  1. We'll she if her attitude changes when her power goes out.
  2. Oh my gaaaaawwwwddd! Ms Gibbs identified a BLACK HELICOPTER! Holy Tri-Lateral Commission and Batman...those black helicopters are real. She got the tail number to and IDENTIFIED the actual make and model of the helicopter. Wow she's getting real hip to aviation! Ah but she got put in her place by the FAA when she was on such roll! And the beat goes. I guess we'll see what happens in April 2015 when her lawsuit finally goes to trial.
  3. The premise of "if she runs" and the survey answers are a either a very poor attempt at glib humor or just plain horsepucky. 1) She's running. She's doing everything but announce. 2) The questionaire is...well it just is what I've previously described.
  4. Yea maybe you're right now that ya think of it. The survey question and possible responses don't even rise to the level of fertilizer.
  5. What Trafficdiver wrote! We've talked about this ad nauseum have we not?
  6. Kinda stacked the deck with your survey eh? Heads you win, tails you still win. What kinda horse shit operation you running anyway?
  7. Only because Chicago City Government, has either ignored or watered down the Heller and McDonald decisions.
  8. ***...where well-trained police forces provide personal security, and where gun violence is a serious problem." I'm surprised to see this wording in the opinion since many rulings, particularly Castle Rock v. Gonzales state the police have no legal obligation to provide personal protection.
  9. I'd be very interested in hearing what happened in Quincy and Rantoul. I think many here would be interested as well. Please.
  10. Great post. I hope you get a lot of input from the more experienced jumpers and instructors on this matter. I'm more than interested in what they have to say.
  11. Yup, I think you're correct on all counts particularly on the very likely possibility that this was a command staff level decision. Now the badges on the beat and down in the trenches have to make this work. As is usually the case, "the stuff" rolls down hill.
  12. I might understand the issue of terrorism and infrastructure protection etc. While this might be a valid justification there's a factor here that just smacks of pretext which allows for the WVSP to run this data for prior warrants etc. and all this with very little if any probable cause to make any justifiable argument by the State. And of course, the question is begged...why now? We are 13+ years after 9/11 and a couple past the tragedy of the Boston Marathon. Sadly, perhaps it's time to pull the plug on New River Bridge Day. A unanimous postion by the Skydiving Community standing in support with the BASE Jumping Community is certainly called for. Fayetteville, WV, City Government knows the financial impact if Bridge Day ceases to be. There are other places who want the $$$ the sport brings to the local economy and will not (hopefully) impose so many bureaucratic obstacles.
  13. How much money comes to Fayetteville, WV, the week leading up to and the Saturday of Bridge Day? Assuming the report is true, the entire skydiving and base jumping communities should just opt out. Let the city government and the local business voice their displeasure to the LEO's. Money talks and bullshit walks.
  14. Do tell! What's in that crystal ball of yours that makes such prediction of 9 years?
  15. Yea but the dufus made his remarks on Obama's watch and the "crown jewel" of his administration. Defaulting back to "43" got stale a long time ago.
  16. ...and your point to what is already known and stipulated?
  17. Well...is there a difference IYHO between that of serving as an expert witness versus visiting the Obama White House (what is it 9 times according to visitor records) and providing substantial inputs to legislative policy? In the Bush years as you contend, there's little chance if any (but always some possibility) that he consulted "43" on any issues. I think you'd have to go back to White House visitor logs during the hated Bush 43 years to know for certain. On the other hand, his visits to the White House and the subject of his work place a better than even chance Gruber DID meet, consult and advise Obama. Bush has been out of office going on seven years now. Besides, you seem to argue everything from the negative..."Well the other guys did it so..." Whatever happened to "wrong is wrong?" It's kinda like your best buddy leaving the airplane with no rig. You gonna do the same to keep up with your buddy? Personally speaking...I hope not, we'd miss you around here.
  18. While not expressly stated in my post, it was nonetheless known. And yet, there is some condition of illegality to it.
  19. "South" of you, we call it "Stolen Valor" and it is illegal down here whether or not the offender is mentally ill. The greatest offense of these dirtbags is to those KIA'd giving as Mr. Lincoln would say, "The last full measure of devotion." They earned NOTHING of what they are wearing. They never endured the training and they never served one day in an operational status. Simply put, they're frauds down here and frauds up there!
  20. So if Fox accused the Democrats of the very same thing, you'd be here itching, moaning, bleeting and making every coarse sound you could that, "Fox News is at it again!" First, gather the hard evidence, AKA the hard data. If the hard data is there, I'll stand with you. Do you have the code book to "crack the code" to verify those evil rascal Republicans have conjured up a new tradecraft? Illegal? You might be right but please cite chapter and verse of the US Code of Federal Regulations. Until then...fertilizer...just fertilizer.
  21. I confess to the "cherry pick" of the sentence but I won't use it out of context. I would suggest prudence in the use of "peace time" during that time is misleading. It was a war, a Cold War where two superpowers of different ideologies squared off with a bunch of nuclear weapons threatening to destroy each other and the rest of the world. It was a war in the shadows where many died but no one talked. The B-52's, the land based missiles, and the Boomers out on sea patrol weren't there for s#!ts and grins. I think (just my opinion mind you) that the only reason both sides did use a considerable amount of restraint was that both sides knew the stakes and that they loved their children more than they hated each other. The Soviets were also sobered by the fact that they lost 30 - 60 million people during WWII. To the personal side, while I've previously addressed an important part of the legal definition of a Veteran, there's a personal side with respect to values and mindset. Your'e not alone in thinking and mindset. I put 22 years in. Big whoop! In the balance, I enjoyed all of those years. Like a vast majority of Vets, the values of selflessness, service, and discipline are as much a part of me today as when I was in. It gets ingrained and does not go away and so it becomes a part of day to day living which we see as routine and not particularly special. Like many other Vets, it's what I chose; no one forced my hand. I would imagine that the same you learned and experienced in those four years of your service has stayed with you as well. The fact that you may or may not have engaged in combat ops is no the issue. You like I were small parts of a larger strategy. We did what we did simply because it was the job we were given. In his book, "America" Alistair Cooke looks at the American Soldier from the context of the Minuteman...the Citizen Soldier who keeps the rifle at the ready and answers the call but when the fight is over, returns to civilian life picking up where they left off. George Washington said something similar, "When I assumed the citizen, I did not lay aside the soldier." We did our jobs, kept the faith and now a younger generation replaces us to take up the mantle. Take a step back and think about it...VETERAN. P.S. Now don't go thinking too much about what is already self evident; it's time to skydive!
  22. Ah shucks! No conversion?!?! No front page story? Rats! Oh well, it also means Hell won't freeze over! Situation all back to normal.
