I totally agree. I used to be part of the 'never date at your home dz' camp.... but I've changed my mind. If you think the person (plus yourself of course) can be mature about whatever happens then I say go for it. Otherwise you might miss out on a great relationship. Do you have evidence or a reference for that? The signals are digital and the precision timing is done by cesium clocks in the satellites, so it's hard to see how there could be any difference as long as the signal is received at all. To learn more about how GPS works and timing errors associated with it, here's a helpful site. In short, yes satellites use atomic clocks but the receivers don't... and there's your error. Do you think? Maybe it's the particular receiver you're using. I don't know much about the receivers airlines or other pilots use but is it possible that it's always had that error? Different grades of receivers can vary a lot. Pink Mafia Sis #26

I totally understand why you'd want animal control to be your last resort. But considering you don't think one of the dogs will even get the medical care it needs.. I think you may need to go ahead and call. That's just sad. Since you said the dog is walked on a huge chain, it sounds like the owner wants it (and raised it) to be aggressive. It may have been a sweet dog under different circumstances. That sooo pisses me off! And like everyone else has said... what if it goes after a neighborhood kid. Good luck, let us know what happens. I don't think you can degrade accuracy in only certain areas. How would that work? There are twenty-something satellites... they would have to distort the clocks in specific ones according to their relative positions (which keep changing). It seems like that would be too difficult to do without compromising accuracy in other locations. And anyway, there are so many benefits (mainly financial) to the civilian use of GPS that I really doubt they'd go back to Selective Availability. Pink Mafia Sis #26

I saw this in the Birmingham News today. I'm glad some of your rigs were recovered! Man sought in theft of skydiving goods: Pell City police have issued a warrant for a 37-year-old Birmingham man sought in the theft of an estimated $90,000 worth of skydiving equipment from Alabama Skydiving's offices at the St. Clair County Airport. Detective George Massey said Christopher Wade Davis of 16th Ave. South in Birmingham failed twice to show up for questioning and is believed to have fled the state. Massey said the warrant issued Tuesday charges Davis with first-degree theft of property stemming from the burglary on Dec. 12. Massey said all but two of the eight stolen riggings packed with parachutes and automatic activation devices have been recovered with the assistance of the Moody Police Department and an employee of the skydiving club's parent company, Adventure Skydiving of Atlanta.
