Wrong...Republicans want less spending and lower taxes for everyone. That's Libertarian, not Republican. Reps and Dems are both driven by social agendas that require a lot of spending on "their" favorite stuff. The target tax philosphies? I suspect you might be right. But the "less spending" item is bull for both parties. And both parties.....their spending agenda is WAY more important than any targeted or general tax reduction philosophy. The Tax philosophies are more that the Dems want only the rich to pay for everything, the Reps want everyone to pay for everything (and both want to eliminate taxes for their special friends rich or poor or whatever). And the Dems toe the "only the rich pay (and the middle class, but don't say it out loud please)" simply because it gets them votes, they'd also take every dime from the poor if they could. They have better PR people. Don't doubt, both parties would thrilled to take everything if they could figure out how to do it and stay in power at the same time. ... This is a lot worse than the Rep's version, BUT let's get this in perspective.. The Reps version claims we are balanced, NOT now, but in about 20 years, we can start paying down the debt. So we get balanced in two decades. what happens in two decades? 1 - we have 10 changeovers in Congress 2 - as many as 4 different presidents 3 - probably 2 different major events that were not planned in the budget 4 - party in power likely changes 3 times 5 - 20 to 40 new budgets will be proposed short answer - NO ONE is committed to balancing the budget until we see a plan that balances within a year. I think cutting the White House tours was an excellent opportunity for PR that was missed. It's a clear example that low value added expenses are on the block, and that the little perks do, AND SHOULD, affect anybody and everybody. We're all in it together. Everyone of all status can take a tour, so this affects everybody equally. (Unless of course, you are a famous celebrity hired to perform in person for the family - then you get in no problem) ... Posted with permission: We've raised so much over the last 2 events (100 Jumps, 200 Jumps efforts) and had a great time doing it. Both the National and MN Parkinson's foundations have benefitted greatly from the efforts. Kevin is the real deal - He's been fundraising for a cure for years. This year is special - originally it was going to be the last year as the "300 Perfect Jumps - The Final Chapter". With Kevin's snowmobile accident, we had to push out a year. Kevin is stepping up now despite the set back and now - he'll be promoting the cure by making as many jumps in a day as we get. It's worth checking out the story and contributing or volunteering. It's always good to talk very specifically to the vidiot and key out exactly how the exit stages - and his input should be very primary whenever possible (IMHO).
