  1. So did this one make you decide that it was a good idea or a bad idea to take lots of mind-altering drugs???
  2. Is anyone ever gonna tell me what jelly babies are??? I've searched the web, but all I can find are jelly beans, and I know that's not what it means. Inquiring minds want to know...
  3. Ah... of course! Thanks for educating me.
  4. But don't you think Kerry's daughters are hotter? (Oh and quit stalking me, you weirdo. )
  5. I didn't say it was anyone else's fault, and I'm not defending his actions. He absolutely deserves to be punished and to spend time in jail. That being said, I can still have sympathy for him; I'm not asking anyone else to. The main point I was trying to make is that this is something we should all learn from, whether that means not drinking and driving yourself, or keeping your friends from drinking and driving. (Edited because I thought my reference to another accident was inappropriate.)
  6. Ok, and now I'm just being a butt, but this did crack me up a bit when your current avatar is a picture of you drinking. (Of course I realize you're not driving though.)

    stalkers

No, not that I know of, but I like to stalk other people. How do you know that she watches all of your posts? Actually, I have had some real-life stalkers, and that is scary.
  8. Sorry, the only person I'm feeling sorry for is Brohm's family. You would think these guys learned their lesson from pass experiences. That is the path they wanted to take, knowing what the consequences were. Lock up Hutcherson and throw away the key. One less drunk on the road that will kill. It looks like their past experiences didn't involve anything serious (anyone getting hurt). Unfortunately, lots of kids drink and drive quite a bit, and get away with it quite a bit as well. Some eventually grow out of it, some learn the hard way (DWI), and some learn the REALLY hard way (death or serious injury to themselves or others). And I'll bet a lot of kids (again, unfortunately) have seen their parents drink and drive before... For all we know, Brohm's and Hutcherson's parents might drink and drive all the time, and that may have even been where these kids got the idea that it was ok to do. (Who knows, not nearly enough information to judge what kind of people these are.) I am not defending the guy. What he did was wrong. I'm just saying he's a young person, and this is a really harsh way to learn to face reality, even though it is 100% his fault. It makes me sad for him, the families, the people who had to see the carnage, and anyone else involved... Hopefully others will learn from it... I'm sure we all know people who have driven drunk before, and this could have happened to any of them. Usually people who are as drunk as this guy was are probably too drunk to have enough reason not to drive... A very good reason to watch out for the friends who you are partying with and make sure none of them gets behind the wheel...
  9. Funny, I just re-read your original post... and realized that this sounds remarkably like the book I mentioned ("Self-Coaching"). It is all about how to change your thought patterns to overcome negative feelings. Guess I'll have to check out "Feeling Good" too...
  10. Here is a link to another news article... http://www.11alive.com/news/news_article.aspx?storyid=51218 Wow, what a horrible story! Two lives ruined in an instant, not to mention all of the others (friends and family) who will be affected. I know he did a horrible thing, but I really feel sorry for the guy right now. I'm sure he was just out to have a good time, and didn't realize the consequences. Now he has lost one of his friends and is also in jail for his friend's murder. What a way to learn... I suppose the only good thing about the story is that no one else was hurt... Hopefully this will remind all of us to never drink and drive!
  11. Yeah, stick to "safe" people like me. Yeah, but at least you don't drink... So I can trust you to take care of me.... Oh, wait...
  12. Sending you a PM... Edited to say: Funny, what a small world!
  13. Yes... but I didn't mean it that way... I meant it in the "silly old chap" way. Guess I better watch what I say...
  14. Wow, I haven't heard that name in years... One of those guys was an old roommate in Austin. I thought they split up years ago... Are they back together now???
  15. I don't know about that - I lived over there for 12 years and to be honest, when it comes to freaky, they ain't got shit on Texas. Well, you're probably right about that. Us Texans are about as freaky as they come. Hey, I think I know you!
  16. Motley Crue's "Shout at the Devil" - my first hard rock album (transition from teeny-bop music) Metallica's "Kill 'Em All" - my first metal album Nine Inch Nails' "The Downward Spiral" - my first acceptance of industrial music Bone Thugs-N-Harmony - my first acceptance of rap music (I can't remember the name of the album - one of my friends was always playing it, and I was really surprised at the musical talent because I thought all rap music sucked before that. I still don't care for the gang-related lyrics though.) Oh, and "To Bring You My Love" from PJ Harvey - not sure what that introduced me to, other than PJ Harvey's music, but I continue to buy every CD she puts out and I love all of it!
  17. Funny how you knew it then.... Pot, kettle.... Yep, I'm a freak too. And I was married to one of those freaky buggers!
  18. I think it's a European thing... you know how freaky they are over there.
  19. One other book I want to mention... "Self-Coaching" by Dr. Joseph Luciani... I've never been a fan of self-help books, and I'm usually reluctant to talk about depression on a public forum... But since depression seems to be a problem for a lot of others on here too, and since this book has been such a big help to me, I thought I would at least mention it...
  20. I believe that is called "shrimping." Not that I would know...
  21. Great... I tried to find it by doing a search for "Butthole Surfers" (maybe that's not what you meant the other thread was about?)... and I am taken to a wonderful thread called "Have you done it up the poop chute?" http://www.dropzone.com/cgi-bin/forum/gforum.cgi?post=137003#137003 Ah, some of the gems on this site...
  22. "but the Butthole Surfers said... It was better to regret something you did... than something you didn't do..."
  23. Thanks, Nick! What a great link! I love Pat's writing and artwork.
