Question about ah hem.....drugs.....at the DZ...?
ChileRelleno replied to pyke's topic in The Bonfire
My attitude about "talking about drugs" is, be discriminate about who, when, where and what context when your talking about such subjects. My attitude about drug use is, "DO NOT" use during operations!, "DO" be very "low profile" when using after the beer light comes on!, "DO NOT" buy or sell at the DZ! and "ALWAYS" remember anything you do can be used against your DZ/DZO by people who might want to shut them down. Have the gear shop fix "Their" mistake and at no cost to you. Get it the way you want it, the way you payed for it! ChileRelleno-Rodriguez Bro#414 Hellfish#511,MuffBro#3532,AnvilBro#9, D24868

Folks, if you have a incident ,if you damage property or injure yourself take it upon yourself to file a report with USPA online. They don't name names or places in the published reports so your ego won't get any more bruises and I surely hope you take responsibility for your actions... Its YOUR responsibility to make sure its reported IMO. ChileRelleno-Rodriguez Bro#414 Hellfish#511,MuffBro#3532,AnvilBro#9, D24868

I filled out my own report online at USPA after my incident. Yeah, its a shame that very few incidents do get reported and sometimes fatalities don't either... I think the DZ's are afraid of any scrutiny... ANY, and also a little lazy. Your average DZO and staff usually have their hands full with day to day operations and gathering the factual data and filling out a report would probably happen later in the day after the beer light comes on and we can't have that can we? And I believe this failure by most to report incidents is a great disservice to us all, I read all the incident reports and learn from others mistakes and I wanted others to learn from mine. Or my dearly beloved daughter you can go buy a "Brandi Belt" a belt on swoop cord made by Flitesuit, it is a continuous swoop cord and may be belted on or even better sewn in to your jumpsuit. ChileRelleno-Rodriguez Bro#414 Hellfish#511,MuffBro#3532,AnvilBro#9, D24868

What are the factors that you pick a DZ?
ChileRelleno replied to kyros1's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
Oh the joys of being a longhaul trucker! Well after 34 states and 59 DZ's none of'em "really" matter except "driving distance" and the distance/miles to a DZ only counts when the detour off my planned route exceeds 10%. Some such as jump price, and staff/DZ friendliness are influencing factors as to whether I'll have happy memories of a DZ but with the exception of one DZ in Alabama and one in Nevada I'd go back to every DZ I've visited -

Blue Skies, Black Death (Roger Nelson)
ChileRelleno replied to SkymonkeyONE's topic in Blue Skies - In Memory Of
My sincerest condolences to the Nelson family. Rook and Missy peace be unto you in your grief. I honestly feel sadness and regret when I hear of fellow jumper passing but I'm close to tears on hearing about Rodger's passing. having met and jumped with him and having experienced his wonderful passion for this sport, you could see it in his eyes and hear in his voice. Blue Skies Black Death... ChileRelleno-Rodriguez Bro#414 Hellfish#511,MuffBro#3532,AnvilBro#9, D24868 -
Freedom fries with Mayo, how Euro can you get... But their not bad. Even better lets go north to Canada and put a tasty brown gravy on'em, major yummy! One of my personal favorites is combining sweet whole kernel corn with mashed potatoes then adding cheese (drool). ChileRelleno-Rodriguez Bro#414 Hellfish#511,MuffBro#3532,AnvilBro#9, D24868

Did you take a canopy control class?
ChileRelleno replied to Michele's topic in Swooping and Canopy Control
No, but perhaps I should have. It might "might " have saved me a long recuperation and alot of jump$$$. I must admit I learned ALOT from my mistake and matured greatly as a jumper, I've seriously thought about it since then but the combination of money, time and location just refuse to cooperate with each other. Think about this folks, my leg is now worth more than $23,000, thank god for my having excellent BCBS coverage, my out of pocket was less than $3000. How much is a canopy control course? Do you have medical insurance or are you a leech on society in the event of a major OOPS! Want to see some great pictures of my injury search my post for X-Rays and photos. Two reserve rides in 311 jumps, Reserve ride #1: Horseshoe malfunction due to premature container opening (cause not ascertained). Reserve ride #2: Spinning main on opening malfunction (poor body position and perhaps sloppy packjob). ChileRelleno-Rodriguez Bro#414 Hellfish#511,MuffBro#3532,AnvilBro#9, D24868

Coaching, coaching, coaching... Get yourself some coaching, whether you get it from a professional or a mentor willing to take you under his wing at your local DZ these jumps are invaluable. If your lucky enough to find a mentor you trust and has the skills to teach you at home be sure to buy them plenty of refreshments not to mention their jumps. What's up Bigun? I had to vote "Not at all" because I've never been there or even in the AF's, but I did growup a navybrat watching the Navy Leapfrogs and others at the NAS Miramar airshows and they were always the highlight of the event for me. Airplanes and helos were cool but the skydiving demo teams always had me awestruck and I knew I'd jump when I got old enough. Say hello to the gang in Tulsa for me.
