A really graphic Picture Skydiving?
SlyFox replied to Kid_Icarus's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
So in your opinion, all new students should be shown photos of what might happen. I think that was an inopropiate response. Not all will have the misfortune of seeing someone die in skydiving. I was stationed at Bragg for ten years and only heard of one death. More deaths from driving. There they make over a thousand jumps a day. Injuries yes, but still doesn't mean everyone wants to see photos. If you read the reply, it said she did not appreciate it being email to her. *****Why would anyone jump from a perfectly good airplane? Because it isn't much fun if it's broke.**** -
I'll be down at the hillbillie boogie this weekend also. If you're looking for someone to jump with, I would be more then glad to do some jumps together. I am hoping to make it there on Friday, but will definitely be there Saturday and Sunday. I'll have the jump suit with the flames going up the legs and sleeves. See you there. *****Why would anyone jump from a perfectly good airplane? Because it isn't much fun if it's broke.****

My family swears I'll kill myself if I continue...
SlyFox replied to rokitmom's topic in Introductions and Greets
Getting them to go is the hardest step. I took my sister to watch and after seeing all the smiling faces coming off the DZ, she is wanting to jump. I'm hoping that she'll be able to do a tandem at the end of June. My daughter has already ask for a day off so she could do it in October, after she turns 18. Do you find yourself obsessing about jumping? I would be willing to say most jumpers do. I know I work outside and on a beautiful day, I stare at the sky wishing I was up there instead of on the ground. When I see scattered clouds I think how pretty they would be from above. Welcome to the forum. I think we have the TV to thank for a lot of the worries of skydiving. If you watch Real TV there is always someone spinning out of control or has a malfunction. The media says they were within seconds of sure death if they didn’t react quickly. Which in prospective, it is true. We could use that analogy every time we come to a stop light. He was just seconds away from crashing, but then he applied his brakes and came to a safe stop. The media loves to over dramatize things. Is there risk, of course and you be a fool to say there is none. Can you be safe and lessen the risk, of course. Welcome to the sport and enjoy life. *****Why would anyone jump from a perfectly good airplane? Because it isn't much fun if it's broke.**** -

Hello to all, great to be here.NERVES OR FEAR
SlyFox replied to markymarc's topic in Introductions and Greets
Welcome to the world or addiction of skydiving. I did my first sports jump on my 40th birthday. I did my first jump from a plane in the military, my first jump wasn't scared or nervous. I think it was from wanting to do it for so long. Now I would say it is a little different now, I definetly respect the risk. I can't think of another sport that is as exciting and enjoyable. Great sport and great people. Good luck and have fun. *****Why would anyone jump from a perfectly good airplane? Because it isn't much fun if it's broke.**** -
I'm with you on paying for the first jump, after that they're on their own. I got my brother hooked that way and in 6 months my daughter will get a taste of it too. I can't wait to share my addiction. *****Why would anyone jump from a perfectly good airplane? Because it isn't much fun if it's broke.****

Welcome to the forum. Did you get the your tandem in on Sunday. I know the weather was nice. I was out at Archway on Friday playing. Maybe we'll see each other out there, it is a great place to jump and a friendly atmosphere. *****Why would anyone jump from a perfectly good airplane? Because it isn't much fun if it's broke.****

I don't know if it has anything to do with it, but it seems the ones I see doing flat packs are packing F111 and hybrids. Does anyone know if that makes a difference? *****Why would anyone jump from a perfectly good airplane? Because it isn't much fun if it's broke.****

Good point. If you bring in a bunch at a time they will probably not sort through them and give a ball park figure which will be on the low side very low side. Of course you always be better at selling it directly to a collector, that is when doing your own research pays off, and it could well worth it to you. YOu can compared the difference of selling a car to a car dealer and you selling it on your own. Good Luck *****Why would anyone jump from a perfectly good airplane? You should be able to find a local coin and stamp shop. They can even give you some idea on the value of them as well as the suggestion of books that they sell. Most foreign coins sell pretty cheap. Usually in a coin shop they will basically have a box of them and you can purchase a few for a buck. Some stamps can worth some money once again they should be able to help you. *****Why would anyone jump from a perfectly good airplane? Because it isn't much fun if it's broke.****

Sorry about getting rained out. Becareful in Haiti. I spent 6 months down there during the last big mess, 94-95. I was in Limbe the first time and Belladere the second trip. It will be an experience that you can't imagen. *****Why would anyone jump from a perfectly good airplane? Because it isn't much fun if it's broke.****
