Where is the vote for "every now and then?" I used to wear it because underwear can be so fun and I am addicted to Victorias Secret, but I was actually told by a doc that it's actually good for chicks to kinda air out and go commando as long as the pants are clean. So... yea. Apologies for the spelling (and grammar).... I got a B.S, not a B.A. :)

Houston Center, right? I hope you get the job. I wish you'd come work at Seattle Center so I'd have another jumper to talk to on break. I wish!! Seattle is gorgeous, and it would be nice to have another jumper to talk to at work! Apologies for the spelling (and grammar).... I got a B.S, not a B.A. :)

Bad credit risks often make bad security risks and bad insurance risks. My last security clearance review included, among other things, a credit check. Although there are exceptional circumstances for many people, most bad credit scores are the result of bad judgment, at least for the people I know. Who would you want working for your company? Edited to say that I think it's wrong that they can ask for your credit rating. It's a job, not a loan application. What's next, your medical records? Who wants to hire a sick person, eh? Wow... I really did not think about any of this and I am in the process of going through interview to get a new job as a forecaster at an ARTCC. So, it's NOAA/NWS which is government and they'll do a credit check. I have some bad things on my credit report from 5 or so years ago when I was a stupid freshmen in college and had no concept of what would happen when you didn't pay your credit card. Everything since then is marked as on time, so hopefully all of that won't mess this up for me because this job is really right up my alley. Apologies for the spelling (and grammar).... I got a B.S, not a B.A. :)

correct fitting of a rig around the shoulders?
LyraM45 replied to Jow210's topic in Gear and Rigging
OK... another bump and update!! I sent my rig back to have the laterals taken in and the MLW extended a little bit and it has made a HUGE difference. Just 1/2" an inch will take all the pressure of the rig pulling down on my shoulders/back. So again, if you haven't gotten your stuff looked at, then have somebody take a look because it will save you a lot of physical pain. Who wants to hurt when they're skydiving all day? PS-- HUGE thank you to Scarlett and everybody at Wings. The customer service was spot on and the adjustments were absolutely perfect! -

school children in new jersey singing about obama
LyraM45 replied to TrophyHusband's topic in Speakers Corner
Yes, they have. For example, “Classroom classics” include songs in praise of Pres Lincoln, President Washington, Rev Martin Luther King Jr, Christopher Columbus, and two praising the US military ("MILITARY MEDLEY(Air Force, Army, Navy, Coast Guard, Marines)" and "THANK YOU MILITARY"). There's also "FIGHTING FEAR WITH FRIENDSHIP" "(A request made by Pres. George W. Bush to America's children) "Words- Sam Francis Music- Merrill Jenson Children of America There's a way to conquer fear. It's time that we all get along So hate will disappear. There's one thing that we can do And we should start today. We'll fight fear with friendship There is no better way. CHORUS Fighting fear with friendship It is our Nation's call Our President has asked the ‘kids' To be a friend to all! Fighting fear with friendship There's letters we can send. Tell the ‘kids' throughout the world We want to be their friend! Children of America We love our liberty. We wish that kids throughout the world Also could be free. If only they could feel our hearts They would know how much we care. We all want peace on earth for children everywhere! CHORUS (Bridge) Regardless of our color or nationality, We should respect our differences And friends we all should be. CHORUS (Tag) Let's tell the kids throughout the world We want to be your friend. I wonder what would be the reaction if President Obama had made that request to America's school children? /Marg This is exactly right. School children have been singing about their leaders for ages. The tid bit that is not included in this story is that they sang MANY other songs that day about all types of black leaders since it was done during February which is black history month. The stories on Faux and some right wing news sites are leaving that fact out to make it look like they were just singing about President Obama for no apparent reason (except maybe the democratic, indoctrinating, socialist teacher's agenda-- oh my! ) I get the feeling that the words that were in the OP's post have been morphed since I have seen a few versions of it published. The fact that it includes "huusein" and almost emphasizes it seems a little off to me for somebody who was wanting to have this song sung in support of President Obama, and a few other lines stick out to me as being obvious that it's been added to stir the pot. I am not sure now since, like I said, I've seen quite a few versions of this posted in different places, but it would be nice to see the original song and also the other songs in support of black leaders that were sung that day. +1, and you can also avoid having to answer the same wuffo questions over and over and over and over again. I usually don't mention it if I don't have to, let alone have pictures up to invite the questions. But thats just me. Apologies for the spelling (and grammar).... I got a B.S, not a B.A. :)

Are you serious?? You don't know much about aviation law and how much it does regulate things outside of skydiving aircraft ops. Go read a FAR/AIM.... seriously. Outside of that, the rest of this stuff is pretty funny no matter what side of the isle/issue you stand on.

