  1. ...while being secretly gay and sucking dicks in airport toilet stalls. YOU GOT IT!!!!!! Apologies for the spelling (and grammar).... I got a B.S, not a B.A. :)
  2. You're just not talking to the right weather person. Apologies for the spelling (and grammar).... I got a B.S, not a B.A. :)
  3. I can think of a bajillion things to shoot right back at conservatives in the same fashion. For example off the top of my head: If a liberal doesn't agree with marrying somebody of the same sex then they will just quietly marry a person of the opposite sex and mind their own business. A conservative doesn't agree with same sex marriage, he preaches at the top of his lungs and outlaws it. Apologies for the spelling (and grammar).... I got a B.S, not a B.A. :)
  4. 2008 Honda Fit (blakberry pearl). I frickin love that thing still like the first day I got it. My first brand spankin new car in my life. Drove the biggest peice of shit box elantra before that all through college and it was falling apart bad. I love it, but I will admit that my first choice was a mini cooper convertable if it was more in my price range. Apologies for the spelling (and grammar).... I got a B.S, not a B.A. :)
  5. I am private sector Aviation Meteorologist / department supervisor at the moment, but I just accepted a new job recently out at the Oakland ARTCC as a National Weather Service Meteorologist at that facility. Should be interesting to forecast for all the flights coming into San Fran with the fog and all-- god help me!! Starting sometime in early December. Can not wait to get the hell out of Houston!!!!!!! Apologies for the spelling (and grammar).... I got a B.S, not a B.A. :)
  6. Because I don't agree with you you consider that f-ing lame?? That's awesome. We have no need to carry this conversation any further then since one can not have a conversation with somebody who has that stance on things. Good luck to you and all of your future posts! PS-- what am I supposed to stay home from? That has me a little confused, as does your whole schpeel and avatar change. ::walking away from this unproductive part of the thread:: Apologies for the spelling (and grammar).... I got a B.S, not a B.A. :)
  7. aaahhhhh... ah ha! Gotchya. I'll just leave that be then. Apologies for the spelling (and grammar).... I got a B.S, not a B.A. :)
  8. I see people fight all the time on here over certain issues, especially in SC-- but rare that I see somebody brand spankin new come on and do a tit for tat borderline PA on a resident dz.com'er. (and he and I definitely don't get along on every issue, so it's not like I'm sticking up for him as a best friend that I jump with everyday or something.) You're not breaking any laws I guess, but in my opinion it just takes balls as big as church bells and not a good start to your dz.com'ing. And the avatar thing is just weird. I dunno... just my opinion, and you know what those are like. Apologies for the spelling (and grammar).... I got a B.S, not a B.A. :)
  9. Hold on a sec here. Let me get this straight.... You're new here, you're a new jumper, and you're picking a flight with Spence and stealing his avatar? Is anybody else laughing at this or is it just me? Or is my computer having a glitch and I see Spences avatar on Petes avatar, because if that is not a computer glitch then that is just weird..... Apologies for the spelling (and grammar).... I got a B.S, not a B.A. :)
  10. And last I heard he was giving the prize to charity, so if the republicans in congress want to deny that they can go ahead and I am going to go get my popcorn. Apologies for the spelling (and grammar).... I got a B.S, not a B.A. :)

