  1. I'll go along with your comments. I guess the reason I brought it up was because the vast majority of comments at Regina's Place were being done by folks you see here (virtually) every day. It was obvious. Anyway...moving on... Recently I started checking out free video conversion software because there are a lot of videos out there on Cooper, or other media files in MPEG4, or whatever formats etc. I go to PC World and look for a recommendation on free software to bring all these media files into a DVD format. I ended up downloading the program on This Page. Works very well, and is truly free. As with all true freeware, you just have say no to...or check/uncheck the correct boxes while downloading. I tested it out by downloading an MPEG-4 newsreel file on the Atomic Age from the Internet Archive. Converted it using the free program, works great. The program will take practically any media file from any source and make a DVD out of them for you, it even includes a simple menu you can add to the DVD. Too cool. there are dozens of those. can you download something that is not on You Tube? I've had a Tube uploader for years.... 2. it's pretty obvious the whole problem revolves around you Robert. the comments are directed at you. it's Regina's problem by continuing to allow the comments to stay on there. the sTory is about KC and people went after you on that site is the way I see it. not our problem here. if you feel the need to police the Cooper sites. that's your biz. I don't care who made them. Quade will find out in a heart beat if someone is using another account and quickly end it. Facebook and You Tube are full of trolls, account jackers etc., it's not just sometimes, it's very frequent if you read comments on either. 3. "Actually, it was partly YOUR problem, since YOUR name was used in many of the posts" why does this problem continue to be a problem??? you keep acting as if this has never happened in the history of the internet? this "problem" has it continued? what year did this happen? really it's nobody's problem except the person who runs that site. they can either monitor the comments, or simply shut them down if it's out of hand. WHO CARES?? added: I just went to that site. it seems to revolve around you since your name is brought up on just about every post. this makes it your "problem". not ours or DZ'S..... 5. Quote They were convinced he had bailed north. Perhaps he did. Odd considering ... they seemed to of been convinced of a lot of things at the start of the investigation. I don't think they agree with some things from the past today.... "It is surprising how aggressive people get, once they latch onto their suspect and say, 'Hey, he's our guy.' 6. 'All of that was based on the original search area announced." the original search area they couldn't even search from the air correctly due to cloud coverage. someone sent me documents pertaining to the issues the SR-71 had trying to photograph the drop zone. he gave permission to post them....thanks SM "It is surprising how aggressive people get, once they latch onto their suspect and say, 'Hey, he's our guy.' 7. RobertM, that would seem to apply to KC as well, would it not? correct, this always makes me wonder about the knowledge. would a smoke jumper who is trained to protect himself in a drop wear a suit for a night jump? those guys wore heavy duty stuff. I understand some might parts of the gear is not needed, but a suit vs smoke jumpers gear? 8. Shutter, I believe that the bathroom was on the right side of the fuselage and just behind the seat row that Cooper occupied. Also, I understand that the interphone and meal preparation area was on the left side of the fuselage in the area where those wires are. I do not know the purpose of the wires but they were probably used only in the FBI tests. Robert99 correct, I was stating the wires seem out of the norm. I guess I should have said the right side on the photo. what is behind that door if it isn't a bathroom? I see now you explained the room....disregard "It is surprising how aggressive people get, once they latch onto their suspect and say, 'Hey, he's our guy.' 9. Well, I'm glad you agree with me. It would be kind of a shock for me to find out I'd taught people how to fly and was wrong about that. ;) Planes don't have to pitch up to gain altitude, especially the maybe 50 or so feet per minute being indicated there. I'm not going to get into the whole "pitch controls the airspeed and thrust controls climb" thing, but yeah, it does. Beyond that, it's entirely possible the pilot is anticipating for what would almost certainly be a pitch down as the stairs lower more with more weight on them. In any case, I wouldn't attach too much significance to the exact moment the photo was taken. It's entirely possible the stairs flopping around is causing the instruments to fluctuate as well. Lastly, I doubt your simulator does much in the way of simulating the aerodynamics of the stairs in flight. The 305 727 had a socalled Black Box. I assume that box has a clock. How detailed is the data collected by that black box in terms of pitch, roll, altitude events, pressure events ... so that one could reconstruct a running record that is in real time ? A record of 305's flight parms during the 8:00-8:20 period ? a black box records on a loop, only a certain amount of time until it runs over the data with new data. 10. "Would you classify law enforcement officers in the same manner as you classify Marines?" a cop is sent out everyday to serve and protect. same for the military, cops don't have helicopters with multiple weapons on them for the sole purpose of killing. the military is not required in war to fire a warning shot at someone before they shot them. (kill or be killed) war is not a good thing any way you look at it, but rest assure they are trained to kill, rather than reason with a difficult person, or a person drugs a cop might have to shoot. the cop has to make sure he is in the right. the military can kill as long as they are showing a threat or have weapons on them. I see two goals in sending troops. one would be a show of force. number two would be to eliminate (kill) as many as they can find. cops don't search for people to kill. so I think there is a big difference between the two??? just a thought...... 