In that case I guess we can disband all branches of the military, all police and all fire departments, all public health departments, and just look out for ourselves. Exactly what I was just about to say. Apologies for the spelling (and grammar).... I got a B.S, not a B.A. :)

I didn't know that "not giving the finger to anybody while driving," and "not flushing after peeing," was a left or right ideaology. I think that it's just wrong to talk about to first graders period, but not wrong in a sense that it is purely a "Leftist" or "Rightist" issue. I am almost having a hard time believing that this was shown to first graders. No matter who the video was done by-- left, right, purple, black, green, woman, man, referencing giving somebody the finger is not something that a first grader is going to understand and not something you want them asking questions about at that point. It's so riduculous sounding that it almost sounds like its from the Onion. I just did a quick search to find the original article of this, and it looks like the principal choose this video because it was going to talk about service and things like pledging to be good to one another, elderly, foodbanks, etc, but he did not preview it before he showed it and just assumed it was going to be appropriate for the assembly. Sadly, it was not, and sounds like it had a more adult comedic spin on it because I don't think anybody can say, "pledge to not give the finger to anybody while driving," is something that can be taken seriously. Or perhaps he means the "truth" about the blatantly false full-page ad Fox ran against its competitors a couple days ago. http://www.google.com/#hl=en&source=hp&q=fox+news+ad+false&aq=f&aqi=&oq=&fp=2084f45e26dfc089 I am surprised nobody has brought that up in SC yet. There is a youtube video that I can't link to from work right now of Rick Sanchez really calling Fox out on the ad saying that CNN and all of the other mentioned networks in the ad did indeed cover the story, but they only covered it-- NOT promoted it. Actually, they covered the tea party story MORE than they covered the Iraq anti-war protests which technically should have been the CNN equivalent mall march to Fox with the tea party mall march, so that right there shows a more "fair and balanced" attitude regarding the story coverage. I am not saying that CNN doesn't lean a little more liberal on their stuff and spin a few things, but Fox definitely is a bigger offender. So, at this point I don't think any of the news networks have the complete "truth" and it's up to me to watch everything that I can, read everything that I can, and be best informed from a step outside and see the big picture kind of way if I can. Apologies for the spelling (and grammar).... I got a B.S, not a B.A. :)

BINGO!!!!! No matter what this guy does, Fox viewers made up their mind already before he even opens his mouth now. Those people are a lost cause, and after some of the things Fox distorts about him, I wouldn't give them the time of day either. The people he needs to reach out to are independents, like myself, and we tend to be channel flippers but do NOT watch Fox. (at least from my experience and from friends that are Independents.) Fayard put 34 peeps per load on our 3300' runway. It's a shame I am about to leave work for my four day break, but if I were on shift for another hour I would run a runway analysis using Casa specs at this airport for max occupancy .... just for shits and giggles to see the numbers, but I am pretty sure 3000+ feet of pavement at max fuel / payload is more than enough space for that aircraft to operate. If you are in the Houston area then Skydive Houston is seriously the place to be. That dropzone will treat you like family all through your student status and forever after. I've jumped a lot of different places and after I moved to TX it took me a few dropzones to find a place that was comfy, safe, and offers a warm welcoming vibe for students AND fun jumpers, and Skydive Houston ended up being my home. The instructors up there will take care of you if you're looking to do your AFF. It sounds like you're more in the area NW of Houston if you're looking at Temple and SDM, so if you are shopping around SDH is just down 290 a bit for ya! Look them up! HTH! Wrong, because individuals will be less and less likely to even have the choice. Competition is great, but you are mistaken if you believe Obama's lies that the govt plan will be competing fairly in the market to keep the private insurance companies honest. It has been proposed that employers would be charged 7 or 8 percent of salary to put a worker on the govt option plan. Employers that provide a good health insurance plan pay much more than that. So, employers have a strong economic incentive to go with the govt plan as a cost saving. Do you think the savings to a company will be passed on to the employee? Of course the true cost of the govt providing that plan will be more than what the employer will be paying the govt. I understand that some employers only pretend to offer health insurance, when what they really offer is the ability of the employee to buy it through the employer at full/near full cost - those employees will see the govt plan as a big improvement. OR the private insurance co's can bring their prices down to competitive rates. They will not go hungry, they will not go starving... they will finally just start charging FAIR prices. Maybe their CEO's will have to take a cut on their bajillion dollar bonuses-- Oh my! What will they do with themselves?? That's the whole point behind making this competition result in a better market with fairer prices for the consumers. I know there is a lot more that goes into all of that, like how we can get into the whole mal practice thing and what the doctors feel they HAVE to charge these companies for their services, but the insurance companies are one of the main reasons they're prices are that high because they know they can get it from them. Yea, +1 on everything Simon said. The only experience I have with bigger suites is when I worked at the tunnel and tried some of them out. Great for the lift, but like Simon said you'll be thrown around and you have to actually fight the suit. I would suggest it to go out and have fun with like the examples with Simon's novelty jumps, but I wouldn't seriously consider it to wear on every single freefly or belly jump at all. I have been to Tony's shop and seen a few vintage suits there. Get in touch with him. :) Apologies for the spelling (and grammar).... I got a B.S, not a B.A. :)

