I have 2 cats and 1 dog that like to sleep with me. We've come to an agreement. The dog will crawl under the covers and then turn around, lay on his side, put his head on the pillow and stay that way most of the night. Keep in mind he's 80lbs so he pretty much takes up one half of the bed, with the exception of about 2 feet below his feet. I get the OTHER side and am allowed to sleep diagonally with my feet below the dogs. One cat will sleep between me and the dog (they're friends). The other cat will sleep on the OTHER side of me near the corner of the bed (he hates EVERYONE). I am not allowed to move. That's the agreement. Best get used to it. 'Shell 'Shell

The Canada Day Riot, which happened on a weekend that Mahoney was up to visit. If you know Mahoney, having him say that we have a bunch of idiots that have no respect for anything fucking up your neighbourhood says a lot. Then there was the recent near-riots, raging fires, fights and vandalism along Whyte Avenue during the Stanley Cup Playoffs. THAT was fun. And most of those arrested were, of course, NOT from the area. In fact, a lot of them weren't even from the City. I don't know if it's the influx of people coming to Alberta for work or if it's just a bunch of idiots that don't even live in the area thinking it's okay to "piss in someone else's backyard". I used to live in that area and about 8 years ago, it was a nice, quiet place. Lot's of little cafes and restaurants to visit. Some cool, unique shops. I moved about 3 years ago when the noise from the partiers became too much to deal with. Since then it's gotten much worse. I wonder how these people would like it if I went to THEIR neighbourhood and took a shit in THEIR yard. I'm pretty sure they wouldn't like it. 'Shell 'Shell

Maybe they wouldn't have to learn to deal with it, or pass a law against it, if people would learn to act like human beings and not animals. If it could hit them in the pocket book, it might make some people think twice about acting like a complete jackass in public. Yeah, it sucks when people are mean but I've found a better way to get back at them. I'm not on the "front line" in the service industry (I'm a Conference Coordinator) but I have to deal with some rather snotty folk in my job. When they get snotty, I get "twice as nice". I say, "Yes, no problem, I'll get that head table for 8 with 4 mics on the stage that you didn't request, at the next 5 minute break along with the blue M+M's in the crystal bowls at the registration desk ASAP." There's no point in getting angry. They just get angrier. If you're nice, it makes them get a little bit calmer. And in the end, you might end up making them happy. Plus, other customers hear how you've dealt with them and they think much more highly of you and you look GOOD to a lot more people, even if the original "rude person" doesn't think so.
