  1. What were the odds he'd come from outside of Europe? Huge: 40 percent of all Catholics are in Latin America and I gather they decided it was best to have a Latin as Pope in the event many Latins wane from Catholic over to Protestant, which has been happening especially with Latins living in the US. Besides, even though he's from Argentina he's from Italian decent. Also, Latins are having more kids than Europeans so choosing Latin for Pope was wise choice.
  2. Water is more valuable than gas. In fact, I believe most of the middle east problems are over water rights.
  3. you can buy some pretty bitchen computers for 7000. From the 80s till 2000 or so, 3000 was the price of a pretty good pc. (now it's under 2) The measure of pretty good kept moving, but the price was fairly consistent. 7k either is heaps of striped SSDs or dual octo core Xeons and 128gb of memory, or a 4k screen. Circa l984 computer, software, printer around $7,000. MACS cost more. My first motorola cell phone was $7,000 And my first fax machine was $750 and I owned a typesetting machine that cost $20,000
  4. circa l984. MS and PC were pretty much the same. One can't live without the other.
  5. I'm thinking that the biggest market Gates has right now is China and India - and they are growing...... As for his charitable donations, it's his money. None of your business. If you want to complain about keeping money priorities to domestic benefits, you might consider complaining about policies from the exec and legislative branches of the government. I've done that too, and I've also stopped buying MS products. Well that's up to you, but it's yet another example of your mis-directed anger. Gates donates zillions of charitable piasters that are spent in the US. Bill, Linda, and Warren only need give away 5% of the total to maintain org as charatable organization. Most of the money goes overseas. How many computers did you buy at $7,000 each that you ended up having to throw away a few years later. And with all the MS online updates, how do you like it when your computer gets buggy and you have to go an buy another one! So go help them with reinventing the toilet for poor nations as if the Feds don't already do that. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bill_%26_Melinda_Gates_Foundation
  6. I'm I under arrest. Am I being detained? May I proceed. May I go back into my house. I need to contact my lawyer. Is this the United State of Amerrica where I have certain rights pertaining to illegal searches. This is private property. I must ask you to leave. I need to contact my lawyer. I cannot answer any of your questions. Have a great day! See you later.

  8. I totally missed that: perhaps once it gets to the reactors and boils it will be pretty tasty. Don't forget to throw in some celery and onion!
  9. Oh wow - coming from you that's pretty rich. POVERITY? At least the "I" is capitalized!
  10. Perhaps it was a good idea to ship all the manufacturing to China. Otherwise we'd be living in a pig pen like this sewer. Also, what is in the water you don't see! About imports: I've actually bought tea here from China that had rolled dirt balls mixed with gunpowder tea. Yuk. I had to throw the whole bag out... http://www.cnn.com/2013/03/13/world/asia/pigs-china-river/index.html
  11. US killed Bin L. This guy should have gotten the same.
  12. Really? I suppose you never spend a dime outside of your city, or county or state, as the tax revenue will go to someone else, too, huh? I'm sure you would be all for a law that would require you to do jut that, too? Maybe, just maybe, we should learn to be competitive on a global scale, and offer something to Microsoft that they can't get overseas? If that is not direct cost savings in initial manufacturing and support, than something else that Microsoft couldn't live without. What I'm saying is that he might spend money here, give back, to people here as WE were the ones who gave him all his money. I do recall paying nearly $7,000 for a dos machine, key board, mouse and printer.... And I just didn't do that once. He's out giving his money away.. money he got from us, free to other people. Maybe he should work to prevent USA obesity problem as many sit at computers getting fat...... he's the one partly responsible for that problem xbox etc, that he might help to alleviate our problem.

  14. I'm sure that folks like you have said the same thing ever since 1846, the last time the US had no national debt. Somehow the country has survived and thrived. So why not borrow money and give it to all US citizens. Why the suffering. Why are kids in day care. Why are people left to struggle to pay bills. Why not just borrow a lot of money to give away. Why not make every family in the US including gay families and single girls with dogs as pets, multi millionaires. What's holding us back. Hell, if everyone was a millionair there'd be more spending and a much better economy. In fact, during the recent financial crisis, there was so much money floating around that homeless people were buying $700,000 houses. If you think about it, giving away money works.... It's a fake economy anyway.
