  4. Doesn't seem like just small groups - Salman Rushdie being a high profile example. Part of the difference may be that the separation of church and state is non existent in much of the Islamic world. Salman Rushdie had a fatwa placed on him by the weirds with beards in Iran, no where else, that was decades ago now and he is still walking around and making public appearences. if it were a general Islamic problem of intollerance then he would have been dead long ago. I take your point about religion and the state but not every Islamic country is like that Turkey for example. 7. There were many nations that Jesus would have known about most of them would be in what is now modern day Israel. In Canaan for example which was then a seperate nation Jews had lived there since 1400 BC. Just because he MAY have said go to all nations doesn't mean he wanted to teach all peoples and throw the laws of Mosses out the window. (Especially as he was very clear on the fact that he did not come to do so.) Numbers 34:2 says "the land of Canaan as defined by its borders." The borders are then described in Numbers 34:3-12. A person coming from Canaan would therefore be classed as a Cananite regardless of their religion. For example: Mathew 15 21Then Jesus went thence, and departed into the coasts of Tyre and Sidon. 22And, behold, a woman of Canaan came out of the same coasts, and cried unto him, saying, Have mercy on me, O Lord, thou son of David; my daughter is grievously vexed with a devil. 23But he answered her not a word. And his disciples came and besought him, saying, Send her away; for she crieth after us. 24But he answered and said, I am not sent but unto the lost sheep of the house of Israel. 25Then came she and worshipped him, saying, Lord, help me. 26But he answered and said, It is not meet to take the children's bread, and to cast it to dogs. 27And she said, Truth, Lord: yet the dogs eat of the crumbs which fall from their masters' table. 28Then Jesus answered and said unto her, O woman, great is thy faith: be it unto thee even as thou wilt. And her daughter was made whole from that very hour. Was this woman a Jew from Canaan? He said her faith was great, its possible. But in Jesus own words... I am not sent but unto the lost sheep of the house of Israel. When an author is too meticulous about his style, you may presume that his mind is frivolous and his content flimsy. 8. Source: http://www.reuters.com/article/pressRelease/idUS34803+29-Dec-2008+PRN20081229 Remember all the strident cries from the gun-control folks about how allowing citizens to carry concealed firearms would endanger the lives of police officers on the streets? Gee, I guess that's not happening after all. What a disapointing thread. I saw it and thought, 'thats great, John has made a thread to honour all the fallen Law Inforcment Officers that died this year to make the US a safer place.' Instead I find a ego based I told you so thread. What a pity. When an author is too meticulous about his style, you may presume that his mind is frivolous and his content flimsy. 10. The teddy bear thing was in Sudan (Thats in Africa) Isreal is in the middle east, the cartoon thing was in Denmark (thats not in either the middle east or Africa (look it up). Now I know they are both outside of the US of A but at least try and make an effort when indulging in Islamaphobia old boy. Old dog, what does the location have to do with the point? We're talking about Islamic tolerance and those are but two examples that show a clear lack of it. I'm quite aware that these were in Sudan and Denmark. It's hardly phobic to note that one can be threatened with death for mere commentary. When someone releases a silly movie about Christianity, they picket in front. The pope says "you suck." Not quite the same. Certainly if you go back in time, it's a bit less one sided, but we're dealing in the now. Fair enough, but those are incidents amoung small groups (often ill educated and unintegrated) in distant countries and seperate from the Israel issues which remains a national issue rather than an Islamic one. If Islam was truely such a barbarous intollerant religion then the billions of Muslims world wide would be killing in droves and you wouldn't be able to walk down the street without being attacked. Your examples are no more representative of Islamic tolerence than citing the IRA, ETA et al as examples of Catholic tolerance. Or the Lords Resistance Army as typical of Christians. You simply choose to ignore the evidence of the actions of billions of peaceful Muslims worldwide. 12. Just one more. Do you take every thing you read in religious books as fact? talking snaks, made from a rib all that shit? you're the one claiming Islam is the religion of peace and acceptance. Meanwhile the participants in the religion want to severely punish or kill someone for the crime of having her class pick the name Mohamed for a toy bear. Or writing political cartoons. Or saying anything contrary. Real tolerant fucks. It's been a while since the Catholic Church engaged in crusades, and I can't recall when the Jews were powerful enough to do so. You confuse the Israeli's right to self defense with a war against non Jews. 13. your statement simply proves who uninformed you are about the history of this region. i'm pretty sure 1929 and 1936 cane before 1948 1929 Riots 1936-39 Riots 1948 was significant but it wasn't the start. but even if you take this date, again, it was the Arabs who didnt accept the division plan going for the "all or nothing". The two of you should be polititions, you both bicker about history while the women and children and elderly lie bleeding and dying. Its pathetic. I value a Jews life as much as I value a Muslims and this whole situation sickens me. 16. I agree, Paul never even met Jesus (unless you count the account he gave of his conversion on the raod to Damascus) Barnbus on the other hand walked with Jesus and was hacked off with Paul to the point where they went their seperate ways when Paul allowed non Jews in, renounced the practise of circumcision and threw the dietary laws of Mosses out the window. Still how the hell was Paul going to sell having to give up pork and getting your willy cut to the Romans? I'd say Paul is the founder of Christianity not Jesus. I'll amend my previous post: Haven't read much of the gospels, have ya? Actually read them all, have you? 19. Hi, Thanks for the response, I don't think you sound like a fanatic. You sound like a born again/born form above Christian. In response to: I'd ask as another poster has, what f the other religions are correct (Thinking about the Jews here in particular) if they are right (and Jesus was of course a Jew himself who claimed that he had not come to change the laws of Mosses) then by worshiping Jesus as a God then God isn't going to be happy with Christians at all I'd think in which case it could be you with flames lapping at your backside in the afterlife. Of course I understand that you completely believe that you are correct and that its the plain truth and part of me admires that, however have you or do you ever question your beliefs or the evidence on which you base them?
