  1. So you prefer places where you don't have to be respectful to others? I don't think its really disrespectful to have adult conversations around adults. Now, if you want to go some place and start pointing fingers at some little kid saying, "you're a little f***," well then yea, I think that would obviously be out of line and disrespectful. The DZ for me, especially at night, is an adult play ground. A lot of people who bring their kids there abuse it anyway and just use it as a babysitting service. Those kids especially, I am not going to curve my adult conversations for. Tandem customers and their kids they have in toe to watch them do their jump on the other hand, yes, I will go out of my way to make sure that is as nice an experience as possible, and if that means not being as loosed lipped as I would be amongst regular skydiving friends, then thats fine with me. I do that out of respect not only for the customer, but the dropzone... the tandems are a huge chunk of their livelyhood and its just one more thing I can do to make sure that customer is happy and may even come back to spend more money to keep the dropzone open for us fun jumpers to use. Not every customer is going to care what adult things are going on around them on the dz, but just in case for those few that do end up caring. 2. Nor are the anti-war folks. I don't think that when they said they wanted to withdraw troops from Iraq (right on schedule with the Bush timetable) that they meant they'd like them redeployed to Afghanistan. I think that was predictable. One of the talking points of the Democratic Party has been that the Iraq war has distracted us from the Afghan war. Afghanistan is seen as a more just war by many on the left and I think it's clear to many that we didn't have enough troops there to really gain traction against the Taliban after initially knocking them out of power. It was very predictable, and expected by his voters since he talked about it during the election. I am anti-war, but I am also all for going and kicking some ass with the people who actually were involved in 9/11, and not with the people who were not directly responsible (Iraq). Apologies for the spelling (and grammar).... I got a B.S, not a B.A. :)
  3. I am really kicking myself in the ass for not being able to make this one now. Had a change of plans and couldn't get the time off work, so now I'll be in town July 10-15 instead. Oh, well... no matter what its still good to get back to my home stompin' grounds. Everybody have a fun and safe 4th of July up there!! Apologies for the spelling (and grammar).... I got a B.S, not a B.A. :)
  4. Is this true for every manufacturer? My hip rings on my wings vision come about 1.5 inches up from my hip (and I was measured by Ankie (sp?) right in the shop), and I posted something on here a long time back and a few people said that thats the way wings are supposed to fit. As I chimed in on an earlier post... my rig feels really boxy over my shoulders. It doesn't flow, and after just three jumps in the course of a day my back/shoulders are killing me and I am sore the next day. I have pictures I can attach, but I also don't want to hijack this thread. Thanks! Apologies for the spelling (and grammar).... I got a B.S, not a B.A. :)

    Freefly suit

Which is why I would not buy one. It's such a trendy thing right now, it's almost comical. I don't get it. It's a high quality, great looking suit. The company has fantastic service. Lots of people like these traits in a suit/company so they buy the suit (trendy). Because of all these good traits, you *don't* want one? +1 here!!! I don't get it either... there is a reason WHY all these people want the suit. Let me tell you, I ordered a suit from another company earlier this winter because it was going to save me a little money in comparison to the LS suit, and maybe a little part of me got on the "I don't want to be trendy" wagon. BUT, guess what, I got what I paid for, and after the first suit and a remake of the suit didn't fit, I sent it back for good and ordered a LS suit. I flew it for the first time the other day, and it is the MOST COMFORTABLE thing ever. Bottom line is... if you don't see a lot of one suit around, sure, it may be cooler since it's not as 'trendy,' but there's probably a reason why a lot of people aren't flying them. Personally, I'm not going to spend 600 bucks for a suit only because everybody else has it or its cool.... that thing better fly well, be comfortable, and worth every penny. (and my LS suit is!
  6. same here, but I'm off at 530am CDT (1030 Z) I can't wait to get home and sleep! g'morning to everybody else though! happy coffee drinking!
  7. Exactly my point! (Thanks and well said, Bill! I couldn't put those words together like that exactly to make my other post understood.) Apologies for the spelling (and grammar).... I got a B.S, not a B.A. :)
  8. I never said Ensign did anything in particular, but rather his party he is affiliated with is infamous for doing such. I'm not saying Dems don't take a stand on fidelity because they're afraid they'll get caught later. I'm saying they don't take a stand on it because they're not self rightouse and keep their personal lives, well, I dunno... personal. Apologies for the spelling (and grammar).... I got a B.S, not a B.A. :)
  9. OMG! You're a lifesaver!!! Thanks a bunch!!!!! Apologies for the spelling (and grammar).... I got a B.S, not a B.A. :)