  15. OK big fart. In checking facts, here's all the hundreds of inmates the federal gov't has put to death..... AMOUNTING TO 3 Any state, or Fed, bring them here and you pay for room and board for life... http://www.deathpenaltyinfo.org/federal-death-penalty Since the world is the battlefield, take care of justice in the battlefield. The couldn't have asked for better treatment he'll get in fed pen as that's a lot better than state pen.
  16. It's so exasperating seeing Bill Gates spend money in India and Africa when we were the ones who gave him all his money by having to purchase his licenses every other year due to having to upgrade. He should be forced to spend his money here or be taxed. You use to be able to buy a refrigerator and it lasted for 40 years. Now that everything is electrified and turned into a computer including stoves and cars, you have to upgrade every other year. NOW, soon you're going to need an iphone every other year as that's the new computer. Soon your eyeglasses will be a computer. Who needs 40 billion anyway....'
  17. And still revenue wealth. The mafia has revenues but it doesn't create wealth. honest question given a real world scenario. i am not trying to win and argument but am curious to your thinking. feel free to not answer but please do not change the scenario to fit your opinion. i am a market maker in a stock. i negotiate a price and purchase stock from an institution. the position can go against me but in this case rises and i sell it for a profit later in the day. my firm pays me a percentage of that profit at the end of the month. i spend that money to buy a house, car and other items to live. IMO i created personal wealth. i also created revenues for the firm to expand and hire more people who do the same. they also purchase houses, cars and other items, spreading the wealth to others outside our firm. this creation did not detract from anyone else's earnings, nor did i take them from anyone else's assets. that is my opinion. In your opinion, am i just skimming or creating wealth? I am not trying to win an argument but truly curious your opinion on creation of wealth. i hope you can answer, knowing my example is of my job, without any insults. I have some old gold coins. They are worth more now than they were worth 25 years ago. Did I create wealth in any way by keeping them in a drawer? No, I did not. And neither did you in your example. At first i assumed you changed my scenario to meet your bias. With more thought i honestly think you believe they are the same and that no wealth was created. Thank you for your answer. i find your thinking oddly fascinating. you have a very narrow definition of wealth. with this clarity i find you more of a strange man than an angry man, which i have called you in the past. i apologize for that. i think i might take less offense to you going forward. Well, by your definition I have created wealth by storing some old gold coins, because I can sell them at a profit, creating revenue for myself, and buy a house, car and other items to live. I, however, don't consider that an act of CREATION so much as an act of manipulation. well sort of, but not really. you would need to replace the coins, a tangible and commodity with an equity security. which is the example i gave and you chose to ignore. then you would need to purchase the equity security, assuming risk, then sell it at a higher price realizing a profit. i would agree in your scenario you have increased your wealth but not created it. i have no idea what you mean by manipulate since its a simple purchase and sale. i in no way affected the price of the security. the market forces did that. i assume you could not help yourself and are trying to insult me by implying my work is manipulation thus attaching a negative connotation to it. thought we put that behind us, i suppose not. anyway, i think we both need to agree that our definition of wealth creation is different and walk away. i can do that without any further insults and hope you can. have a good evening. Do you have pinky fingers? It's easy. When you start a sentence, simply hit the SHIFT KEY to capitalize the start to every sentence. You're doing a good job reaching down there to type a period, now just put a tad more effort into your typing to CAPITALIZE the first word to your sentences as your copy looks like dog crap. So much so that since you're making so hard to read.... why bother reading the crap.
  18. Considering the implending ban on AR15's I'm not surprised the whole of the US is not out buying them. Once everyone has one who wants one, it won't matter about any ban as any ban will effect new gun sales. Some are getting rid of AR15 due to proposed licensing, taxing, training legislation which may make owning an AR15 not worth the expense or hassle.
