Possible Midwest DZ.com event, post if interested
RevJim replied to PhreeZone's topic in The Bonfire
There ya go people, an actual DZO that's interested in hosting a DZ.com event! Granted, this location isn't ideal for getting the Michigan/Ohio jumpers there, but hey, who says we midwesterners have to settle for just one boogie? It's your life, live it! Hello! Do you know the difference between a Big DZ Turbine Snob and a Turbine Snob? The Turbine Snob goes where the turbines go. The Big DZ Turbine Snob goes to big DZs that have turbines. That makes me a Turbine Snob, though I have no problem riding 45 minutes in a Cessna anytime. Possibly. 20 or so club members on a grass strip with a 182. Smaller? Maybe, but when it gets that small, it doesn't really matter, does it? Cute? Ha! Little DZs have been the backbone of our sport for a very long time. It's part of the culture. A part of the culture that seems to be lacking from "some" of the larger DZs. So, if you don't go to the big DZs for the planes, what do you go for? Personally, I go where I can jump, regardless of size or planes. p.s. If you re-read, you'll notice I didn't call you a Turbine Snob. I simply stated it was spoken like one! You happen to be the one who said you "couldn't say the same thing for a tiny 182 DZ in the middle of nowhere." It's the people I'm interested in meeting, jumping with, partying with, not the DZ. Spoken like a true big DZ turbine snob there, Andy. Get out! Meet your "family". Contrary to popular belief, they do not all hang at big DZs. It's your life, live it! Karma RB#684 "Corcho", ASK#60, Muff#3520, NCB#398, NHDZ#4, C-33989, DG#1 -

Ok OK! Central IL, to the SEMO area, over to central Indiana, and I'll be there! West Tenn is nice, but driving 14 hours, to compete with all the people that are there every week to ride mikes plane, um, nope. Big DZ? Not really. I'd prefer, as was suggested earlier, to find a small DZ, and bring in a turbine or 2. It's your life, live it! Karma RB#684 "Corcho", ASK#60, Muff#3520, NCB#398, NHDZ#4, C-33989, DG#1 -

Um, neither of mine (the present or the past ones) are up there. Used to be superbike racing. 600cc class, Road America, Elkhart Lake, WI. One too many dumps, realized I was gonna kill myself, sold the bike, and put more of an effort into skydiving. On those days when I can't get to the DZ, it's golf. Go ahead, snicker, I was an Assistant Superintendant for about a dozen years, and the club pro still lets me on, with cart, for free, to survey the grounds and make reccomendations. I'm not gonna be able to keep up with most here, but I'll add my 3 cents too! Wolf River Skydivers, Shiocton, WI SEMO Skydiving Club, Charleston, MO Spaceland, Rosharon, TX Skydive Illinois, Morris, IL Skydive Alabama, Cullman, AL AtmosphAIR Skydiving Center, Jefferson, WI Skydive Adventure, Omro, WI WFFC, Rantoul, IL Millennium Skydiving, Kankakee, IL Blue Sky Adventures, St. George, SC Additional places I've been but been unable to jump (mostly weather, some lack of time, some lack of jumpers); Perris Valley Skydiving, Perris, CA Skydive Chicago, Ottawa, IL Skydive Dallas, Whitewright, TX Damn, that list is longer than even I thought. Well, my goal is to triple it in the next 2 years, and then double it every 3 years thereafter, until I've hit all the DZs in the USA. Then I'll get a passport and start over in other countries. . . .

Yep, that about sums it up. When was the dot com "boom"? When was the "bust"? How did either effect the economy? Who got the credit for the boom in the economy, and who got the blame when it went tits up? Neither were controlable by a Pres, but both effect the bottom line. It's your life, live it! Simple answer: It's a choice. Not so simple answer: If it were genetic, there would be no homosexuals. Lack of breeding would have made them extinct a long time ago. Complicated answer: Read the not so simple answer, think about it, and try to defend against it. You can't. It's your life, live it! Doesn't sound very promising. I forgot to mention the details of this one. You'll love it. Oct 2002, Milwaukee to Atlanta on Delta. I was forced to check my rig, so i stuffed it inside my bag. The kicker? I don't have an AAD. No CYPRES, no Astra, nada. Still couldn't carry it on. Return flight, Atlanta to Milwaukee, Midwest Express. Rig went through Xray, and the checker said "Going skydiving?". I said, nope, that's what I was down here for. Now I'm going home." "Have a nice flight, sir!" Walked right on, no problems, and I don't use a gear bag either. Rig was in plain sight. It's your life, live it! Karma RB#684 "Corcho", ASK#60, Muff#3520, NCB#398, NHDZ#4, C-33989, DG#1

Finally, Got the call from Delta. Name and flight number are back in the system again, and I mentioned the (to me) impersonal letters from Heather Futch. This guy sounded pissed at her, but that could be just another Delta "front". He stated he's going to dig deeper into this, and contact Bob directly. Keep us informed Bob. My flight plans in the future hinge on what they do. If it isn't resolved fairly, my flight to Atlanta back in Oct (where they REQUIRED me to check my rig), will be my last fight on Delta, ever. Nope, not I. If you love your loved ones, they know it. If you need to say it if you know you are going to die, you need to say it right now, and repeat it every day, since one of those days, you will die. Once again, there should not be a reason here. Why wait until you know you are going to die to do all the things you want to? If you have to wait, what's the point in living? Ahhh, I see now, you posed the question for everyone else, yet seem to share my beliefs exactly! Welcome to my world! Blues! It's your life, live it! I did the weight thing. With experience comes control. I used the weight as a crutch, and as soon as I realized how easy it was to speed up, I pulled the weight, and had no problem staying with some pretty fast fallers. Weight is good for some, but not everybody. I was using between 6 and 10 pounds, depending on what I was doing. Since then, I have not used the weights, and (ugh) have even managed to go low a few times. Knowing what I used to fly like helped there too though, as I can pop back up pretty quickly!
