Out of curiosity, have you ever thought this sport might not be for you?

First, thanks for doing a tandem...tandems keep our DZs open for us veterans. Second, i understand your enthusiasm and everyone one of us has had them. But remember this sport is NOT a weekend thing, it's a lifestyle. Most of us work in the "fake" world so we can support this lifestyle. Trust me, you will lose whuffo friends (because you will be at the DZ all the time if you want this to be your lifestyle)... You will have horn dogs like me try to hit on you at the DZ because prospects are rare commodities. You will be poor..no matter what anyone else says, this is an expensive sport to start into (i say start into because of AFF, being current, tunnel practice if necessary, gear, jumps). There is no glory in skydiving, only personal fulfillment. All those youtube videos you see in slow motion and with awesome soundtracks is just that...glorifying skydiving. Skydiving is a personal fulfillment. Other than that welcome to the skies, hope to dive with you soon, hope to go out on a date if you are inclined to do so.

sir, with all due respect $9/hour and then $10/hour won't cut it. You can do it probably on a very very very strict budget. Mid next summer is possible if you're thinking of doing JUST AFF. But if you're going to be a skydiver factor in you have to be current meaning you'll want to be jumping as often as possible. Skydiving ain't no weekend thing,,,it's a lifestyle (often of being poor). Good luck in your endeavours

Not for everyone, that is true. Sorry you had a bad experience. I would rather think of it is a collection of the craziest creative minds ever. And definitely not a poor man's rave... at $380 per ticket, plus flight there, plus supplies... yeah. I look at around $1200 to go. Surfer,,yeah, i think it's the dust that got the best of me..i found dust in between my toes 2 weeks after Burning Man. But yes, not for everyone but worth trying out 1 time.

I use a full face helmet because I do a lot of RW. Its all about personal preference. Some like full face helmets and some don't. I don't think that they're good for students because they do cut down on your peripheral vision. I too like using a full face helmet for RW...nothing like a dude's balls in your face from a funneled exit doing a 6-way

You know what i noticed, most of the Canadians i've run into here on the forums have been immune to my trolling. How about Top Gun? Nope. One of the times I hated him. I liked him in Magnolia, where he played a misogynistic asshole. A natural role for him. I liked him in Legend. Cheesy flick, but he was good as Jack. Still new enough to work for his meal ticket. He was decent as Lestat, too.