  12. Exactly...a 'Professional' class for lack of a better term. There is nothing wrong with being a world class! But lets consider a more level playing field for those grass roots members of our sport that may aspire to be classified that eventually... ...however, currently would like to participate in a national venue in which they may actually have a chance of winning. I don't know what the answer is, I'm just looking for ideas and input from peers on how we can bring this thing into the 21st century and make it something better than it is, something that may benefit all the participants equally, as well as the sport in general. We had similar problems in collegiates. I know in 2006 we all sat down and seriously asked the USPA reps there what they could do about the military students, who if we'd like to relate it to this situation you are outlining in your original OP, are sponsored for all intensive purposes. It's like the civillian kids go there with their tattered gear, a few jumps, and no tunnel time and it's whoever can come in first behind any military students is considered the winner by the civilian students. It's tough to go to a comp like that and know you are already beat by kids that have all the resources at their fingertips and are training on your tax dollars. 13. Better than Bush did? Bush didn't, he went the other way, his first veto in his 1st 5 1/2 years was that of stem cell research that his congress pushed thru and he vetoed. Bush wanted the total culmination of church / state. Sorry.. the way I wrote that came out wrong. I meant that Bush wanted religion in as much as possible. He had zero regard for separation of church and state and if it were up to him christianity would have been incorporated in everything. I definitely did not like that. Sorry... that came out a little backwards in my original reply. Apologies for the spelling (and grammar).... I got a B.S, not a B.A. :)
  14. Agreed. I live in Houston, which is in the state that is ground zero for a lot of the tin foil hat wearing ass hats, and I was at a local restaurant last week and there was a group of nicely dressed older men who were obviously from Texas born and bred. (belt buckle, boots, and jeans.) They sat around nonchalantly talking about their guns and which one they would use out of their collection to shoot Obama with if he were standing right in front of them. My jaw hit the floor. It took me all of my might to not say anything, but I already know you can't argue with stupid, so whats the point? I was not a fan of Bush. I know lots of people who passionately were not fans of Bush, but never in my life did I ever hear people or hear of people having conversations such as the one that I was witness to. So Bill is exactly right, the level of hate and paranoia is MUCH higher and it started before this guy even took office. As for specific reasons why I voted for him and why I am still giving him a chance to be a great leader-- I wanted us to get out of Iraq, which he is doing. I wanted us to go after the agressors responsible for 9/11, which he is trying to do. I wanted to see human rights faught for on all levels including the rights for gays and lesbians, which he is slowly getting to (starting with the passing of that bill in congress yesterday to extend hate crimes to GLBT's). I wanted to see more done for the middle class, which so far he has done a lot more than Bush and proposes things that can benefit the middle class a lot more than Bush. I wanted something done with Healthcare, which he is doing. I want to see something done with education (student loans, scholarships, ect.), which he has already touched on and is continuing to work on. I wanted somebody who would value the separation of church and state better than Bush did and not let religion influence issues like a woman's right to choose. Has he done everything he's promised so far? No. Is it fair to expect all of these things right away? Hell no. That man inherited an absolute mess when he took office. I understand he needs time. So, in my book he gets a fair shot and when the time comes to say, "OK...where's all this change?" well, then I'll definitely say it, but that time is not now and it won't be any time soon. Apologies for the spelling (and grammar).... I got a B.S, not a B.A. :)
  15. Well, I can offer my experience and take what you want from it. I wanted to fly all of my life. If I didn't fly, then something to do with aviation and/or weather. So, being such a specialized field, I had only two schools to choose from for an Aviation Meteorology degree and both were private and VERY pricey. I had already been skydiving for a year before I graduated high school, and just bought a really cheap set of gear before I went to college. I came into financial trouble right off the bat and sold the rig to help pay for the $1500 of tuition I was short because scholarships/loans wouldn't cover it all. Each semester was worse as tuition went up and up. So, I pretty much spent five years in college gearless and just skydiving here or there barely staying current. (hence why I have so few jumps since my 2002 registration) So, I got a lot of shit from dropzone people throughout my five years at school poking fun at me for not jumping much. I just told myself that some day I will get out, get a job making pretty good money, and be able to have the gear I want, in the colors I want, every fine detail I want, and jump and travel to my hearts content. All I can tell you is that it was worth the wait. So, I just recently started to get back into jumping again. My weird schedule I work now really limits me time wise, but other than that I have no limits to stop me from doing or having what I want in the sport. Your situation is a little different as it is a 1 year trade program, but still similar in the fact that if the end result will be more rewarding for you and will put you in a better position, then I say set skydiving aside and get this next step of your life in order and it will help you eventually be more financially comfortable to skydive all you want. Are you sure that you can not get these loans deferred somehow? I went to school in FL and my private loans were the only thing that had to be paid back while in school. I called them and told them my situation and they got deferred each semester when I called. I now have about 80K to repay just from my undergrad, but like I said, it was totally worth it. Good luck!
  16. To further, from the BBB in the posted article: 'Kathleen Calligan with the Better Business Bureau said because these kinds of experiences are so contingent upon the weather and other factors, consumers should be careful. "These are high-risk purchases, with consumers shouldering the burden of that risk," Calligan said. "Anyone considering a gift of this nature should be very cautious before buying and understand that the elements may factor into the company's performance."' They neglect to mention the b*tch can come back anytime she wants when the sun is out. Look, SR has done some shady sh*t. That said, the DZs operate just like any other DZ. If they were to jump through clouds or in in heavy wind it would be 'look at that slyride DZ breaking BSRs!' if they dont for safety, you get this piece of sh*t article and you angry mob A-holes shout 'those dirty bastards are stealing again!' I have yet to go to a dz in nearly 5 years that gives a refund to anyone for weather conditions. The example they used in the article, the dumb b*tch went in november in TN, 'its only my birthday once!' Moron, it isn't a carnival ride. Come back again, or would you rather potentially die? I took my sister for her first tandem in december out here in cali and we were weathered out. My entire family made the 2 hour drive. Guess who b*tched and moaned? No one. If you had the first clue how hard it is to get my family anywhere near a DZ... Our schedules didnt match again til this past July, but we jumped together and it was f*ckin great. You people are so god damned bias you can't decipher between skyride, a dropzone, and the f*cking weather. "I fart in your general direction!" -Brett Nobody ever said in the story that she didn't go because of weather. They didn't say if the weather was good or bad that day. Just FYI. 17. Nnniiiiicceeeee I'll keep on, keep on, then! My heart sank a little when she told me that because I really do enjoy fun lacey things from victorias secret. Apologies for the spelling (and grammar).... I got a B.S, not a B.A. :)
  18. But NPR and other outlets are not promoting themselves with the tagline "Fair and balanced." That's the problem I have. I think they all put their spin on things, but I honestly think Fox is the worst and promote themselves with that tag line to boot, so it's just icing on the cake. Sprint Phones?