  19. Because if he is tried in NY, and found quilty of helping to murder thousands on 911, he won't get death in NY. Perhaps if he's extradited to TX he'll get death, but it is unlikely the perp will be going to TX any time soon. In fact, NY lawyers will make millions off of this. Plus NY residents get to feed, cloth, and house this perp till he dies. Hoorah for higher taxes for NY state residents! We spend billions on military equipment and strike perps on the battlefield, but somehow this perp gets a free ride to NY on a Gulfstream, you pay for, so that he can live out his days peacefully under New York State care... including getting expensive root canal work done on his his teeth for free! The perp is freed from being on the lam for so many years. Now he can reflect on his accomplishments without the burden of having to constantly look over his shoulder from being caught. Who brought this guy here, and why? And why isn't this guy dead! "In 2008 Governor David Paterson issued an executive order requiring the removal of all execution equipment from state facilities." http://www.deathpenaltyinfo.org/new-york-1
  20. All I know is when I've borrowed the money I have a good time spending it. I'm having a real bad time when I have to pay it back. If I don't have to pay it back then I can say I had a real good time spending the borrowed money. If I die with debts, yet have no heirs then I'm good. If I die and leave debt to heirs, then my heirs are not so good. So its really a matter of principle on how much debt I have and if I have heirs. In this case America has heirs. Children that will have to pay for others excesses. Hence: America has no principles.
  21. What are you doing in this thread? There are no Negroes to pick on. You always bring race into it. Now you are twisting things using derogatory terms. The women is black and I never picked on anything she supposedly stated.
  22. Typing education? Typing skill and ability to spell are two distinctly different ideas. Additionally, just because you can type does not mean that you can spell. Then there is copy editing, a different idea with its own set of skills involving both typing skills and ability to spell correctly. Please let me know if I've made any spelling errors as I'm not copy editing this statement. That said, perhaps the author spelled poverty as "poverity" [sic] due to having a disability, not based on typing skill or inability to spell correctly which has nothing to do with any education received in keyboard use, or spelling principles. Can we now conclude any more discussion about poh, verty as if you are impoverished yohs is pohwah. no whata mean. Poh
  23. She meant that it's OK for the government to pay for abortions. Jeesh Huffington Post taking things out of context to twist to their liberal point of view.
  24. The responsible parties have done a real good job at eliminating the ghetto in much of DC in raising property values. You see they raised the values and the people who lived there saw all that equity and sold out for the cash right prior to the recent depression. Most moved to Montgomery County Maryland where now ADA's are mostly the elected officials and where any elected official who is charged with a felony can and usually do, stay in office till they are jailed, if you can believe it even after caught stuffing money up their bra right before arrest. And there are plenty of shootings now in Montgomery Co MD. You will note the article said the neighborhood where the shooting occurred was changing over: but the real reason, and this is mostly the case, the shooting occurred after a nightclub let out. Now DC has many shootings around clubs patronized by ADA's. It's also been reported locally that mostly everyone in the club is packing. So the subject of this topic might have read: WE NEED NIGHTCLUB CONTROL. Note: It's Montgomery County executives who are advocating strict gun controls laws for the rest of the MD counties who lack gun violence
  25. Facts: 2 am, BMW with darken windows at New York Ave near liquor store. Area is moving from ghetto to upscale area... Comment;Eliminate the ghetto and reduce gun violence. Restricting gun ownership in suburban or upscale neighborhoods is not a solution. And why is it whity gets all the attention when they shoot up the place when hardly any attention is given to inner city perps when they do it more often. DC, Detroit, Camden etc. ------------------------------------------------------------- " The shooting occurred directly across New York Avenue from the Big Ben Liquor store, on the northern edge of the District’s up-and-coming “NoMa” (north of Massachusetts Avenue) district. Cranes loom overhead, marking new construction that is rapidly filling the empty lots that once dotted the area. New condos, stores and office complexes are being built among apartment complexes that for decades have housed lower-income city residents." http://www.washingtonpost.com/local/crime/up-to-11-people-shot-on-dc-street-corner-overnight/2013/03/11/d7c5197e-8a39-11e2-a051-6810d606108d_story.html
