  2. No, but its opened my eyes to why others feel the way they do and sometimes made me think about arguments I hadn't considered. its also made me realise just how little some people know about things I thought were general knowledge. 3. Shooting someone in the leg in the dark most likely is a bad idea. 1) If you're going to shoot shoot at the centre of the torso, foget about trying for head shots and shooting someone in the leg can still kill them (I've dealt with this in the past on trauma units) also a person shot in the leg can still shoot and remains a threat. What does the Italian term Picolina mean when used as a term of enderment? What is the origin of this term? When an author is too meticulous about his style, you may presume that his mind is frivolous and his content flimsy. Lucius Annaeus Seneca

  8. If you haven't fired a weapon in 18 years I'd suggest a pistol for you wife to carry. Sure shotguns are all well and good if you're not spot on target but they are only useful if you have them to hand, are you really going to carry it with you throughout your home? What about when you leave your home? (I don't know the law where you live). You wife is a trained cop and as such if recently retired may be the best person to carry. Getting twitchy with a 12 bore isn't a great idea, I'd start out by notifying the local police department (If they don't already know) about the situation and your concerns, make sure that your neighbours know to and get them to let you know if they see anything or anyone out of the norm. Look at your home and assess the risk. Make sure your doors are sturdy and have good locks on them (You may have not been too worried in the past but your wife’s knowledge and experience will come into its own now). Make sure all your windows have locks on them and that your home is protected by motion detector lights (Make sure they face away from the house not towards it) remove any vegetation that could hide someone on the approach to your door and driveway in particular. Make sure that your door number is clearly visible from the road and your premises are well lit. If you don't have one already get a peephole fitted in your door. Think about getting a camera that covers your door. Do you have a plan for: In event of Fire In event of intruder To get out of the building? To remain in the building (Do you have a room that you can reinforce to make it a secure (Panic) room? If there a phone signal in there? Is there a phone charger in there? Do you and your family vary the routes t work/school that you take? Make them and your depart time as random as possible. Have you got a home alarm? If not get one which has armed response/Police response. Think about non lethal counter measures also. Keep a phone in your pocket with a pre-programmed number to the Police. Obviously there are to many unknowns here, such as your background/training if any. Your home, location etc.. What he actually wants from you/your wife. But IF you have no training in armed close quarter fighting your wife (so long as she is able) would be the safer opition.
