I'm thinking that the stipulation would be to launch the wingsuit from any craft or object where the height is great enough for the human body to reach terminal velocity if the suit was not used. This way, some objects can be used, and some other objects will be off limits. Sure, some of the lower ones mean less speed, but we need horizontal speed to trade for lift. I am right now of the opinion that Phree does know everything. Every time I've had a question, he's had the answer for me, as recently as last weekend, when everyone at the dz seemed to lose thier memory at the same time and couldn't remember which loops to skip when hooking up a Bird Man GTI to a rig. I admit I tried calling the Monkey1 first, but only had the DZ number in my cell, not his mobile number and he had left. Next call was Eric, and the rig was hooked up immediatly after that. This goes back to the small demonstration in metal shop say, oh, 18 years ago, involving acetylene and oxygen. Fill a balloon with pure oxygen and hit it with a torch (we did). It pops. Fill a balloon with pure acetylene and hit it with a torch (we did). It pops with a little flame and a great deal of soot. Mix oxygen and acetylene about 50%-50% and put a very small amount in a balloon (this was smaller than my fist) and hit it with a torch after making sure you are protected behind some kind of blast wall. We did. The resulting explosion shook the entire vocational education building, and rattled windows on the far side of the main school. It left no trace though, and was gone immediately due to the lack of additional fuel. If those fuel vapors were concentrated right, that mechanic is lucky to be alive and relatively uninjured.
