  1. Thats got to be the ONLY good thing about not jumping this summer. Not having to smell those bombs. Can't believe I said that. Something good about not jumping??? Just 18 more days until some airtime for me and I can start smelling some of Dave's wonderful presents on the way to altitude.
  2. Just thought I'd get in on this PW thread.
  3. Check this out. It might help you out. edited upon request
  4. All right, religious debates. I wonder how long it will take for this one to get locked too. I had a somewhat similar experience as downwardspiral did. I didn't see the inside of a church until I was 12 or 13. I didn't go to any kind of a service until 16 or 17. So I wasn't influenced by the church from birth. By then I could think for myself and I had a hard time believing some of the stories that are said to be true. Examples: 6000 year old earth, Noahs Ark, Jonah and the whale..... to name a few. So I questioned everything and always got the "you gotta have faith" answer. Sorry, doesn't hold water with me. BTW, Quade, do you have all these links that you post bookmarked previously? You seem to have a link for every subject.
  5. Vanilla. That's it. Simple plain vanilla. Yep, I'm boring.
  6. Thats pretty funny. I said almost this exact thing in my original post, and said something else I thought I'd get flamed for, but I edited it out. Just thought you'd want that tid bit of worthless info.
  7. Well I'll be different. I plan on going out of this world with as many holes as I came in with.
  8. Jesus Christ!! When is it going to end? Just about anything you carry could be used as a weapon. I wonder how far they plan on going with these "security measures"? I think they are starting to go overboard.
  9. I'm certainly no dream analyzer or anything, but it seems to me that dreams of bouncing, or going low, or whatever, show what your afraid of. For me it was bouncing. Some part of your subconsious mind still hasn't accepted the fact that it could happen. My dreams were of me throwing out low and watching the canopy snivel to impact. Strange think was, the lines were a good 300-400 feet long. So I'm looking at a little canopy sniveling 400 feet above me. Of course I walk away with no problems. Once I got comfortable with the idea that things can go wrong, the dreams went away. Edit: Found it. I was looking for my post about the wierdest dream I had. It made no damn sense at all. Post 6 of the thread.
  10. When I did my water training, I never touched my legstraps. Once I got the chest strap off, slipped the rig off my shoulders, I just swam out of the legstraps.
  11. Yikes!!! I'd call or email them. But since you have to send it half way around the world, I guess it would take longer. Hope you get it soon!
  12. I did my 8 year in November. Check out their page. Lots of good info. There are a few pdf's that will address your questions. Got mine back in about a month. Yep. There is a pdf on the link above that covers this. The 4/8 year check/maintenance is $180. More if you need batteries or repairs. That's really up to you. Do what you feel comfortable with.
  13. Hummm, nope, can't say I have. Interesting idea though, but uh, not going there.
  14. Who gives a shit what your mates think? If you enjoy it, listen to it.
  15. Thanks everyone for thier replies. I've got a better idea what everyone else thinks about this subject. Once I get to the point where I could jump with lowtimers, I personally wouldn't have them pay for my slot. I look at it as giving back to the skydiving community. However, I do now understand why one would request you pay thier slot.
  16. Here's the situation. You have a few hundred jumps. A new jumper just off AFF approaches you and asks if you will jump with him/her. The new jumper needs work on a particular skill, fall rate adjustment, docks, whatever. Would you pay for your own jump ticket, or "require" the new jumper to pay for your slot as well, since you are acting as the coach for this jump? I ask this because when I was just off AFF, I wanted some help with sliding horizontally. I was introduced to someone to jump with but he wanted me to pay for his slot since he was acting as the coach. I was fine with it at the time, but now I feel if the "coach" agrees to jump with you, he/she should pay for their own jump ticket. What do other folks think about this?

    Stressed?

Humm, a jumping cow with a dolphin. Interesting.
  18. Jesus Christ!! Where do all of you come up with the cash for this? I'm at a shade over 2 years and have 78 jumps. Take into account I haven't jumped since april. Guess being a broke ass college student is the culprit. That's certainly the culprit for the summer. Can't wait to get back to Texas A&M next month. I get some free money due to my financial aid.
  19. Yup, this community is called dropzone.com, not surf.com.
  20. same here. It is just not attached to my freefly pants just yet.
  21. At least you are getting paid to do nothing. I'm jealous as hell. I've done nothing for the last 2,160 hours. Not having a job f-ing sucks.
  22. I wore it 24/7. It was always visible to others, but it never started a conversation. I haven't worn it since June. I haven't been able to jump since late April and I took it off one day and just haven't put it back on. Kinda like a constant reminder that I'm grounded.
  23. I decided when I was 18 I wanted to be an engineer. I've always loved aircraft, aviation, so aerospace engineering seemed perfect. I was right. I graduate in May and hopefully graduate school after that. I didn't pick engineering for the $$, but because I knew I'd love it. I heard once if you love your job, enjoy waking up in the morning and can't wait to do it all again the next day, your rich. And it has nothing to do with money.
