  1. I knew a guy that tripped after landing, hit his head on a rock, died from swelling on the brain. If shit can happen on the ground it can happen in the air, it can happen anywhere. How many scrapes on my helmet would have been on my noggin, damn skippy I wear a helmet! ChileRelleno-Rodriguez Bro#414 Hellfish#511,MuffBro#3532,AnvilBro#9, D24868
  2. If I'm already low with a pile of crap above my head i.e. too low to cut away and pull my reserve. Then I'd rather try for two piles of crap with the potential to transfer one to another. ChileRelleno-Rodriguez Bro#414 Hellfish#511,MuffBro#3532,AnvilBro#9, D24868
  3. And I will continue to investigate this until I'm satisfied. ChileRelleno-Rodriguez Bro#414 Hellfish#511,MuffBro#3532,AnvilBro#9, D24868
  4. QuoteCurious where you got the drag numbers? Quote While researching the threads for more info I found a post from Billvon regarding RPC size with these numbers. ChileRelleno-Rodriguez Bro#414 Hellfish#511,MuffBro#3532,AnvilBro#9, D24868
  5. If full flight in zero wind = 20mph, then headwind @ 10mph = 10mph and tailwind @ 10mph = 30mph airspeed. This airspeed will affect the amount of drag a pilot chute produces. ChileRelleno-Rodriguez Bro#414 Hellfish#511,MuffBro#3532,AnvilBro#9, D24868
  6. **reflex RPC drag at 35 mph: 15 lbs** **reflex RPC and CPC drag at 35 mph: 22 lbs** Seems to me like if these are correct that the reserve should have been extracted and begun deployment??? ChileRelleno-Rodriguez Bro#414 Hellfish#511,MuffBro#3532,AnvilBro#9, D24868
  7. Crossposted without poll from "General Skydiving Discussions" OK, heres the deal. The other day I got stupid and went low. I pulled at 1500' was open at 800', right as my main was completing deployment my Cypres fired and I was left with a RPC, bridle and Catapult RPC(secondary RPC) in tow. The reserve D-bag was not extracted, the reserve canopy did not deploy. The reserve D-bag was held in place by closed corners(pockets) formed by the reserve side flaps and material coming up from the main side flaps. My forward speed under canopy was pretty good, full flight with a 10-15mph tailwind. Witness stated that RPC's and bridle were at full extension but not alot of drag(like a kite tail). Harness/container - Reflex Main canopy - Hornet 210 @ 1.19.1 Reserve canopy - Tempo 210 @ 1.19.1 AAD - CYPRES expert The main point of concern is that a canopy transfer has always been one of my emergency gameplans, for instance, in the event of a flying yet unlandable damaged main canopy ect... My question far all of you out there (particularly you riggers and gear manufacturers) is should the reserve have deployed? Yes? No? and your reasons why. I'm looking for all the input and information I can get on this incident. ChileRelleno-Rodriguez Bro#414 Hellfish#511,MuffBro#3532,AnvilBro#9, D24868

  10. Heidi'ho Dropdeded, if you haven't already moved this tank, may I ask how big is your tank? This is important because the first thing you may need to do is have another strong person at hand... OK, my wife and I have multiple tanks and are getting fairly experienced at this stuff. step#1- remove all filters, heaters ,plants, rocks, decor and ect... step#2-remove enough gravel/sand and water as to be sure you'll not risk collapsing the tank bottom. step#3- leave enough water for the fish (Depends on tank/fish size, may need to bucket fish as last resort). step#4-move tank and stand to new location( make dang sure you have it where you want it and that it is sitting on the stand properly, you don't want to do it twice!) step#5- add the gravel and assorted decor, refill tank with water and treat with proper water conditioners, let water condition and come to room temperature or re-install heaters and heat before adding fish. step#6- re-install filters step#7- Add fish and leave'em alone for a day or two( they've been royally stressed, be prepared to lose a couple fish.) step#8- Add plants ect... step#9- enjoy! Best of luck, this is a pain in the ass. ChileRelleno-Rodriguez Bro#414 Hellfish#511,MuffBro#3532,AnvilBro#9, D24868
  11. Yeah right, hell just the gravel in my 75gal weighs in at 40lbs(dry weight). Add rocks, decor, water and fish, plus the tank and stand, my setup weighs in at over 900lbs. You need to be sure when setting up med/large aquariums that your floor structure can handle it. ChileRelleno-Rodriguez Bro#414 Hellfish#511,MuffBro#3532,AnvilBro#9, D24868

