wonder if there is a set expectation of what needs to be in frame on climbout. I'd not want to bust because I'm "too far out" - you can still see motion...Anyone comment on this? BTW - I'm an outside center. There is absolutely no good reason for "most" exits for the Outside center NOT to give a big ol count with his leg (presenting) leg. It helps the vidiot, it helps the exit. Our camera guy always asked for "more Cowbell" - i.e., a big ol' leg count. he got it every time - even on head jams. It's only too big a count if you literally pull the point out of the plane with his grip on that leg - even then, they should just toughen up and keep the grip (yes, Steve, I'm talking about you). lastly - got a lot of hints when I started from Quade's website - you might need to do a search on 'futurecam' and 'quade' and 'skydiving' If it's still there. ... that's a really racist assumption and insensitive to people of all races that live in economically challenged locations Didn't offend me and I judge myself to be quite a sensitive person. you're such a delicate flower, not that there's anything wrong with that heck, I've even had lunch with a delicate flower on occasion - just not too often ... just go there and ask around - first hand knowledge and meeting the crowd is really what a new student needs find the DZ that matches you and that you feel like you belong - always better than a website of random strangers. Watch how the instructors interact with their students. Ask questions. I've visited Lodi and always enjoyed myself. I've visited other DZs in the same region and ditto. ... now it's really getting thin - who then creates wealth, give me your three top careers. I'd like to understand your definition. I'll take three guesses 1 - I guess the miner that actually takes precious metals and stones from the earth....(by your logic, I assume he didn't create it either, he just took it from the government put it in play, but it was always there..) 2 - the sun (fusion certainly counts) 3 - Internet porn site - you seem intrigued there ... Republican party in a nutshell - vote no, hope yes
rehmwa replied to billvon's topic in Speakers Corner
"instead of" ? How about "in addition to"? cut all, cut deep Across the board cuts simply indicate an inability to discern the difference between waste and investment. no - when the government can't bring themselves to do just that, then their allowance needs to be taken away. When the focus of the cuts is dramatically different in opinions that align with political party and not common sense and prioritization, then pretty much we have too much subjective spending across the board. Again, you guys want to make it about military cutting only and have blinders to all the rest (it seems). Everyone else wants to cut military spending too, AND they want to look at any other opportunities to cut. no one is arguing with the military cutting (except the analogous nutbags mirroring your position on the other side - and they have the same erroneous approach.) the argument has to move from just one fringe vs the other fringe trying to win the philosophical debate - it has to move more to practicality. That means examining the entire spending structure from the biggest to the smallest - ignoring nothing. Absolutely nothing. The point is - there a ZERO "trivialities" in the budget. Not any more. It's funny, the poster I responded to noted that the "Trivialities" barely constitute more that 3% of the budget. That's bigger than the entire sequestor. How can 3% be trivial in one discussion, and the end of mankind as we know it in other discussions? Edit: this is a good discussion. The OP post about politicians be politically cowardly where they vote in a way that placates their constituents is a 'dog bites man' topic. But the approach to spending cuts stays a meaty topic. ... So, who do you think is ultimatley responcible ?
rehmwa replied to rushmc's topic in Speakers Corner
Only a dog-kicking douche would think that. That is, if he could think at all. the trick to puppy kicking is to kick directly from behind. Else they don't get that clean top spin. It's a great transition from that wet, wide eyed look of utter trust to them spinning through the air with their tongues flapping against their face Edit: actually, I think with Jeanne taking off, people are just trying to fill the void. Claim what you like, I've been here about that long, I think. IMO - it's not pushing right at all, and the attacks seem to be more vitriolic from the left, frankly. It's drifted, but not right or left. It's just gotten more idiotic. The split is still there, only the volume has gone up across the board. Everyone talks like they are reading bumper stickers. A few people try to be reasonable on either side, but they get beat on until they lose heart and just get jaded. ... Radio Topic - Reps propose spending to soften the impact of sequestor
rehmwa replied to rehmwa's topic in Speakers Corner
So I heard, not confirmed. Reps propose a spending bill (I have to assume it's military or enforcement) to soften the blow of the sequestor the Dem response is "we should just cancel the entire sequestor" what the heck is wrong with every single one these people? This is a dry run of our ability to handle a SPENDING CUT. And stick to our mission to cut spending. And this one is a drop in the bucket to the overall cuts that are really needed. Call it an inconsequential cut for us to practice the habit. And their responses are both "we can spend, at least, on the stuff we like" and the rationale is to ease the pain - the pain that the nation is just not experiencing at all so far sick and tired and frustrated with politicians....... ... freefall discipline has zero to do with canopy choice. The DZ probably just killed fun. although, just the other day, I did see a newbie in a freefall suit was sent back to the hanger to trade out his Sabre 190 for Velo 79. They told him to change his suit or change his canopy - for the sake of the image of the discipline. Then they duct taped a Go-Pro to his forehead just to make the point. ... same thing happened to belly and it's what drove the informal type to Freeflying. Now they are being driven to wing suits. (The "next thing" in the sport attracts two types of people: the cutting edge skilled limit breakers; and the slackers that want to set low expectations for themselves. Though everyone 'thinks' they are in the first group....; ). you need both types, though, for it to stick long term.) As in belly - FF scene is already settling down and the serious skilled jumpers and the 'fun' skilled and not-so-skilled jumpers are finding their like minded buddies to play with. It's not dead by any means, multi-orientation jumping is the new norm and it's great fun to jump with people that can fly belly/back/upright/headdown. ... So, It is a revenue problem? Or a spending problem?
rehmwa replied to rushmc's topic in Speakers Corner
no,, belay that - sorry to be a smart ass. Bolas' note is a good one. this is all common sense stuff though and the idea that our leadership is so inept, so opportunistic, and so crooked, that this is kind of thing people talk about has really pushed the cynicism button so back to Bolas' note However, in the down years, I don't think you take out a loan to cover it (analogous to paying off the principle in good years, then this would imply to could take more debt in bad years), you still have to reduce spending. This would drive us to the most efficient government over time. If you start playing balancing act between good and bad years, we just return to today's state where politicians just claim that EVERY year is a bad year and thus increasing debt becomes the norm for us frogs being boiled. ...
