    Wish me luck...

Congrats! Good luck with the new baby. Yves.
  3. Yup! IIRC, only two AN-225 were made, and at some point, they had to remove parts from one to keep the other flying. Then the remaining one was grounded too, with an uncertain fate. Then Antonov decided they had to make the grounded AN-225 airworthy again, and are also planning to re-start AN-225 production, as the demand for super heavy airlift capacity has increased tremendously in recent years. The AN-225 is HUGE. The AN-124 is routinely used to carry Airbus A-320 fuselage sections, and other Airbus parts. The AN-124 is actually a bigger aircraft than the C-5 Galaxy I have reallly cool pictures of the AN-225 that came to Quebec city some time ago. I'll scan some of the pictures, and post them here. Yves.
  4. It takes me about 15 minutes to get to the closest DZ. About 10 miles. The other DZ is about an hour (60 miles). The longest distance traveled to go to a DZ, is 1600 miles (Lake Wales). Yves.
  5. Now that'd be nice! A dungeon ! And I would add in the same sub group: Race and moral issues. And all DZ.commers would have the possibility to hide this entire sub-group. Politics sucks. Yves.
  6. Obviously a Democrat. I'm not democrat or republican.. I'm Canadian! Yves.
  7. My DZ.com pet peeve is politics... and politicians. "Politics" is just a sweet word to describe legalized theft. Politicians just suck the money out of your pocket, and give it to their friends, and there's nothing, you and me, can do about it. Democrat or republican. Conservative or liberal. Capitalist or communist. It's just the same bullshit. You wanna talk about politics, Why not go to the rec.politics newsgroups? There are plenty of them. Please stop wasting Sangiro's bandwidth. If i could hide the political threads on DZ.com, I would.
  8. I know how you feel! My Sabre2 is brand new too, and is slippery as a fish. Yves.
  9. Welcome back to the sky! Have fun, like the rest of us.
  10. My most memorable jump was my first hybrid jump, with Max Cohn, Steve Blincoe and 7 other jumpers. This jump was done last december, in Lake Wales FL. Every time i think about this jump, brings a big smile on my face. Yves.
  11. A visual check of other people's gear, is a very good thing to do IMHO, on the ground, prior to boarding the aircraft, and also while in the aircraft. Sometimes, people are just unaware something's wrong with their gear. Well done dude!
  12. Condolences to family and friends. Yves.
  13. Hard drives need "air" to work properly. I work at Hutchinson Technology, we make the suspensions that hold the read/write head in hard drives. Our suspensions hold the head less then 3,000th the thickness of a sheet of paper from the surface of the disk, and that head rides on a cushion of air. At high altitudes, there is little or no air for the head to ride on, and your disk will crash easily. Get up high enough, and the head will just drag across the surface of the disk. I would be curious to know if anyone with a digital camera has taken a microdrive to altitude. reply] I thought the drives were hermetically sealed. I know a guy who has had several IBM Microdrives fail, while using them in his helmet mounted camera. He stopped using them. They just can't withstand the rapid change in barometric pressure. Yves.
  14. Compact flash cards made it to 4Gb. http://tinyurl.com/kivh And the Compact flash card capacity is expected to exceed 16Gb by the end of 2004. as for the price...... Yves.
  15. Geez! Quite a blast. I had heard about this explosion, but hadn't read about it though. Thanks for the link. Yves.
  16. You'll have many more birthdays to come! Yves.
  17. COWS (we have loads of cows close to our DZ) Cakes, 'cause there's always someone bringing home-or mom-made cake farts, ... no, not farts Did you know cow farts can endanger the ozone layer? Yves.
  18. We have about 25 of them at my DZ right now. I'm not sure, but I think we have one of the largest flock , if not the largest flock in north america. We have wingsuit jumpers jumping in just about every load at my DZ. We also have 2 BMI. Yves.
  19. It's sad to see so many casualties, in only one accident. Labatt BLUE skies forever . Yves.
  20. Another good way to learn the basics of another language, is to participate in the french, spanish and german forums on DZ.com. Even if you don't post, just trying to understand what's written there, will help you a lot. Yves.
  21. Geez, that's a good way to promote skydiving! Yves.