  13. Great pics, and congratulations on popping its cherry... BEEEEEER!!!
  14. I've been to two out of the three in the general area (Eloy, Buckeye and Coolidge) I'll get to Coolidge one of these days. Hands down Eloy gets my vote! ChileRelleno-Rodriguez Bro#414 Hellfish#511,MuffBro#3532,AnvilBro#9, D24868
  15. After having jumped 39 states and 69 DZ's I've found only two DZ's that I'll never go back to and just a couple that were so cliquish as to be rude or seem unfriendly. Usually all it has taken is for me to be my extroverted self and stand in the middle of the packing area and introduce myself. Even the most cliquish have then been atleast curious enough to invite me along and get to know me. It sounds to me like there may be other issues here besides just some old farts set in their ways/groups. I only have half a story. I don't think you should stop jumping because of others, thats as personal a decision as jumping itself. I do however wish you the best of luck breaking into the group/groups at your current DZ and if thats not possible take your money elsewhere. Blueskies! 18. Hi! My name is Chile and I'm an Anvil Brother too. You are not alone as you well know by now, my exit wght is 250lbs and I fall like Satan out of heaven. ChileRelleno-Rodriguez Bro#414 Hellfish#511,MuffBro#3532,AnvilBro#9, D24868
  19. Hi dropdeded, the word of the day was "Humblepie". I hope your doing well, I'm sitting in a public library in Tulsa,OK in order to get online. I posted about this event in "Safety and Training" on a related thread, check it out. ChileRelleno-Rodriguez Bro#414 Hellfish#511,MuffBro#3532,AnvilBro#9, D24868
  20. OK, folks, the jig is up it was I the now ever so humble and meek (yeah right!) ChileRelleno who initiated/experienced this event. In any event I've learned from my mistake. Now let me give you the rundown of what happened with this particular jump so as some other dumbass might think twice about the possibility of humming it low just for shits-n-giggles. A small group of us were joshing and joking each other about going low on this particular jump and I even joked that the one with a cypres fire wins. Anyways off we go, I actually was planning on pulling below BSR's and had thought to myself once aboard the A/C to have my cypres turned off but then thought to myself "I'm not going that low." (famous last words). Two of the go-low jumpers exited ahead of our group and then three of us exited a FF horny gorilla exit with the intention of holding each other in leglock to the point of reasonable insanity. One of us popped out of formation due to centrifugal force and I didn't release the other till he twisted around and started pounding on my rig (we had stabilized as a face to earth, leglocked two-way). I didn't initiate my deployment till my protrack was screaming its third warning at 1500ft and was in the saddle about 800ft. I didn't know my cypres had fired,I didn't know my primary P/C,Catapult P/C and bridle were in tow behind me. I was busy using the accuracy trick and examining possible outs (I made it back no problem and geeked a friend on the ground with a camera as planned). Since I didn't feel the primary P/C launch I figure the cypres probably fired while the main was "just" completing its deployment and transitioning to flight. My protrack readings were, Exit Altitude - 5700 Delay - 32 Deployment - 800 Okeydokey there's the scenario, I've learned my lesson, now learn from my mistake. To say the least there was some concern about the incident and in particular the fact that the reserve didn't deploy. I wasn't real concerned about it until Brew brought up the canopy transfer scenario, which is in my emergency playbook, that got my attention. We found the reserve D-bag to be held in place by the closed corners of the reserve tray created by the reserve side flaps and material coming up from the main side flaps. The force on the ground seemed minimal to extract the d-bag. All this led to much speculation and debate and we all decide to investigate and compare findings. My first point of contact was to talk with Ray Ferrell (hope I got the spelling correct) who currently handles tech issues and parts for the Reflex H/C. He was very helpful and gave me much the same info as you have given here, thanks to both of you for your help. I'm completely satisfied with the explanations given here and by others as to the reasons why the reserve didn't deploy and will continue to use my Reflex. My cypres did its job, my Reserve system functioned as designed and I will not be so stupid in the future. ChileRelleno-Rodriguez Bro#414 Hellfish#511,MuffBro#3532,AnvilBro#9, D24868
  21. Being a trucker location and access ia everything and these folks have it for me. I found these folks to be very friendly and full of great vibes. The DZ is small, quiet and cozy, planes, packing area and a portapotty nothing special just the basics for making fun jumps! Added West Virginia to my roster of states jumped (no established DZ's) with a very exciting jump into a local park bringing me to 39states and 68DZ's! Highly reccomend you stop and make some jumps here these people rock!
  22. Before I even recieved my A license I was making a solo in very cloudy conditions (big fat towering cummies). I was having trouble getting a spot so we circled multiple times searching (no gps) and finally found a nice gap. Off I go into the void, Right dow the side of this giant cloud that was just flat as a wall. So there I am Skimming down this cloud with my left arm in a cloud and some open skie on my right... Friggin awesome, look at the open sky "I'm floating" lok at the cloud "I'm doing a 120mph". It felt like I was surfing this cloud... I will never forget that jump!!!
