ASRS Report of jump plane running out of gas
ChrisD replied to theonlyski's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
Thanks for the nightmares I'm going to have tonight. Mandatory time in a tailwheel I'd say... More crap to think about, about basic skills and the lack thereof.... Ten hours in high winds in any citabria/ Decath would have cured that ass's heavy foot and lack of basic rudder skills. Something for all of those 250 hour wonders out there that can't master their rudder cause renting a conventional is beneath them... King Air's and MU2's two pieces of shit that you should know your pilots experience and qualifications before you get into either of them....Flying fucking coffins if you ask me....both have the safety record of a B-17, (in 1943). But what do I know, "I only have one tandem jump." -

Thanks for that -
I'm out at KRHV at the moment, and we have a student who's parents are funding his flight training, so they bought him a twin. Just to rack up hours in. In actuality, if he doesn't ding it, which is highly unlikely, they will sell this thing, after 500 hours or so for close to what they paid for it. This brings the per hour cost to well below rental cost. Now I know that this may or may not have any bearing regarding new skydiving equipment, but if you have the cash...go for it! Not only do you have total control over your equipment, god knows who or what happens to student gear when it's left on a strange rack overnight, and with the antics some pull at boogieees...???? You get to chose what you want for yor gear! The peace of mind is worth it. And as you progress I can help with your new gear selections as well....The color computer programs are great to play with. C and no I'm not calling you "Francis" I think if you have the cash go for it, the rest of them are just jelous.... As you can see if you remove "money" from this discussion, everyones arguments and comments...wEll they just fall apart.... Your supporting skydiving and your supporting me by purchasing new or used if that floats your boat. I thank you for that! just remember to start planning for the best by thinking somewhat ahead cause some suppliers take time to manufacture stuff... Now if everyone could revisit this thread and just leave the cash word out, why shouldn't he / she purchase what they want???? I see more benefits than negative's.... But what do I know, "I only have one tandem jump."

Blue line is way above what this poser is suggesting as the speeds flown. This thing reads like some kind of internet spam thing, similar to the "penis size" junk emails I get on a daily basis... Never mind the fact that the fuel gages read in lbs, and are very accurate (most are ultrasonics) AND YOU CAN'T SEE SHIT LOOKING INTO THE FUEL FILLER INLETS! Any and all know this!! This sounds like total bs to me from the alleged pilots report... Where is the "primary first source" ? How about some links? C Four mile final???? Four miles out at 1000 AGL? Or four miles out at 3000 AGL? Either way this story is made up.... But what do I know, "I only have one tandem jump." -

The "House" down the road goes for about 300 per week, but bring ten friends and you can see how that works.... I can't remember the number but manifest should have it. You will or someone will need a car, it's just a little tooo far to walk.

I see you survived your Cat A??

Sometimes dealing with Defense contractors can be daunting. Do the items you wish to purchase require an export lic? Theere are two lic depending on the products: One from the state department, depending upon the classification; And or one from DOD. Did you supply AS with their part numbers? Do you even have a product from them or is it a section from another manufacturers sub - assembly? Are you an approved purchaser? Is what you are doing even legal? I'm not being sarchastic although even to me this sounds like I'm being a pain. Dealing with Defense products is a dayly fight what with all the attempts of the Chinese and Iran / Irack trying to get stuff thru intermediaries and third persons. I am glad to hear Mr. Sherman was able to help you though!!!

You might even consider getting into a decompression tank or go scuba diving. It turns out that the one glove wonder (Michael) might not have been totally nuts after all. And yes this sounds verynuttey even to me,...so check it out as well.... C Lots of research about the health and accelerated healing effects of higher than ambient pressure on tissue. Finished AFF L3 Monday, but seeking advice.

If you have the cash, a tunnel will help with skydiving....period. I understand every ones point about tunnels but "framing " them in a possible negative light and as a cure all for every ailment is not the best use for a tunnel. You go to the tunnel to have fun and learn,...it's all good -
Front risers - how much do they need to move?
ChrisD replied to PixieUK's topic in Safety and Training
At this point I would spend more time discussing and being concerned with why you were backing up the whole skydive. C -
Thanks for the reminder about the ground! That was a huge thing with me cause I couldn't run that fast thru the weeds and all the loose and uneven rocks etc. So I waited till dusk and moved over to the "Base Lodge" area at the ski hill we were using, which was like a slopeing manicured golf course. Once there I could run much more effectively!! Thanks again

I'm not 100% sure what your asking? Anyways loosing lbs is always a great resolution but few actually do it, if you do then let me know and then would you please help me??

