  1. I got some coaching this weekend on my sit, but I still wasn't able to hit it I'd like to check out your newbie sit pics too!
  2. After 500 jumps without one myself, I broke down and bought one today too. I've been kicked and knee'd in the face a few times during RW (hard enough to drip a little blood even), but now that I'm starting freeflying, I figure that I might actually be hit hard enough to be knocked out. Those free flailers are crazy! Now that I'm not a starving college student, I can't use that "being poor" excuse anymore either
  3. Well, I just read Icarus's owners manual, and in there they explain the rolling is actually more like 4-5 fold overs when psycho packing. I'm going to give that a shot too. The funny thing is that I probably have a couple thousand pack jobs to my credit, as it was the way I earned jump money when I first started jumping. My skills must of degraded over the years
  4. One more thing. What is it that actually happens to Zero-P that makes it easier to grip as it gets some jumps on it? Is it a coating that comes off? Is it just that the canopy gets a little dirty? Are the manufacturers just evil?
  5. Hey all, I've compiled a few resources on packing new zero-p. Dropzone.com Help Sid's Reserve S-Fold Brent Finely's Pro Packing Tip Psycho Pack Unfortunately, I didn't get mine bagged up last night. I think Brent's idea of the multiple folds of the tail got me the closest, but I think it didn't work because I put TOO much pressure on it with my knee while s-folding it. It just got too fat when I did the last s-fold. I only gave the psycho pack a quick try, but the canopy was so slippery to even try to roll. I also hd the problem with the roll getting so fat. I may give it another shot tonight. Anybody have any other suggestions?
  6. The second color is silver. My last rig was all black, but I wanted a little highlight color. I'm a big believer in the "black goes with everything" idea. This was it matches my current RW suit and any main canopy I may end up moving to in a year or so. I'll post up more pics this weekend with it all filled up.
  7. I saw that myself this weekend, and I thought I saw a Discovery Channel HD logo. I tried to look at the listings but didn't see it on there
  8. Nevada is listed twice too... Nevada RW POPS-14 Nevada RW-38
  9. The dreaded pie interest rate!

    NEW RIG

Looks great! After I order my new rig, I started to think I should of gotten something brighter. That way people will be more likely to see me coming to take them out!
  11. Well after much anticipation, my new Voodoo showed up yesterday! It only took 6 weeks, and it turned out great. I've had a brand new Sabre2 150 and Smart 150 waiting for it, and I hooked up the Sabre2 to it last night. The reserve is getting assembled tomorrow. Anyway, I just wanted to post up some pictures in case anyone else was thinking about a Voodoo. The build quality looks excellent, and you get all the good features for no extra cost. Mine is a size V3 with full articulation, cut-in laterals, kill line pilot chute, freefly handle (Not on the order form, but just ask), RSL, soft reserve ripcord handle, double wide leg straps, colors and pinstripes, dive loops, and velcroless toggles. All for the base price of $1500. Great deal! I also wanted to say that Brenda Reid @ RI and Christian @ Square 1 were great for putting up with my weekly calls to check on what was happening. Brenda was also nice enough to change my order when I found that they offered a freefly handle.
  12. SQ2 in Eloy - $67.50/day, $35/half-day, $30/jump
  13. It was an F-5 BTW. OK, how in the hell could the pilots in the first photo even know how close they were to each other?
  14. Awesome! Those pictures really caught the joy of that jump, and it brought a smile to my face!
  15. The initial costs of getting into the sport are high, but definitely worth it. I started jumping in high school (talk about low income), but I managed by packing a few dozen rigs every weekend and working part-time at a computer store. Also, cutting back on misc. expenses (eating out, convience store, etc) is a good plan. Don't get discouraged though. When I pulled into the parking lot at the DZ last week, there was a brand new 2005 Corvette parked next to a beater 1980 Oldsmobile... Everybody manages
  16. The SIM's talk about wingsuits as well. Generally they recommend 500 jumps or 200 in the last 12-18 months. Check out the wingsuit forum.
  17. Sad news... My dad flew U2's for the Air Force for a bunch of years in the late 70's and early 80's. As a kid, I always thought it was cool to see him suited up in his "space suit"
  18. Your profile lists you as a senior rigger. Is that correct?
  19. I've always used my eyes too, but I'm not trying to set up a 270 at 700ft... It's easier to judge height closer to the ground, and you're not commiting yourself too much with a 45 degree turn in.
  20. Does everyone use a Neptune or some other digital altimiter in addition to their eyes to judge their setup height?
  21. I'd say the price is pretty reasonable. Maybe try to haggle down a couple hundred bucks.