    Pilots

B.S in Aviation Meteorology, Florida Institute of Technology (1 year flight, 3 years non-flight due to money) Currently doing my masters in Aeronautical Science, Embry Riddle. HOPEFULLY, I can resume flying and finish up my private/instrument as soon as this degree is done and paid for! (I wish flying and skydiving were cheaper! ) Apologies for the spelling (and grammar).... I got a B.S, not a B.A. :)
  12. I have looked at some of the products on this site before, but I have been reserved about purchasing because I actually want to see them on my face, try them on, hold them in my hand, and I can't. I HATE my contacts, and only wear them to skydive. I love my mini flex z goggles and the complete seal they have around my eyes, but putting the contacts in sucks. So, I think I might invest in these: http://www.sportrx.com/order.asp?product_id=WX082 Does anybody have any experience with this model? I'm really looking for the tight seal around my face. I don't want wind to get underneath the glasses and blow them off. (I don't trust the strap completely). I too want to order one in clear and in grey. I think I just need to bite the bullet and finally get a pair-- would pay for itself in the long run without having to buy contacts just for jumping. Apologies for the spelling (and grammar).... I got a B.S, not a B.A. :)
  13. He (Ensign) doesn't HAVE to do anything, and nor do the dems, and so they haven't. And it's besides the point that he's following the marriage style of Mr. Clinton, Mr. Edwards, etc. He's not saying that Clinton, Edwards, and Jackson were anymore right or wrong than Ensign, but the point is that Clinton, Edwards, etc didn't preach to the country about 'wholesome conservative values,' or bash gays, or point fingers and call anybody sinners, and then turn around and commit the acts in question. He's talking about hypocrites, not lawbreakers that must resign. (though clinton did purger himself, IMO, and is then a lawbreaker, but thats a whole other conversation to be had in a different thread.) If you base your platform on good moral values, and then demoralize those values, then I think you're a fraud and maybe should resign. If you haven't sold yourself to the people and got voted in on those conservative preachings, then what exactly have you done wrong to resign in your professional life? Most dems in the same boat with an affair haven't violated any promises to the public or their voters, unlike a lot of conservative repubs who basically make promises to their voters when they portray and sell themselves as wholesome conservative christians who would never do such a think like an affair, and then they do. Don't sell yourself on a box so high and mighty, and then when the shit hits the fan you've got nobody to answer to but your own wife and family. Apologies for the spelling (and grammar).... I got a B.S, not a B.A. :)
  14. If people support it, they're not going to uprise against the media outlets covering it. Obviously enough people don't have a problem with it and want to tune in, let alone rage out against it. If people didn't want to hear it and didn't tune in, then these networks would not be stupid enough to drain themselves down the pipes airing something people don't want to see. If it brings strong ratings, then what is the matter with bringing the people what they want to see and tune in to? In the past 24 years there might not have been a president that caused a movement as strong and had enough support as this guy has to devote a segment to them. The people, or at least a large enough part of the population that watches these networks or TV in general, like him, so the networks are airing what people want to see and getting exactly what you said out of it-- a ratings boost. It's business, pure and simple. How can you fault them for that? If America has that big a problem with it, then don't watch, and the networks probably won't air something like that again, no matter what political affiliation or agenda they have. It all comes down to business in the end. Apologies for the spelling (and grammar).... I got a B.S, not a B.A. :)
  15. My wings has the same exact problem. The first time I put it on it felt really boxy and right angled instead of flowing around my shoulders. even in a boxman position the back of the rig doesn't sit right and comes up and pops me in the back of the head. It sucks, and I didn't feel like dealing with it, so I've just gotten used to it now hoping that it some day will break in. You can see in the attached pic that it's kinda funny looking and not as smooth as some other rigs. Apologies for the spelling (and grammar).... I got a B.S, not a B.A. :)
  16. +1 for me. Most women who tell you they don't watch it or get turned on by it are liars. Apologies for the spelling (and grammar).... I got a B.S, not a B.A. :)
  17. +1... I absolutely HATE it here. I hated it here before I even moved here. I dream about the day when I can move back up north or back to FL. Apologies for the spelling (and grammar).... I got a B.S, not a B.A. :)
  18. SO....how many girls in your class? I went to a big university. We have 6 out of 100 students. 1 was a friend / study buddy 2 were dating each other 3 were women by DNA but couldn't tell by shape or looks. And it didn't get better when I graduated. In my facility we say "If here eye brows aren't connected and she isn't wearing sweat pants to work....she's hot!" we have a little more than that. half are actually pretty damn hot. i wouldn't date an engineer though. i'm dating a nurse right now. (student nurse that is) Oh yeah 3 of the 6 were HOT! But two wer dating soo..... And yes, I know I'll start a poop storm, but I agree. Engineering girls are difficult to date. I went to an engineering and aeronautical university. A huge group of geeks, I'll tell ya, but the women there that I knew who were engineers definitely were not 'angry' and had no problems dating. I think that guys look for excuses as to why they can't get a female who is an engineer to go on a date; they rationalize it by saying things like "they're difficult," or, "angry." I think maybe its just that these women are smart enough to know who they want to deal with and who is way under their league. You might call that "picky," but I call that smart! S-M-R-T!! Apologies for the spelling (and grammar).... I got a B.S, not a B.A. :)
  19. **BUMP** Ok... so I don't even have my suit yet, but Julio just sent me pictures and I wanted to give a huge shout out to Liquid Sky. I've worked with a couple different suit companies in the past, and I've never received the kick ass customer service like I got from Julio and LS. He called me and worked with me every step of the way for every little detail. I can't wait to fly this thing! I'll post more pictures when it finally comes in, but here are the shots taken from Julio's iPhone!! Apologies for the spelling (and grammar).... I got a B.S, not a B.A. :)

