I just want to reiterate what he mentioned in an earlier post. He isn't learning on the velocity 96. He has 450 jumps on his last canopy and had already been doing 270's under it.... and from what I've seen they've been consistently nice swoops. Just trying to clarify... I'm in the same situation. I work full time & go to school at night also. And this isn't the same school where I did my undergrad... so I don't feel particularly connected either. I originally had other plans for that weekend and when I mentioned to my family that I wasn't going to walk.. they were less than happy about it. Soooo... that's where the dilemma started. I think a good way to look at risk is per person exposed to the risk. I've looked on a government website a year or so ago which had shown deaths (not injuries but deaths) associated with an activity per 1 million people exposed. I can't remember exactly but here are some numbers it had listed: riding in automobile: 2 hundred something deaths per million commercial flights: .01 deaths per million use of an unvented space heater: 15 deaths per million skydiving: 14 deaths per million eating peanut butter: 8 deaths per million I originally researched this because 'parachuting activities' was listed on that site as having 2,000 deaths per million exposed. My professor (I was taking environmental risk assessment) proceeded to tell our class how much of an idiot I was for skydiving. When I defended myself... he basically said that he was right & I was obviously full of crap & lucky I wasn't dead. So I got some numbers from the USPA website to present to him. I have to return a letter to my university soon saying whether I intend to participate in graduation in May. I walked already when I was in undergrad & got my bachelors degree. This time it's for my masters degree.... should I walk again? I have a MOS Mirage and have an MXS ordered (should be here soon ). The sizes ending in S are the short sizes. I'm 5'4" and it's sooooo comfortable! I've not tried on a Javelin though so I can't compare the two. But I can definitely say that the "S" sized Mirage is comfy . Pink Mafia Sis #26
