Is it a Sabre or a Sabre2? How many jumps on it?

How about a really old Outlaw

Cessna 182 & 206

Buttonwillow was OK (I did a track school there), but I love Parhump! I like the elevation change through the first right 180, flick, and then into the left 180. Then it has that nice back straight to get your speed fix.

I dropped a tooth up front just because I like the way the power was distributed. I always enjoyed watching the FTP / Las Vegas Extremes guys, but when I was riding, nothing compared to track days

The nice thing about doing it this way is it gives you some rpm range to play with before upshifting. But yeah, it comes up quick

For a roll on wheelie with my 2000 R1, the best way I found was rolling it up to 4 grand slowly, let off for a split second to load the front wheel, and then goose it. I never really got into wheelies that much, because I had Ohlins shocks put on for the racetrack. I wasn't interested in busting their seals... And a BIG ditto on investing in leathers, good helmet, good gloves, boots, and a back protector.

That would of freaked me out! I had a Swift 175 5-Cell reserve for 350 jumps, but luckily I never saw it...

When did they chage the requirements for licenses??

Nationals only require a "C". -
My Bev Comp Suit has been great. Good customer service too!

Thank you for a very intelligent and well thought out response.

I bought it from the gear shop in Eloy, and the price isn't burned into my head because my Mother bought it for me . I don't remember if it was Square 2 at the time. It was run by a tall thin guy with grey hair (50's maybe). I'm so horrible with names....

Wow, another $300. I remember picking up my Vector II brand new for under $1k in '93. Can anyone explain why canopy prices seem to have remained pretty level and container prices have gone bonkers in the past decade? I paid $1500 for a stiletto in '94, and that's about what they're selling for now. I've been on hiatus for a while...

How old were you when you did your first jump?

That's awesome -

I was actually 15 when I did my first tandem, but I voted for 16, which was when I started my FJC. -
Umm.... I don't think we'll ever see your rig on the stolen gear report
-
Damn. I remember when it was $10 jumps for turbine madness (with reg fee, of course)

Back when I was SL jumpmaster, I wouldn't hook up a student until we were at an altitude that I would put them out at on the SL if we had an emergency.

Should there be underage skydiving?

When I started skydiving (tandem at 15, FJC when I turned 16), it was at a smaller Cesna & Queen Air dropzone, and my mother was a realtor (wuffo) that worked with a bunch of the jumpers. In that environment, I had a ton of people that looked out for me, and they weren't afraid to get on my case if I was doing something stupid. I hung out there every weekend packing for jump money and helping with students, so it was a great environment for a kid to learn the sport. BTW, one of the people that looked out for me back then is on this board (Jimbo i.e Bozo). I think things could be different at a large dropzone, where it's easy to get lost in the crowd. It also depends on the attitude of the kid. I was always a serious and responsible teenager, and between my attitude and witnessing enough injuries first hand, I was probably much older than my years would show. -
I talked to Rick at Sunpath, and he said both a 150 and 160 fit in a J2. He recommended the 150 though, because I live in the desert. BTW, anything would be better than my last reserve ride under a 26' round, in 20mph winds, with a bad spot over a neighborhood

I made my first jump (a tandem) when I was 15. It was a long 3 months that I had to wait before turning 16 to start my first jump course... Lots of hanging out at the DZ wishing I could jump -
Well, you gotta have tunes on the way to the dz! Check out my car at http://www.cardomain.com/memberpage/786464.

I've just bought a J2 Odyssey, and I need to get a reserve for it. Sunpath's chart shows it's cut for a PD160 (364 cuin), Raven I, or Tempo 170. I'm going to order either a Aerodyne Smart 150 (346 cuin) or 160 (360 cuin), and I don't want it to turn into a brick. I'm comfortable landing either, and it will be matched up to a Sabre 2 150. I jump in the desert, and I've been told canopies pack a little bigger down here. I'd prefer to get the 150, but I've heard people mention on this site that the Javelin is supposed to have the same closing loop length on any reserve. Will the 150 pack too small?

I've done about 10 night jumps in Vegas, including a couple demos, back when the dropzone was in town. I can't imagine anyplace cooler for night jumps

I was just suggesting that it is a good formation for many types of planes. The year my 4-way team won collegiate nationals, we launched a meeker out of the back of a skyvan every round. We then would transition to the first point on the hill. We did all of our practice jumps out of a twin otter, and we decided it was better to launch something that we were confident we wouldn't funnel vs. something that may give us an extra point.
