Yep, I hear ya. Good ole' Temp has been temp for a year, probably be a temp for the next few years. Maybe I should rename it Pertemp. Permanently Temporary.
-
Mine is named Temp. As in temporary.
-
congrats Pabs. Damn, I'm missing all the fun stuff at Aggieland. Hopefully I can get back in a few weeks and get in on the fun. Lynn

And the one everyone has heard: Why do we drive on a parkway and park on a driveway?
-
Well, when at school, 15 minutes. When at home (for the summer), 2 hours. Really must find a place to live in College Station, Tx.

I got a chuckle out of how just fucking huge his upper arm is, but then his forearm looks normal. Don't know maybe just me, but I found that funny looking. Edited because I graduate in a year with an engineering degree and I can't spell.

The previews look ok, but that doesn't mean anything. I thought T2 was a great movie; great way to end the Terminator story, so I thought. I hope this movie doesn't just screw it all up. By that I mean T1 and T2 were great, then they finish up the story with a crappy movie like T3. That would really suck. But I'm hoping for the best.

Always pack my own. My canopy used to slam the hell out of me on every opening but I've learned how to slow down the opening a bit. And I'd rather not pay someone else to do it. Check this one out too.

I've had my Racer about a year now. It's an OLD Racer too. God awful amount of velcro on it. Seems like most people I talk to say the velcro is bad. My take on it is if you keep the velcro in good condition, that means when it starts to lose its stickyness, replace it, immediately, it's probably as good as the tuck tabs. Seems like people start having problems with worn out velcro. My personal opinion on all the velcro, I hate it. But I hate it due to all the extra hassle when packing. Especially the velcro down the sides of the reserve tray. It takes a bit of time and effort to keep your risers from moving around and mate that velcro properly. On my Racer, the velcro on the sides of the reserve tray really do not line up quite right, so I really have to play with it to make sure the velcro is as secure as it can be. If I had the money I'd have Jumpshack install the tuck tabs for the convience factor, not the safety factor. The velcro riser covers, same thing, they should be ok as long as they are in good shape. I know a guy who freeflies his Racer with the velcro riser covers and has never had any problem. However, it is a newer Racer. My rigger didn't complain when he repacked my reserve either. As I recall, he said it is a bit more work, but no harder than other containers.

Whoops, yea, guess I'm a bit more tired than I thought. Didn't think that one through. I should have just said a heavier person will fall faster. Gotta fix that post...
-
This is true, but ONLY in a vacuum. We have air resistance in freefall, and that has an effect on velocity. The heavier the person, the faster they will fall. Think about forces from your physics class. To reach terminal velocity, the downward force (gravity) must equal the "upward" force (air resistance). Assuming your still accerating toward terminal velocity, for a 200 pound jumper, the downward force will be larger (F=ma) than a 150 pound jumper, thus meaning the air resistance must be higer for the forces to sum to 0, and in order to "obtain" the higher air resistance, your velocity must be higher. Hope this helps. Edit: I can't think straight right now. Thanx for the correction Casch.

Come on AggieDave, when you plan on posting in this thread? Gotta add to those 10,800 posts you have.

I was told I had scoliosis probably 10 years ago. I have had absolutely no problem skydiving. I've never had to do anything more (i.e. stretching) than anyone else due to my back. If I'm on my feet all day then my low back is hurting a bit, but I guess thats normal for anyone.

Mad John Cash Every pirate is a little bit crazy. You, though, are more than just a little bit. You're musical, and you've got a certain style if not flair. You'll do just fine. Arr!

Ugh!!! That just sucks. Makes you wonder what the hell the prof is thinking. "Hey, I have a good idea, let me surprise the final on my students 2 weeks before finals start. I'm sure I will be able to fail at least half of them with this scheme."
-
Oh, that pic is nice.
-
I'm with you on the finals. Finals are just one more oppurtunity for the prof to screw you. Yes, I'm kidding for the teachers out there, but that is what it feels like sometimes. I've got 2 engineering finals and a final report on an experiment I've been running all semster due on tuesday. Love writing papers and studying for finals at the same time....
-
Congrats Angelee!! I don't think I congratulated you on Saturday so here ya go!!!!
-
Just 24 for me. Sucks being a broke and busy college student. I just can't understand why the profs feel the need to give homework and tests.
-
Absolutely Skymama. Someone told me once if your unsure about the winds, look around. If the experienced folks are sitting out, you probably should too.
-
Nothing wrong with that in my opinion. If you don't feel you can handle the situation, don't jump into it. Better to wait for another day of jumping than to take a ride to a hospital.

It is all about the almighty dollar. If the price of the crude oil increases, the oil companies want their share of the profit. When the price of crude oil drops, they hold onto the higher price as long as they can to make the most profit they can. Same reason gas prices skyrocket in the summer. More people taking trips so more gas is needed, so they jack up the price to make an even bigger profit. Really sucks for the rest of us. And you know when crude oil finally runs out, the oil companies are going to say they have this new power source to replace the oil that they just dicovered. Truth is they have had it for the last 20 years, but supressed the technology so they could continue to make a killing on the oil.

I jump an OLD racer and it is absolutely covered in velcro. The main flap is "secured" with velcro, but fixed that with the tuck tabs or walrus teeth, whatever they are called. The riser covers are velcro and there's velcro to secure the risers on either side of the reserve. I'm sure these have names, just don't know it. There's nothing wrong with the velcro, PROVIDED YOU TAKE CARE OF IT. Replace it when it's worn. It just sucks to deal with all that velcro when packing, and it does eat up the lines when they rub each other. My opinion: get as little velcro as possible.
