I'm in the same boat as newbie and am wondering, if I don't get a freefly suit for a while what's the best thing to wear on your lower body? It seems like most pants would inflate at the bottom when sitflying.

High: Packing my new gear in the sunset and thinking "Life is good."

This one definantly isn't loose either. It's also no fun to get into the bag. I bought it all together, used. There's a slight wrinkle on the sides from the bulge, but it's not too bad.

I bought my first rig last night! I'll go ahead and say it, BEER! Wings W-11, Sabre 170, Tempo 150, cypres.

jumping with tandems question
spidermonky replied to misterhand's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
That's why I put it in quotations. I can be done relatively safely, or I don't think we would be doing it. We plan for safe jumps and when it goes as planned it is "safe." My point is you don't want to be lurking a tandem when things don't go as planned. -
jumping with tandems question
spidermonky replied to misterhand's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
Any skydive is "safe" when it goes as planned. The reason lurking scares alot of people is it complicates the skydive. If something did go wrong (say, exiting too close to the tandem) you would be endagering several lives. I hope to lurk one day with friends and family, but not without lots of planning and practice. -
VERY cool!! What did you use to edit it?

I REALLY like the new one that says "The sky is not the limit, the ground is" The pic that goes with it is great

That last landing has a serious pucker factor. All those skyvan videos are really good! Edit to Add: I'M AN ENTHUSIAST NOW!

I'm not really new to drinking, but the only beer I've had is Corona, and I've just stuck with it.

I turned 21 this weekend and could use some suggestions. What's your favorite beer and/or wine?
-
I thought this was pretty funny

I had the exact same dream over and over. I would run down a hill and jump until I was in the air and then fly over the city I lived in. I sometimes tell people about that and how I can fly over houses and fields every weekend now.

If you haven't seen this show, watch Comedy Central right now!

Charles Lindbergh: First Jump Story
spidermonky replied to JohnRich's topic in Skydiving History & Trivia
"This time I saved the ripcord." "The mail, however, was uninjured." Two sentences proving he was THE MAN. -
I just emailed Blas with a bunch of questions and got an autoreply that said the mailbox was full.

I know exactly what you mean. We've been going nuts here about the weather too. (Asheville, NC) Finally blue skies!!

We don'rt get nitrogen poisoning because at 1ATM Nitrogen is an inert gas, we do breathe it in every time we breath. As a chemical engineering student you should nknow that. Any SCUBA diver should also know it. Sorry, one more post to defend my integrity. And I'm sick of debating the war. I never said we do not have nitrogen in our bloodstream. My point is that if our skin is permeable than we would not have the correct gas composition in our blood (blood does not contain 79% N2). Plus these gases would bubble and THAT is what would kill you. BTW: I just heard a whuffo question! I've talked my roommate into doing a tandem and I showed him a ton of videos. He asked how people are able to jump in freefly suits and regular clothes. I asked what he meant. Turns out that he had heard somewhere that grippers stopped the material from whipping you!

OK, I'm a chemical engineering student and I have to say this breathing through your skin stuff is total BS. Here's a question, if gas molecules do permeate through skin, then why aren't we getting nitrogen poisoning since the atmosphere is 79% nitrogen? Also you need tons of capillaries that are exposed to air in order to have an exchange of O2 and CO2 (ie LUNGS).