The dude just wants to take "his" canopy out to a local hill for a spin or to have some fun. I took my old PD 200 to a ski hill once, I'm not going to purchase some of the specialty wings for this purpose... My experience wasen't pretty and constantly fighting with the rear risers and toggles to get the thing inflated and/ or off the ground wasen't pretty either, but more than once I flew down the hill and it was kind of a gas. And yes I was scared shitless and not very good at it either... I can see the potential for a hard hit, you can see that in ten min or less as soon as you figure out how to steer in a forward direction. I could also get just as wacked on one of those ground skateboards some kids were playing with as well..... Is there an easy way to learn to get the thing in the air for a self launch? Any Utube vids ?? The Facebook link is excellent and reminds me of my day in the dirt.... I think we get the warnings to be safe and I appreciate this advice, but I'm going to use my skydiving rig for this anyways... Just to see what happens.... "Warming of the climate system is unequivocal, and since the 1950s, many of the observed changes are unprecedented over decades to millennia. The atmosphere and ocean have warmed, the amounts of snow and ice have diminished, sea level has risen, and the concentrations of greenhouse gases have increased" Over 250 very well educated individuals with out any vested interest have come to the following conclusion.... And you dismiss this by saying that they "lie." Who the fuck are you???
-
You had better take a real hard look at the actual letter quoted in this Rebublican dribble. Not that I'm taken a stand here but there are more misquotes and selected quotes that are out of context than usuall... The author of this lie, and that is what this is...has taken many statements out of context and then carefully crafted his own words around the out of context quotes. It is as if the Bible or Koran or whatever has been corrupted by the Devil. Take or better said find sentences, mix them up and then provide your own misleading explanations.... Apparently they are counting on the fact that many of you allude to that no one is going to check on what they say or read the whole thing... I feel sorry for you sheep that resonate with the perpetuation of this stereotype and just read until you are satisfied what they have to say is the truth. Kind of like tha many posers on DZ.Com that read reviews and other advice until some dum shit says what they want to hear and then accept the worst possible advice as real because that's what they want to hear. Same thing here... You all see something in the Worlds most right wing propaganda machine, Forbes, you all think your gonna be million airs by reading this shit? All you doing is funding the mechanism thats raiding your pockets, I bet they get a big laugh at how easily you can be "persuaded" by all of their misquotes.... C Wake the fuck up... going to the antithesis of Unions to hear what Unions have to say is just plain stupid. But what do I know, "I only have one tandem jump."

The IPCC is or as of this writing released its 5 year update. That's an organization funded by the UN, NATO, and a few others.... The latest evidence is dammning... thats conclusive that man has and is contributing to GLOBAL Warming on an unprecedented scale. The IPCC has shown that most of the current Climate Models are "Considerabley" underestimated. I just wanted to give you Ostrachices a heads up so that you can come up with your latest Krotch brothers, oil clonglomerate funded babble....and once again show us your ignorance and short sighted monkey see monkey do view points.... C But what do I know, "I only have one tandem jump."

Knowing the person is irrelevant. My concern is that so many jumpers of the new age are totally absorbed with how they look or how they are perceived and or how they are this or that.... the point is snag hazards have become rampant and accepted. This will and has caused a fatal. Posting public domain pictures for discussion is and I certainly hope a great way to promote discussion and awareness. If you can't see this then I suggest you stay away from jumping because it seems your interests are misplaced and the rest of us now have more work to do, to prevent you from becoming a problem for the rest of us. We should have a dedicated pocket for student radios, sewn into the jumpsuits located away from everything, someplace where it can be readily heard. So that there is no snag hazard and our chest strap is free and clear. This is not too much to ask AND IS DISCUSTING TO ME THAT THE MAJORITY OF DZ'S WORLDWIDE CAN'T TAKE 20 MIN TO DO A LITTLE SEWING.... Fuck all of yas!!!!

Dan is alive and well, mostly sunset or sunrise. Generally need seven passengers, not all need to jump. Nice step on outside of gondola. (figure on about 100 bucks) apparently the price varies depending upon numbers... This is probably one of the best values out theerree!! Just spoke with one of the jumpers when they got down 9/18/2013 They were out of their minds

There are some great vids on the internet, on ski hills and such. For the life of me I can't remember their names? Gravity Pilots was one of them,??? Anyone??? They don't have to worry about the flood level caus Global warming is a myth,... What a nice home!!

I'm not sure what planet your from...

thanks dave, I'm just really frustrated about all of this. I've seen a steady rise in cost , much more than inflation, and I think this is the Bear that is going to hit all of us in the rear at some point.... I wish there was more that we could do to stop this unabated cost spiral. In many respects I can see small clubs forming where everyone is "volunteering " their time and pooling funds just to do one or two loads per day...because that's all we will be able to afford.... C At some remote location, with no insurance, and no Gov intervention....hey wait a min...that's how all of this started.... But what do I know, "I only have one tandem jump."

Not sure if this is fair or not but "borrowing" an 182 for a distant demo (Not me.) in the New England area, with insurance and pilot included, wet, ... 185.00 per hour. (Insurance stipulates: one ground person per jumper, written letter from all insurance companies beforehand stipulating who is covering ground coverage, two way radio communication with ground crew, min space requirments for landing area, and a few other things...) Anyone else run into this,...some have told me this is on the less costly side for a distant one way ride.... C Seems high to me. Perhaps this is just one other reason why demos are on the decline??? C But what do I know, "I only have one tandem jump."
