Did you try alcohol before you were legally old enough?
Shotgun replied to Shotgun's topic in The Bonfire
Is there no drinking age in Germany? I think the first time I got really drunk was in Puerto Vallarta, Mexico, when I was 15. I don't think they have a drinking age there, so I was just drinking everywhere I went. (Was also the first time I tried parasailing - that was cool too.) -

Yep, really me.... But I'm pretty sure I wasn't really drinking the beer (or so I am told anyway). -

That was a great idea! Do you think that if the legal age had been 21, you would have waited that much longer? -

Nah, I was still on the Schlitz Malt Liquor at that point (picture attached)... I didn't move on to the whiskey until I was at least five or so. Oh, and I miss you too, buttnugget. -
Year 9 is when I would take up hardcore BASE jumping.

I had my wisdom teeth out through a research study that was testing the effectiveness of Aleve (naproxen sodium). After having all four teeth cut out, I had to sit in a monitored room for a few hours, wasn't allowed to put ice on my face, and wasn't allowed to have any painkillers other than Aleve. Luckily, it worked pretty well... So that might be something worth trying??? Sorry to hear you're in so much pain! (Oh, and I lived on mashed potatos and jello for about a week after I had mine out.)

Just curious... From a recent conversation, I am under the impression that most kids try alcohol at least once or twice before they are legally old enough. So I just wanted to see if that is true on here. It doesn't matter if your parents gave you permission or not, I'm only interested in whether you drank at all before turning the legal age. And yes, I did drink sometimes before I turned 21. Is that normal, or am I just a heathen? -
Thanks for the link. That's interesting... I wonder how many people are still around from back then...

Why not??? Ten years is plenty of time to have fun with a billion dollars... And you can always leave the rest of it to a special person or to charity when you die. Edited to say: Oh, maybe I misunderstood the question... Did you mean that having only ten years to live was a condition of taking the money? Either way, my answer would still be yes... because the way I live my life, it is doubtful that I have much more than ten years to live anyway.

So I am curious.... How long has dropzone.com been around, and when did the forums start (and any other interesting historical factoids)? I seem to remember coming here around 1999 or 2000(?) and it was a small site with some nice skydiving e-cards... but I don't remember seeing a discussion board at that time(?)... Then I didn't return to the site for a couple of years, and it had grown quite a bit when I came back... (and has turned into such a valuable resource for the skydiving community - thanks, sangiro! ;-)

I'm sorry to hear about Coco. You sound like such a great cat daddy. Blue Skies, Coco!

Oh... I thought you were gonna say that this country needs an enema.

Who can go line for line on a Pulp Fiction scene with me?

Here, this should help... http://www.godamongdirectors.com/scripts/pulp.shtml -
Have you seen "School of Rock" with Jack Black? It turned out to be a lot funnier than I was expecting it to be...

Hmm... maybe ALL cats are secret alcoholics! And sunshine: that picture is so cute! The kitty looks like it is sad because all the beer is gone...

Take a break if you need to, Mike. Skydiving will still be there. Or if you just don't want to jump as regularly, buy a bigger canopy and make a checklist of things to go over before jumping when you are feeling uncurrent. I understand how you feel though... I have all but quit jumping right now. My issues are different than yours, but it still comes down to the same thing... If your heart is not into it then it is not worth the risk. This sport IS dangerous... And, unfortunately, it seems that a lot of people are going out of their way to make it more dangerous than it needs to be. Most of the friends you have made will still be your friends whether you are jumping or not...

And she is definitely evil... Anyone who drinks my drink is evil! You guys don't look much alike though... Do you walk on all fours?

Tequila is bad... I am not allowed to have that stuff anywhere near me.

Yep, that would be me.

I turn my back for one minute, and she sucks down my entire Jack-n-Coke! Geez! Guess that's what I get for naming her Moonshine.

Absolutely. For me, it is one of those things that "I keep meaning to do but never get around to." What finally got me motivated was a recent trip to North Carolina... Hiking with my young nieces and nephews in somewhat remote locations. I just had this helpless feeling that if one of them got hurt I wouldn't really know what to do. So as soon as I got home, I enrolled in this 4-month First Aid course.

I am currently taking a First Aid/CPR course, and using this site to think of and discuss the various situations that might arise in skydiving. It's unlikely I'll ever use the training at the dz because I jump at Perris and there are usually people around with a much higher level of training. But you never know... I don't know if the dz staff are required to take first responder training, but I think that they should be. I think it would be a good idea for all skydivers to take at least a basic First Aid/CPR course. There is always the possibility of landing off and being the only person immediately available to an injured person.

Yes.... with mind control.