    Tony Space Suit

Same here... too long in the chest though, but the worst part was the arm restriction. I couldn't bend my arm all the way in the suit (like when you are carrying your canopy back from the landing area slung over your shoulder). It pinched my skin and caused bruises there. The remake they measured me for was even smaller and I could barely get my arms in the suit. It was unusable at that point. It def. looked durable. If you can get the fit right on it, it's probably not a bad suit to have, especially since they run a couple hundred less than some competitors. But word of caution that I just learned through my suit process-- you get what you pay for. Apologies for the spelling (and grammar).... I got a B.S, not a B.A. :)

    Tony Space Suit

Usually I don't throw this out here in public forum because I like Tony, he's a good guy, but I will call my ditto on this situation. I ordered a female space suit, and it too came back ill fitting as well as with the use of a wrong color I choose. I was taking a trip to FL, so I stopped in the shop to get re-measured and get the remake done on it, and that one came back even worse-- I couldn't even get my arms in the suit. Unfortunately I cut my losses at that point too, and my new Liquid Sky suit will be in sometime this week. Nothing against Tony and the people he works with-- all very nice people, but it's just business. If you are looking for a suit, I will give a HUGE shout out to liquid sky. I don't even have my suit yet, and I will back them up just from their AMAZING customer service. I've never seen somebody with a bad looking suit from them, and tons of people have them. Like you said with the space suits, you don't see many people with them, so there's probably a reason why. Lots of people are rocking LS since they came out, and they've got the reputation to back it up. Julio has called me numerous times and personally worked on the suit and talked with me over the phone about the littlest of details. You can really see his passion in the suits he puts out, and I'm really sorry that I just didn't bite the bullet and put the money out for a suit from them to begin with. Just my .02. Good luck finding a suit! Apologies for the spelling (and grammar).... I got a B.S, not a B.A. :)
  22. DING DING DING DING!!! I think we have winning explanation. People need to stop getting their panties in a bunch. The people who could afford it to begin with with the system in place now, will have all the same luxuries with the new system. What a great concept, but then what would all those rich, white, republican insurance company CEO's do with themselves? Apologies for the spelling (and grammar).... I got a B.S, not a B.A. :)
  23. Yea, tell him that everybody who goes in there barefoot gets plantars warts and they hurts and have to be surgically removed! Ouch! FSU for the girlfriend?? Ok, he's all set then! Apologies for the spelling (and grammar).... I got a B.S, not a B.A. :)
  24. OMG, REALLY????!!!! Holy crap... I almost went to a religious school because I got a full soccer scholarship up at seton hill in PA, and I am SO glad I didn't. The whole male/female mingling, partying, drinking... its all part of the gig and really has given me so many memories from college. I went to a geek school (if anybody is familiar with FL Tech... a bunch of engineering and science geeks), but we knew how to study AND have a good time. I'm really glad if he likes that and really loves that school, but man... that seems so odd at a non-religiously affiliated school. (AND a school near the beach in FL! All we did at FIT was surf, drink, smoke, get sun tanned on the beach, and study our asses off.) Apologies for the spelling (and grammar).... I got a B.S, not a B.A. :)
  25. Is he going to be on a meal plan? Most schools make you for your first year on campus... I know Florida Tech did for my first year on campus there, and second year I moved into the campus apartments and it was optional. I had a microfridge and a microwave in my room, so basically I needed food items that were easily cooked for late night snacks in the microwave-- stock up on LOTS of easy mac, ramen, etc. Get those cheap plastic cup/bowl/plate sets that walmart offers. Grab a box of plastic cutlery, and some dish soap. We washed our dishes in the bathrooms, but all the stuff def. came in handy at 3am when none of the eateries were open. Other than that, you'll need XL twin bed sheet, XL twin mattress pad/topper, XL twin comforter. Towels, and shower stuff. Pick up a shower caddy that he can just keep all his stuff in to take back and forth to the showers, and the most important part of the shower ensemble is a pair of shower flip flops. You don't even want to know what bacteria and fluids are on the floor of those showers.. eeewww. Then all the usual stuff-- clothes, etc. He'll probably have a wardrobe and a few drawers to keep stuff in. I invested in plastic tubs to keep my stuff in under those tall dorm beds that are made to fit stuff under. If he doesnt' have a laptop, its a good idea to get one. I worked in the computer lab for my four years for my work study job, but still needed my laptop after hours and helped me with n otes and everything during class. (and easy to take to study groups and around town) I know you're local to where matt and I were (but now we live in TX ), but is he going to school in FL or is he leaving the state? Apologies for the spelling (and grammar).... I got a B.S, not a B.A. :)
