Why are you pro Israeli? When an author is too meticulous about his style, you may presume that his mind is frivolous and his content flimsy. Lucius Annaeus Seneca

Sorry maybe its my unfamiliarity with american slang but I don't understand what you are saying here. Also who the hell is Denis Hucinich? Never heard of him. When an author is too meticulous about his style, you may presume that his mind is frivolous and his content flimsy. Lucius Annaeus Seneca

That maybe so in some cases but not all, you seem to be missing the point that hatred is rarely based on accurate facts but on beliefs right or wrong. When an author is too meticulous about his style, you may presume that his mind is frivolous and his content flimsy. Lucius Annaeus Seneca

Two seperate issues, firstly by saying that using jelousy as a reason is a excuse for not looking at the real reasons doe not mean that my resons are the correct ones. However of course I believe that my reasons are amoung the real reasons or otherwise I wouldn't be saying that they are what I believe the real reasons are I am not saying that they are the only reasons but I have never met anyone who was jelous of america or being an american. To believe so simply is a way of saying "we're so great that that must be why people hate us, which is virtually a diffinative example of egotism and is a lazy approach to a complex matter. Probably elect them into office. LOL When an author is too meticulous about his style, you may presume that his mind is frivolous and his content flimsy. Lucius Annaeus Seneca

I believe that the above reasons (except jelousy which I believe is the lazy and easy answer) are why some people in the world hate america. Do you agree? Do you think its for other reasons? So why do you thing that some people in the world hate america? When an author is too meticulous about his style, you may presume that his mind is frivolous and his content flimsy. Where is your supporting evidence? Your laughable assertation that you know what I think better than I do is not evidence. When an author is too meticulous about his style, you may presume that his mind is frivolous and his content flimsy. Lucius Annaeus Seneca

I'm fully aware of what I said and I stand by it as its based on fact and observational study. Just one example of point two, http://www.newstatesman.com/200804170025 When an author is too meticulous about his style, you may presume that his mind is frivolous and his content flimsy. I don't, I'm certain that there are many who would agree with me. Besides, those are your words not mine. Its not arrogance to have an opinion. When an author is too meticulous about his style, you may presume that his mind is frivolous and his content flimsy. Lucius Annaeus Seneca

I think that is a egocentric blinkered excuse for not looking at the real problems. I don't know and have never met anyone who is jelous of america. if people genuinly believe that then I'd suggest that they have a very limited experience of life outside their borders. Now, that's an irony coming froma subject of a kingdom historically known to be very unacommodating to those people of countries they pillaged for centuries, and casted them as second class citizens. A good example, would be what was lived by M. Ghandi. When an author is too meticulous about his style, you may presume that his mind is frivolous and his content flimsy. Lucius Annaeus Seneca

"white male. That is the typical profile of an assasin (SIC)in the U.S." Straight off of most every TV show that deals with the subject. The profile of a murderer of any pres candidate would have to be based on the type of murder, where it occurred, the evidence at hand, etc. It's sheer idiocy to try to hypothesize a situation that has no facts to it. It only serves to feed certain people's personal biases and need to call others names. The thread is "How racist is America?". The irony is that some people are so consumed with white against black racism that their beliefs can become racist themselves (cf. Jeremiah Wright). Racism, like hatred, infects both sides of the fence. I've noticed that all the talk seems to be about white v's Black racism, what about Mexican/Latino racism? Isn't that quite prevelant? Why do people hate America? Good question, I think most people who claim to hate america have never been there and most likely have either had no or little contact with americans. So why the hatred or resentment then. How then are they judging america? I believe that in most cases it boils down to the following reasons 1) The USA's expansionist forigen policies 2) The USA's economic policies that result in the suffering and in potentially the deaths of many for the gain of the few. 2) The USA's cultral empire building 3) What many in the world see as rank hypocracy of a nation that declares itself to be the land of the free which then allies itself with some of the most oppresive nations on earth. 4) The USA's governments sanction of murder for political means and the use of torture whilst claiming to be the upholder of liberty. 5) That dispite making up something like 2% of the world population america consumes 25% of the world resources. 6) That the USA portarys itself via Hollywood to be a unwholsome and sick country. Thats why I think some people hate America. When an author is too meticulous about his style, you may presume that his mind is frivolous and his content flimsy. Lucius Annaeus Seneca