11. Thank you Humongous. I see that thingy now. It is in fact the hand rail. Same handrail both sides of the stairwell. They have mounted their instrument thingy to the handrail thingy, however there is as yet a wire and what may be a fastener thingy still unexplained. I wonder if these instruments are self contained or if one or two need electrical power? I am sure you know all about it! The clock was probably spring powered but could have been electrical although it probably wasn't. Neither the VSI or the altimeter would be electrical. All three would need electrical connections for lighting during night flights. Basically, the answer to your question is that no electrical power would be needed for reading during the daytime, other things being equal. Robert99 there does seem to be some wire in the photo that doesn't seem to belong. note the two wires on the right side bathroom door, they are running right over the handle? the gauge is attached to the hand railing..... I'm not going to get into the whole "pitch controls the airspeed and thrust controls climb" thing, but yeah, it does. Beyond that, it's entirely possible the pilot is attempting to pre-correct for what would almost certainly be a pitch down as the stairs lower more with more weight on them. In any case, I wouldn't attach too much significance to the exact moment the photo was taken. It's entirely possible the stairs flopping around is causing the instruments to fluctuate as well. Lastly, I doubt your simulator does much in the way of simulating the aerodynamics of the stairs in flight. I have a bad habit of saying that about the pitch. I drove Hominid nuts with that. still haven't learned. the aerodynamics of the simulator are pretty good, but doesn't really catch the stairs being down at any speed from what I remember in testing last year. I'm sure they skipped over that in programming the software. we kinda take things and run with them. I doubt anything can be found evidence wise with the photo even if the gauges could easily be seen. but just another thing to check I am surprised the light didn't go off and on all the way down to Reno at some other point........ 13. yes that is correct on the VSI reading. now this triggered something I wasn't paying attention too. the picture shows someone at the bottom of the stairs. if this is a VSI, it's show how much the plane is pitching upward. this would be the reason for the photo? my simulator doesn't do much when I drop the stairs. going to check something..... 14. The new DB Cooper wanted poster is out! due to popular demand. so many people changing the descriptions, not getting the hair right etc. the FBI has now nailed down the composite as it should of been done over 40 years ago. 15. I don't think we will find the gauges...here is what I found. the clock seems to be the closest found..... "It is surprising how aggressive people get, once they latch onto their suspect and say, 'Hey, he's our guy.' No matter what you tell them, they refuse to believe you" Agent Carr FBI
  16. "What do you mean by the VSI working in the reverse position?" my mistake. I was thinking forward motion, not up and down.....disregard in the process of going thru gauges....searching "It is surprising how aggressive people get, once they latch onto their suspect and say, 'Hey, he's our guy.' 17. here is the pic we have showing with the gauges. I put an old VSI on the right and the one that is on the engineer's panel on the 727. the FBI gauges, the center one appears to have more info on it vs a VSI?? another set of inner lines on the gauge? not sure yet..... 18. Clock VSI - tells how fast you're climbing or descending Airspeed Least, that's the way I see them. the center gauge could be a VSI, but they look a little different from what is shown. the one on the plane looks like this (see photo) altitude I could see the FBI wanting, not sure about a VSI??? you would think at least one would be for pressure. if the center one is a VSI the plane is not level. the needle appears to be off from the 9 o'clock position? would a VSI work in the reverse position????? 19. do you think these gauges can be found, or is it possible they made them for there test??? "It is surprising how aggressive people get, once they latch onto their suspect and say, 'Hey, he's our guy.' No matter what you tell them, they refuse to believe you" Agent Carr FBI
  20. Here is my guess - repeat guess - about the gages. The top one is a clock. Notice that it has 12 numbers (modulo 12) with what appears to be hour, minute, and second hands. There appears to be a knob at the 7 or 8 o'clock position which could be the means to set the clock. The middle one is a rate of climb indicator. Note that it appears to have only one needle showing and that needle is pointing to what would be the 9 o'clock position if this were a modulo 12 instrument (which it is apparently not). Climb indicators do not have a means to "zero" them and none is visible here. That also rules out a "g meter" which does have a button to "zero" it. The bottom one appears to be an altimeter with two needles, one showing thousands of feet and the second one showing hundreds (and fractions of hundreds) of feet. But altimeters have knobs for adjusting the barometric pressure and no knob is shown here as far as I can see. Robert99 bottom gauge appears to also have number 1 thru 12...could it be reading 7,000??????? 21. I have a little better pic from my last one. looks like the top gauge is a clock. it seems to read 4:56:15 the other two gauges I'm not sure, but Robert99 possibly has some answers.... movie version.....http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ifdgrfr0Bkk "It is surprising how aggressive people get, once they latch onto their suspect and say, 'Hey, he's our guy.' 22. one would think if they had access to these files the testing would show some sort of problem with the stairs release in flight. the article I posted a page or so back had the stairs pop open at 35,000. this was also said in the article..."There is a lock that is supposed to prevent [the door opening]....the stairs sometimes get stuck, requiring service before the plane leaves the gate, but [the TWA spokesman] says he doesn't know of another in- flight problem with the stairs." was the cause of Cooper's problem ever said by Tina or anyone else as to what his problem actually was other than he seems to be have trouble with the stairs? did he pull the lever and the stairs dropped 2 feet and he said WTF thinking they would go all the way down? anyone have this answer? I don't recall reading it anywhere...... "It is surprising how aggressive people get, once they latch onto their suspect and say, 'Hey, he's our guy.' 23. " After all I could NOT prove I was the widow of John Collins and the FBI REFUSED me those files. Wonder WHY considering the mug shot?" if that was the case, they might not of had the files, only the record of John Chalk Collins. did they say they had his picture? if they had the file it clearly states T.N.