oh, I def. don't love it. Hence why I am getting rid of it as soon as my year is up and I can get the rebate on a new phone. I just want something with an actual keyboard. Apologies for the spelling (and grammar).... I got a B.S, not a B.A. :)

  21. I was actually told by my crotch doc that going commando was a good thing because it allows the who-ha to breathe and avoid warm/moist areas of the panties which can cause yeast infections. Can we get Doc Kbord to comment on that one? Is my doc a crack pot? Hhhhhmmmmm...... Apologies for the spelling (and grammar).... I got a B.S, not a B.A. :)

    Sprint Phones?

last year when I was up for a new phone with sprint I really wanted a blackberry. Everybody at my work uses them and swears by them. The instinct was just coming out, so I did a lot of research on that and sprint told me it was their version of the iPhone basically. That was good news to me because I would love an iPhone (with out the iPhone cost of the plan. what I am getting from sprint for 70 bucks is going to cost well over 100 with iPhone everything plan) I like my instinct, but for me personally I really should have went with something with a QWERTY keyboard and not a virtual keyboard. Fat thumbing this thing makes texting VERY difficult. So, when I go back for my new phone next month I am looking at the palm and the blackberry's for sure. Apologies for the spelling (and grammar).... I got a B.S, not a B.A. :)
  23. I find that there are a lot of RW jumpers at every DZ in TX that I have visited. I am used to being in FL with all the freeflyers, so it took me some getting used to. Definitely a good mix at waller though. Simon Bones is up there organizing a lot of fun and crazy freefly stuff. I agree with Wendy on the suggestion to go try them both out. When I moved to Houston two years ago I did exactly that, and after about 4 or 5 weekend trips out to Spaceland I realized I was not only the lonesome freeflyer, but I was also the lonesome fun jumper-- the only person not on a team or doing a student jump, and personally that's not too fun for me to go to a dz and not socialize or jump with other people. I live 20 mins from Spaceland and 1hr from Waller but I make the drive to Waller because there are people of all disciplines and skill levels to fun jump there on the weekend. That's just my personal experience. Try them both out and see what kind of vibe you enjoy more. Good luck and have fun in Houston! Apologies for the spelling (and grammar).... I got a B.S, not a B.A. :)
  24. Spaceland has some new facilities that are pretty nice, but if you are looking to get licensed and/or fun jump, then I would suggest Waller. It is very common to go to Spaceland and be the only fun jumper there. Mostly a team/tandem operation for the most part. If you are finishing up your AFF both are good DZ's, but if you want to get the experience of shootin' the breeze after a day's jump with some good food/beer and have a butt ton of fun people to jump with from any discipline, then I would suggest skydive houston. Apologies for the spelling (and grammar).... I got a B.S, not a B.A. :)
  25. well the poster hasn't told us which type of flying she wants to do now but, while I like my wife's suits best - I think Bev's female cut suits are about the best out there for a 'bigger' manufacturer Bev suits really fit a female body well for RW, and for Freefly I would hands down go with Liquid Sky. I've already posted some stuff recently on my experience with Julio and the company and it's exactly as everybody else said. Super customer service, and I got my custom suit within a week. REALLY comfy. Definitely get what you pay for! Apologies for the spelling (and grammar).... I got a B.S, not a B.A. :)
