    First, this thread should probably be moved. I'm just a newbie in this sport but I have a few thoughts. We have helmet laws for motorcycles, why not make helmets mandatory for ALL skydivers? People often die from high performance canopies, why not make a law against sub-100 sq ft. canopies? The point is each person is responsible for themselves. I wouldn't jump without an ADD, but over-regulating every aspect of the sport isn't necessarily the answer.

    I just ran across a small airport about a mile from my apartment that flies alot of ultra-lights and has a small Cessna school. Just wondering, if I became buddies with someone who had a jumpable plane are there any FAA rules that would keep me from making a few jumps?? What about outside of an airport, say landing in a field?? Thanks

    No, I'm paying too much already to buy beer. I drove down to Skydive Carolinas today from the Asheville NC area. Got in 2 jumps, had fun, and decided to drive back. The speed limit was 55 as I entered some hick town and I see a sign for my turn so I start looking for the road. Out of nowhere an unmarked police car pulls me over. Apparently some time in the last 1/2 mile the speedlimit dropped to 25 mph. He got me doing 42 (which at the time I thought was way under). Didn't care I'm from out of town, didn't care I didn't have time to adjust to the new speed. $160. Of course if I want to argue it, I have to drive 1.5 hours into South Carolina for a 7am court date. It's one thing to serve and protect, it's another to sit at the worst speed trap they can find to raise revenue for a city. Doesn't this sound a little steep?? I've never even been pulled over in 6 years of driving.

    I'm the exact same way. I think this feeling has alot to do with ground rush and having something to reference. You can judge small height changes when you're on your roof and you also know you will get hurt if you fall. In skydiving you can't see details on the ground and you don't have anything to reference (except maybe clouds) so you don't have the fear of hitting something. Just my thoughts....

    Hey Tom, I've got a similar question you probably know the answer to. I've seen alot of BASE footage that is obviously illegal, is it safe for these people to be posting this stuff online? Couldn't some law enforcement use it as evidence to prosecute?

    I feel I should jump in here. Sometimes war is a necessary evil and I agree with what the US military is doing. But it IS sick to get off on the carnage of war. There is a big difference between justice and revenge. If we're only getting even then we really are just spreading hate (crap, I sound like a hippy).

    Not to change your mind, BUT I will be ordering something very close to what you've got. I think it looks better if the blue comes down to the main pin cover. Just my opinion

    WOW!! Very well put! Kinda makes me wish I wasn't an engineer and could actually write well. BTW:You're page on Parachutist was in the first issue I received. Read that thing cover to cover at least a dozen times.

    That is soo sad! I know EXACTLY how you feel about the skydiving experience. Have you talked with doctors about jumping with a leg brace?
