    I've dealt with a lot of students who speak very poor English. For an instructor to make "jokes" that can be misunderstood, and taken seriously, shows me that the instructor is a bit of a dickhead. Misunderstandings can kill people.     Not true, you can induce a turn by adjusting your weight in the harness. A deflated end cell will cause the canopy to turn. Don't let the toggles go until after you've landed. You have to be in control of the canopy at all times. My computer beat me at chess, It was no match for me at kickboxing....

    I knew a guy who used to bring his plate to the lunchroom, and his idea to solve the sampling problem was to spit on his food. One day someone else asked him why he did that, and his reply was "so no one else wants it", whereupon the other guy leaned over and spit on it as well, saying, "well neither do you now"....     AC has its own rules. But I guess losing part of your crew would make it a lot more difficult to keep those machines under control. In that first race when the Kiwi boat made like a submarine I was amazed it didn't get ripped apart. And the skydiving connection is there, we stole a few ideas and technology from the sailors back in the early days of CRW, (riser trims) and watersports have stolen a lot from skydiving...witness parasailing and kite surfing as two examples. When the AC came down to NZ the sailors and sail makers picked our brains to see if they could learn anything new...not sure if they used any of our ideas, but it didn't stop them from asking.     As a student its important you land as slowly as possible, until you develop the skills to handle landings... Downwinders mean you are going a lot faster horizontally, and cover a lot more ground, and if you hit something it is gonna hurt a lot more. Downwinders are not inherently dangerous unless you run into something. And thats why you have wind limits as a student.....higher winds mean you can cover a lot more distance under canopy and means the chances of an out landing are much higher. Demand your JM explain this to you, simply getting angry is not the mark of a good JM. Was this not covered during your training?. It should have been.     Always leave the plane unlocked, not because of fears of it being stolen, but because of junkies breaking into it to raid the medical kit. For some reason they think there are drugs like morphine in there. Of course there aren't any drugs in there, but if the plane is locked they will smash the lock to get into it, and it is a pain fixing that sort of damage.     + 1. Some people should not have the ratings, as they would fail the most basic instructors courses. I've actually interfered and taken over a course where the instruction was so bad...in this case it was easy....Where the class showed up at 8 a.m. to complete EP training and the instructor didn't show up till 1 p.m. looking like a bag of shit. The only time I really wanted to punch someones lights out. My computer beat me at chess, It was no match for me at kickboxing....
