  1. you're getting soft here. Though this is the right statement, I'd have expected you to just acknowledge that everyone is wrong. ... Driving is a one dimensional activity - a monkey can do it - being proud of your driving abilities is like being proud of being able to put on pants
  2. My post was like 20 posts ago. So I'd suggest you go watch a film. hell, let's both watch a film - more fun than this thread - I agree and lastly, It's pretty difficult for Owen Wilson to be any less Owen Wilsony than he already is. It's pretty much all he's got. But that's ok, if you are looking for Owen Wilsony content in your movies...... ... 4. I want the right for non-felons and non-crazies to own what we want without government intrusion. I want the right for local communities to have all the options possible for THEM to choose how best to protect their citizens and their children - without the feds butting into local needs. I don't care much about the argument of the 2nd, though it is applicable and I want people to give it the same level of respect and treatment as all the other protected rights. I think we spend WAY too much on military, and also on EVERYTHING else. You can lie comfortably in your simple little stereotypes about people, but it's a false illusion for such a smart and decent guy. ... 5. In effect you're saying that you don't want to take personal action to protect yourself or your kids enough to take away rights from citizens for an illusion of safety. That seems profoundly selfish to me.... ... Driving is a one dimensional activity - a monkey can do it - being proud of your driving abilities is like being proud of being able to put on pants
  6. I don't feel that way about your position. I consider that the every day gun control advocate do have good intentions. The comments was that the actions those advocates are pushing have consequences that the advocates either haven't thought through, or are actively ignoring just to get 'something' done. Pointing out possible consequences is not a character attack, and responding to it in an emotional manner doesn't help bring clarity to each other. ... 8. A civil case can 'arise' for pretty much anything but the idea that the verdict can be in complete opposition just sucks and makes no sense at all... The defense should be able to come right in and provide the verdict from the criminal case and have the civil case dismissed immediately (my assumption is that the civil case is based completely upon the opposite verdict of the criminal case - not some peripheral thing or unrelated items) ... 9. if it's not tiny, then I'd just as soon stay away from there Up here, it's the exception, not the norm. And people of faith are pretty much the same as those that aren't. I usually let the extremes of both positions just kinda piss on each other and I stay out of it. ... 10. seriously, at 26 jumps, you shouldn't tie up your options It sucks to FF with someone wearing a RW suit - It sucks to RW with someone wearing a FF suit. You don't want to be the guy that it sucks to jump with. get the right suit for both disciplines - one of each - the fit is important, if you buy used, get help from someone GOOD in each discipline enjoy both disciplines to start - there's a lot more to either than you even realize right now try the other stuff too once you get more experience - wingsuits, camera, instructing, etc etc etc - it's all a blast if you approach it right ... 11. That's great - mine first went in at age 5. Pretty much 15 to 45 minutes a year since. No more. last weekend she was able to hold a sit for a few moments - as for mantis flying, she could train on double digit average 4-way team right now if she decides to become a real skydiver.... It's really a lot of fun to watch your kids learn this stuff my proudest moment in 26 years of skydiving was flying as a full family just a couple years ago when we finally were able to put lead on the kid and still fly good. ... 14. it doesn't, I just don't bother with the discussion for that tiny segment of people because it's a waste of my time and theirs. For that matter, I don't give 'faith' a pass or judgement. I take each individual only and act accordingly. They don't represent ALL the faithful any more than I represent everyone of a more agnostic persuasion. Stereotypes are for the lazy. Just because a tiny percentage people of faith lean a bit "too much" on some silly stuff, doesn't mean we get carte blanche treat the majority of the rest as having the same issues. Most are able to keep perspective just fine. ... Driving is a one dimensional activity - a monkey can do it - being proud of your driving abilities is like being proud of being able to put on pants
  15. Yes. Going back to the GWB years. I actually define the GWB years as the 8 years he was in charge. 17. do they have omelets? I like pancakes. I'm happy to stop when someone invokes religion on it - it's a non-starter at that point. Fortunately, most people are able to separate personally held beliefs from physics and math. Those that won't (I specifically used "won't") tend to fuel those biased against people of faith. ... 19. Maybe it would be useful to have a tag at the top of the forum for people to advertise their tunnel camps like the 'tunnel time classified' link letting people know about these camps is useful, but not really the intent of the forums (but if the greenies don't care, I don't either) ... 23. If he's smart, then he'll figure out that you are upset when you fling feces at him. Smart people understand the symbolism and depth of this type of protected Speech. I find it much more effective than a weird haircut or funny t-shirt. Nearly as effective as topless demonstrations - which we seem to be having a shortage of.