Silencers (Supressors) are legal for use with firearms in the UK. Useful when performing game and pest control. Also when shooting on ranges in the city close to residential areas. That sounds like a pretty scary prediction. i find it interesting that the colour of the gunman is up for question. I wonder if many in black america see Obama as a sell out of some description. I have and do travel outside the west on a very regular basis and know exactly what is what. However, I'm not making comparisons with other countries as I don't want to get into a 'my countries better than yours' pissing match. I'm just interested in what its like in the states compared to the media portral and what I see on the news and documentaries. Are the socio-economic gulfs divided alone racial lines though? Is there a glass ceiling that black and ethnic minorities hit? When an author is too meticulous about his style, you may presume that his mind is frivolous and his content flimsy. Lucius Annaeus Seneca

This isn't a knock america thread, I'm genuinly interested in what its like and why that is. Also this isn't a thread about which Presidential candidate is best its a thread that is just about the question in the title. With Barak Obama running for POTUS it seems that so much has been made of his colour. After the hurricane Katrina it seems that the blacks were left to fend for themselves. So often I see on American films and media race being brought up and it appears from the outside looking in (and from the inside looking and listening) that America is quite a racist place. When I say this I'm not just talking about white on black but black against white, mexican against white and so on. Is it really that overt? How racist is America now in 2008? I'm not saying that we don't have issues with racism in the UK, but it seems to be that in the US its far more overt and to some degree more acceptable. Am I wrong? What is it like in the US today when it comes to racism and why does it appear to be such an issue? U.S. Lacks Plan to Operate in Pakistani Tribal Areas, GAO
Skyrad replied to kallend's topic in Speakers Corner
At least someone is thinking straight. The sad thing is that the people of Pakistan used to love America, it was very common to see the US flag flying in shanty towns and in the towns and cities next to the Pakistani flag and loads of Pro US car stickers. The government of Pakistan has been fighting a bloody war against the Taliban and Al Q affliates in NWFP and has lost hundreds of soldiers. This area is Tribal area and called such for good reason. Some blame the Pakistani government but its hardly their fault. If the USA, UK, Canada and the Netherlands and several other European countries can't keep the Taliban in check in Afghanistan what chance does the Pakistani government have? Sorry you think so. I think your issues have much more to do with attitude and perspective. Is life really that bad? Is everyone you come across that horrible? Yes, there are many, many lazy fucks out there. And there are many people who are incredibly greedy. But really, society is in the shitter??? Very sorry you have to spend a few hours on the phone dealing with issues that you didn't cause - been there myself too many times. And sorry too that your internet access sucks. I have that issue now. But look at the happy side of those things. Wow - we are connected to people all over the world with the push of a few buttons. And we have so much information at our fingertips, that it's overwhelming. People created this - it didn't just happen. Yes, some people suck. But I wouldn't put the shit label on humans in general. There are a lot of amazing people out there doing a lot of good for society - through their jobs, their relationships, their raising of children, etc. Always look at the bright side of life... Look, your point is reasonably true, but I have an issue with it. We're undeniably surrounded with multiple shit factors concerning our lives and society. To then ignore them, to deny the situation explaining not everyone is shit, not all of society is shit, is fucking insane!! And it's only getting shitter! Another factor towards this is probably because so many people chose to ignore the situation! Didn't I mention apathy????? I don't know, I was going to read the whole thread but then I couldn't be bothered. Just a wee bit of leg pulling, I've nothing but respect for the professionalism of the Canadian forces, the job they are doing in Afghanistan to say nothing of the sacrifices they have made. Full respect. When an author is too meticulous about his style, you may presume that his mind is frivolous and his content flimsy. Lucius Annaeus Seneca