Actually, I thought CNN was all over it when I had it on while I was cooking dinner yesterday. I think it was a huge chunk of what Lou Dobbs talked about for the hour-- and he definitely wasn't happy about ACORN! If what is happening is true, then it sounds like a lot of dirty business to me. Hopefully they reap what they sow.... definitely some shady business. Apologies for the spelling (and grammar).... I got a B.S, not a B.A. :)

Talk to SimonBones on here... he is wearing that huge old school suit in the center fold in September's Parachutist. It will effect your flight big time, not to metion it will make flying pretty difficult if you have a lot of suit to fight and you're an inexperienced flyer. It will slow you down a LOT. I am the other flyer in the picture with Simon, and my split head up position that I am in has a fall rate of around 125-130 (I'm really floaty in that freefly suit) and Simon was able to match that fall rate head down in that suit while the photographer (The111) was taking the shots on his belly! So, yea... imagine how slow that suit makes you! You can check out other pictures from that jump to see him head down matching me in that suit... he did some wicked flying, and the suit looks cool....a blast from the past! http://www.matthoover.com/gallery/skydiving-photos/2009-07/ Apologies for the spelling (and grammar).... I got mine about 3 or 4 days after everybody was already calling/emailing me saying I was in the centerfold. Definitely was the longest 3 or 4 days of my life waiting to see that one after everybody else had theirs and was telling me about that shot! I thought maybe since I am in Houston that people in TX got theirs later depending on our distance from where it is shipped, but the first people to tell me about it were in Denver.

I'll say this again though I already said it in another thread somewhere-- Most of the Dem's that got the title "Anti-war" were in fact not anti-war.... they were just anti-war without a cause. Now that we're fighting in Afghanistan we have a cause, which should have been our cause during the Bush administration, to get Bin Laden and the guys who caused 9/11. Apologies for the spelling (and grammar).... I got a B.S, not a B.A. :)

I don't want to look at this and turn it into a who blames who discussion on the economy. The point for me is that this is a group of people complaining about spending. I don't care if they are black, white, purple, orange, republican, domocrat, independent, whatever. The fact remains that these people, who are supposed to be unbiased and only demonstrating because they don't like government spending look awfully biased when all of the sudden a government that has had a huge spending problem for the past 4 if not the whole 8 years now has what they consider a 'spending problem' when they didn't make a peep over the spending for the past 8 years. It just discredits the base behind their whole argument and makes it a little hard for me to view them outside of the group of people that are just disgruntled over Obama no matter what he does. This article is ridden with a lot of opinion, but this is the situation that sticks out to me even before I read this article. Apologies for the spelling (and grammar).... I got a B.S, not a B.A. :)

BREAKING NEWS: Reasonable people do NOT respect Obama
LyraM45 replied to SkyChimp's topic in Speakers Corner
Yeah, because I am so sure that Obama cares about what Bin Laden thinks about him. You know what? It proably even keeps him up at night, and here I thought he was up at night worrying about our economy and stuff. Silly me! Apologies for the spelling (and grammar).... I got a B.S, not a B.A. :)
