As I stated earlier (alot earlier), I emailed Delta through their website as soon as I read your problem. I received a phone call early Friday morning from Delta, in return for my email. This was a male (I was still half asleep, don't remember his name), who stated my email complaint was forwarded to his office, and that he would like to investigate it further. He asked for the name of the person that was flying, and his flight number. Well, being in bed, I didn't have the info right in front of me. From reading the letters here, I'm still unsure of the name, ya sign the posts "Bob", and the letter "John"? I never did see a flight number either. This guy is supposed to call back in the morning, and I'd like to have some info for him. Who knows, maybe Delta will try and set a standard for other airlines to follow? Doubtful, but possible... Well, I've gone and done it again. I've gotten into it with Snuffy aka Jimmy Smith over on the rec. After a short arguement, I managed to find some of his old posts, from back when he added to the signal, not the noise like nowdays. I couldn't help but think, the rec. would be a lot nicer, more enjoyable read if the old Snuffy were to come back, and kick out the new one. My point is to take what others say with a grain of salt, and seek professional advice, which you did. Lack of focus is not always ADHD. The words of the school Psych after doing tests: She's 6. The words of our doctor after more tests: Yep, he hit Selena on the head. I only ask that people explore all avenues, get second and/or third opinions, and don't automatically accept the ADHD/medication diagnoses. For those that really do have ADD/ADHD the medication is a wonderful stabilizer. For those that do not have the disease and are misdiagnosed, the meds are actually hindering them. How funny that we were thinking the exact same thing! Another hallmark of ADHD is low self-esteem... a feeling of being a failure, of never measuring up... even though you may actually do quite well in school, work etc. And to answer your question Tiff, it's a very common misconception that ADHD is only a "child's disease". I've had it all my life but I wasn't formally diagnosed (by two psychiatrists and a psychologist) until this year. The meds used to treat ADHD in adults is the same as for kids. I take Adderall. Did you realize that there are studies out there dubunking this very thought reasoning? The school system here wanted to label my child as ADHD. They actually insisted. They made references to how she behaved in school, homework, behavior, ect. NONE of what they said was present at home. A hallmark of ADHD is it cannot be "turned off" by the person. It affects all aspects of their lives. For adults, this would include any activities. Work, home, play (skydiving?). Think about it some more before you misdiagnose yourself. I did a little research on my own, since I refuse to have my children put on mind altering drugs. Here is a good start, a good, short read. For more information, do a simple web search for "add gifted". You would be amazed at what you can find. I read somewhere that in one study, doctors believed it is possible for up to 90% of the children on medication today for ADD or ADHD are gifted, and do NOT had the disorder. Think about it. I would love that too. It's not going to happen here though. My wife supports my skydiving, and would never tell me to quit. BUT, she would also never encourage me.
