  1. Once they figure out a replacement for the giant firecracker you're strapped on to, things might be a little less risky. Then again, they might create another problem. Thats why they have a test programme. My computer beat me at chess, It was no match for me at kickboxing....
  2. Its little wonder you keep getting run out of town. My computer beat me at chess, It was no match for me at kickboxing....
  3. I had a rig stolen from my car, reported it to the cops, who called me a couple of months later. Raided a house and there it was completely untouched, along with a big stash of stolen stuff. I got lucky. My computer beat me at chess, It was no match for me at kickboxing....

  5. Thats a bit of a shock. Ann was around the jump scene for quite a long time back then. Doubt if a medical would have picked up an impending aneurysm though. RIP Ann. My computer beat me at chess, It was no match for me at kickboxing....

  7. Dumb advice from the soon to be dead. Opening altitude, already used a few seconds determining there is a problem, so lets increase our descent rate, and hope it solves a problem which it probably won't. DGIT. EP training is done the way it is for a reason. Stick to it. Altitude is precious. Don't waste it. Stop the freefall!!. My computer beat me at chess, It was no match for me at kickboxing....
  8. Our DZ was right beside the golf club, the exit point was often over the top of it, and the greenkeeper used to show up now and then with a box of junk he'd picked up....odd shoes, busted up altimeters, cameras, gloves and steel ripcords, some of which he'd found with his mower. Funny how no one really seemed to say anything about losing stuff, but it only got there from one direction. If someone dropped an old B4 ripcord you'd often hear it coming if it was overhead, everyone would dive for cover under cars or into the hut. The old Sentinel power handles would be the worst, get hit by one of those it would likely kill you on the spot, a pound of solid steel. 9. Put an advert "Wanted to buy" in the paper, supermarket or on Ebay, for the same sort of bike.. I did that one time and the reply I got was from the thief who had my goodies. Busted!. Its a long shot but worth a go. Sometimes thieves can be pretty stupid. My computer beat me at chess, It was no match for me at kickboxing....
  10. Agreed. But if the highest scoring answer is a simple "you dont" it kind of limits the evaluation of the analytically thought process. At least IMO. To rephrase: whats the merit of a question like that with the correct answer being "you dont"... I will refrain from venting my frustrations any more before this becomes a threat hijack. I want to end on a note, something my grandpa always said: If you are going to dangerous stuff, you better do it really carefully Cheers Aha, I see the problem. This thread was actually taken from another one which was discussing the fatality with the Mr Bill. I agree with you completely, as my posts(and a few others) show. The "you don't" answer was one given by someone else as an answer to the question set in an exam, by someone else about the broomstick jump. My point (as a few others said) was that this was a ridiculous answer to a question which should never have been asked in an examination, as it doesn't examine anything of the candidates ability to reason out an answer. It was probably only worth 1 mark if asked with a "you don't" answer in mind, which as you say should not be in an exam in the first place. The Mr Bill question I asked was worth 15 marks, obviously requiring a well reasoned answer. My computer beat me at chess, It was no match for me at kickboxing....
  11. I think the merits of that question have been clearly pointed out. An Instructor rating in many countries is a prerequisite for someone to run a DZ holding responsibility for the safety of all jumpers on the DZ at all times. As an examiner I want to know if this candidate has both the skydiving experience, and analytical thought process to come up with a safe way of carrying out or allowing many different types of unusual jumps, as well as the knowledge of when to veto something that is obviously a risk to life and limb, before I pass him the responsibility for the lives of others. I am looking at both his judgement and reasoning ability. That is the whole point of an exam, and my role as an examiner. And that is exactly what posters on here have pointed out. 14. Can you not get a riggers ticket in Sweden. Most countries have their own rating systems and exams, but when it all boils down to it, a parachute is a parachute. Where in the world it is located shouldn't matter. My computer beat me at chess, It was no match for me at kickboxing....
  15. Fair enough, my point was aimed more at less experienced jumpers who might think this is a good idea. A safe landing after a reserve ride should be priority #1. You've already had your moneys worth on that jump, dealing successfully with the mal. And S&TA's don't really need the extra hassle, so winding them up isn't such a good idea. It can be a shit job at the best of times. My computer beat me at chess, It was no match for me at kickboxing....
  16. I understood what you meant, but I am a Brit and I think we tend to assume sarcasm first! I found it pretty funny. Came across just fine to me also. And I also laughed out load. Personally the only time I threw my handles was on my first mal, but not until I was ready to reach up and grab the reserves lines so I could crank a 270 riser dive. I had not stowed them yet so I decided to drop them intentionally as I was over the landing area and I wasn't going to waste a jump ticket and not hook it. Troll bait?. But if not...... Thats not a smart piece of thinking for anyone riding a reserve for the first time ever. "Handled the mal, then damaged himself hooking an unfamiliar canopy". 22. Watching the dude doing drogueless head down, what effect do you think a reserve popping during that phase would have on the bodies of the TI and his rider. Perhaps his helmet mounted go pro might record the event as it flies away from the scene with his head still in it. My computer beat me at chess, It was no match for me at kickboxing....
  23. Before releasing the brakes he should have tried to work the slider down using rear risers. Canopy is slower and more stable leaving the brakes on. If working the risers doesn't bring the slider down (and it looks like it might not have done so anyway), go straight for the chop.
