No shit, there I was. I dove out of the plane two seconds after my instructor and immediately flipped on my back. When I regained control, I found the instructor and swooped down to him. When I reached him, I tried to dock but swung all the way underneath him and landed on my back. When I finally got off of my back (I've been on my back before and never had trouble getting belly-to-earth), I did a right barrel roll, and then a left barrel roll in which I ended up transitioning to a head-down position which it took me about 6 or 7 seconds to get out of. Finally, I started a left hand turn, but by that point I was at break-off altitude, so I tracked. At 3500, I threw my pilot chute, but I must have still been in a track because I got slammed harder than I realized was possible. The whole ride down my crotch was screaming where my legs sat in the harness. I always choke on the jumps where it counts. The instructor said I was so freaking tense that I could not ride the wind fluidly, which was why I could not get off of my back or out of the headdown position. He did, however, compliment me on my altitude awareness, noting that even when the whole dive went to shit I was able to break it off in time and pull on time (and he said my canopy control and landing were very nice). I also felt confident in swooping for the first time on that jump. I just can't get the hang of those diving exits... So, he prescribed a strict regimen of coach dives before I try for my license again. I was hoping to get the license before I moved, but it looks like I'll still be working on it in Boston -- Muenkel and Jess, how are the coaches/instructors at Jumptown? But the prophecy is that both could not live, and that one would have to destroy the other. I entirely expect that Harry will destroy Voldemort at the end of the seventh book and will not die. A One that Isn't Cold is Scarcely a One at All -

A practical question. If two skydivers who cohabitate have two dz.com accounts from the same computer, would there be a way to know that it is in fact two legit accounts? If such a script were run, for example, would it automatically kill to such accounts? A One that Isn't Cold is Scarcely a One at All

Clicky Member of Stroh beer family plummets to death in Texas hotel ASSOCIATED PRESS Wednesday, July 9, 2003 GRAPEVINE, Texas— A member of the Stroh beer family plummeted to his death early Wednesday when a rope of sheets he had fashioned to climb down from a 10th-story hotel balcony failed to hold, police said. Charles Suddards Stroh, 43, of Addison died about 3:30 a.m. at Harris Methodist Fort Worth Hospital, the Tarrant County Medical Examiner's Office reported. Police said Stroh had been staying at the Embassy Suites Outdoor World in Grapevine since early July, the Fort Worth Star-Telegram reported in its online edition Wednesday. Bill Bretches, general manager for the hotel, declined to comment. Stroh was a member of the family famous for brewing beer in Michigan, William Penner, a Michigan attorney who handled the victim's affairs, told the newspaper. Grapevine police responded to a call about an intoxicated guest at the hotel about 1:20 a.m., police reports show. "He had made repeated telephone calls down to the hotel desk reporting a bank robbery and other nonsensical things," said Grapevine Police Sgt. Bob Murphy. "They kept telling him not to call back." Police said Stroh was polite and cooperative but drunk, and told officers he believed someone wanted to kill him. After talking to officers, Stroh agreed to stay in his hotel room and not to call the front desk any more, police reports show. But as officers were leaving the hotel just before 2:30 a.m., they heard something hit the canopy above the entrance, then saw Stroh on the ground with the bedding next to him. The Stroh Brewery Co. was founded by Bernhard Stroh in 1850 in Detroit, which was home to hundreds of breweries between 1830 and 1990. Stroh's downtown brewery closed in 1985 and the family sold the beer business by 1999. A One that Isn't Cold is Scarcely a One at All -

Perhaps I'm misunderstanding the question, but it seems to me that your question assumes that the value of what one learns in school is limited only to employment skills. I think the value of education runs significantly deeper than providing job skills. A One that Isn't Cold is Scarcely a One at All

Wisdom is only gained by a willingness to ask questions - even unpleasant ones. I'm a cat person and I have two cats that I'm crazy about. Would I want one of them used as fish bait? Of course not. I simply want to know why the lives of some animals are more valuable than others. A One that Isn't Cold is Scarcely a One at All

Some advice an oldtimer gave me: He said that given my little experience in the sport, an error on a dive is probably mine. However, he also pointed out that if someone involved goes out of their way to tell you that you fucked up and completely washes their hands of a situation, pay attention to how the experienced jumpers respond when this person asks to be on a jump with them. You can tell pretty fast whether a jumper's critique is coming from an honest appraisal or an inability to admit fallability. A One that Isn't Cold is Scarcely a One at All
